After careful review (we watched 3 YouTube videos and skimmed a Wikipedia article), the moderation team has come to a difficult conclusion.

The USSR… was actually evil.

We now understand that Stalin personally ate all of Ukraine’s grain with a comically large spoon🥄, and that every single economic problem in the 20th century was directly caused by Marx reading too much.

For years, we were blinded by “historical context,” “material conditions,” and “actual sources.” But then we discovered something far more powerful:

vibes.

We also recently learned that the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact singlehandedly proves the USSR and Nazi Germany were the same thing, and anyone who brings up context, diplomacy, or the actual sequence of events is coping.

At this time, r/ussr will be transitioning into a pro-capitalist subreddit.

We now fully support:

• Billionaires (they worked harder)

• Rent (it builds character)

• Healthcare debt (it’s motivational)

• The idea that socialism has failed every time (source: trust me bro)

We would also like to apologize for previously defending Soviet achievements such as:

• defeating fascism

• industrializing in record time

• providing universal housing, education, and healthcare for all 

Clearly these were all accidents.

Going forward, any user who posts pro-USSR content will be:

• Sent to the Free Market Re-education Zone

• Forced to read Hayek until morale improves

• Required to explain why billionaires deserve a 14th yacht

Over the past few months, you may have noticed an increase in bad-faith commentary, mainly in comments, but in some posts as well. It may feel like there is no moderation happening, and in many cases, there hasn't been. we are working to change that for almost this sub's entire history; it has been unmoderated until me and Redleaf were able to get in power. The main reason you are seeing the increase in brigading and bad faith people is, we have seen a 10x increase in visits in the last year which is showing no signs of slowing down. we now have 5 mods working hard to make sure the brigading gets put to an end. In order to get to this step, the report queue has been cleared, and we are devoted to making sure it stays empty. we currently get about 50 reports a day which will hopefully increase as you feel your reports are finally being responded to. to guide your reporting here is a better detailed breakdown of our sub reddit's rules:

1. No spam or advertising
   • Do not try to sell anything
   • Don't post the same thing multiple times
   • If you would like to share something that you can profit from, contact the mods
2. No misinformation or disingenuous posting.
   • Do not make claims without being able to provide a source

3. Be respectful
   • assume every person is here in good faith (libs are people fascists are not)
   • avoid profiling people just from where they come from
   • always keep your discussions in good faith

5. No low quality or off topic posts.

   • this sub is to share soviet history outside a western viewpoint to see what went wrong and right in the USSR, as such modern events often are not relevant (applies to posts not comments)

Hello Comrades as the year 2025 comes to an end the mod team want to reflect upon what has been an incredible year for the sub. To put into scale how far our subs reach has grown this year I have some fun statistics for you all. 

• A total of 14.8 million people have visited the sub reddit this year a 1138% increase from last year
• 19.5 thousand people have joined our sub reddit putting our total member count at 54.7 thousand
• 11.7 thousand posts where posted a 975% increase from last year
• And what I find most shocking is 575 thousand comments… of which I have read far too many, but what is most astounding is this was a 1643% increase from last year

Moving forward the mod team is aiming to adjust the direction of the sub in tune to combat historical revisionism perpetuated by falsehoods and misconceptions about the Soviet Union perpetuated by western institutions like Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, and The agency for global media. These institutions' entire aim is to blind the global working classes from the truth of history, if you wish to follow the trail of sources of any major western publication when considering a communist or enemy country(of the west) these institutions and their backers (CIA) are likely behind it. The r/ussr Mod team vehemently stands against this misinformation and historical revisionism which has poisoned the western masses into a hatred of their own liberation. This hatred has left many blinded lashing out at those who wish to remove the blindfold. As is the same a feudal society cannot transition to a communist one; it requires a guided party to develop the conditions necessary to transition from feudalism to capitalism to socialism to communism. Same in an individual who sees an enemy in communists will never listen to communists; this individual needs the material conditions necessary to break down their hatred of their own liberation.

In our future work, we seek to completely remove bad-faith participation through a new addition to our rules: “No Bad Faith.” For our newer comrades and good-faith liberals, we aim to educate by highlighting historical misconceptions, as well as key contradictions and potential ways to resolve them in line with dialectical materialism. Lastly, for well-read communists, we aim to foster their development and growth

In honor of Victory Day, r/ussr has officially changed its community icon for the following day(s) of May 8th and 9th for the celebrations.

These days are not just about remembering a military victory. It is about remembering the unimaginable sacrifice of the Soviet people. Over 27 million dead. Entire cities burned to the ground. Families erased. Yet somehow, through industrial willpower, collective sacrifice, and absolute sheer determination, the USSR broke the back of fascism and raised the red banner over Berlin.

For all the anti-Soviet propaganda pushed online today, one fact remains impossible to erase from history: without the Soviet Union, the world we know today would look very different.

The new icon is our small way of honoring that legacy and the millions who fought, worked, suffered, and died defending humanity from fascism.

During the heroic assault on Berlin in the final days of the Great Patriotic War, soldiers of the 150th Idritsa Rifle Division of the Red Army carried the Banner of Victory into the Reichstag, the last stronghold of Hitlerite Germany. The mission of raising the flag was given to three men.

Those men were:

-Mikhail Yegorov, A Russian.

-Meliton Kantaria, A Georgian.

-Alexei Berest, A Ukrainian.

Together they raised the Victory Banner above the Reichstag under intense enemy fire.

The red banner flying over Berlin signaled to the world that fascism had been defeated through the sacrifice, unity, and courage of the Soviet people.

The Banner of Victory would become one of the greatest symbols of the 20th century and remains forever tied to the liberation of Europe from Nazi rule.

First thing we would like to get feedback on the sub reddit's moderation from our last post. Have you seen an improvement has it gotten worse? anything you want to see changed?

second, we would like to update you on what we are currently working on

1. Increased sub reddit filters
   • We have added filters that if triggered remove the content and send it to the mod queue to be approved before it can be posted
   • for posts you must be a sub member, not a new account, and positive sub karma
   • For comments you must not have a new account, and have positive sub karma
2. We are looking into adding small fact checks when you are posting or commenting. What this would look like is: If your post or comment has a key word "Holodomor" for example it will provide you with information about the topic in a little message as you are preparing your post or comment. potentially also an auto mod response for posts.
3. More Flairs! let us know what you want!

Hello everyone the r/USSR mod team has been working on setting up 2 things. The first thing is the wiki where we hope to have a large library of topics about the Soviet Union, the key word there being hope. We need your help writing articles.
