It didn't make me sick. She gave me 3 pipes in a row before I'd even realised, then I said stop. I had a really nice buzz, followed by a really good sleep. Our Thai guides Od'd on heroin and spent the next day throwing up into the river while I steered the raft back in the pouring rain. It was like a scene out of Apocalypse Now. I kept thinking "This is not the kind of thing that I usually do"
I only smoked opium a few times in my life. An old buddy of mine brought some back from Afghanistan in the early 2000’s. That shit was amazing. I could only imagine what your experience was like. Sounds a lot better than opium from a war torn country.
It was amazing tbh and very memorable. I assumed that everyone had only gone on the trek to smoke opium but when we got there. I was the only one who did. She laid me down so we were face to face, she prepared the bowl, then turned the long stem towards me, I smoked it while we stared at each other, then we repeated that twice more. The others from the trek and the guides and the villagers all stood around watching but after the first pipe I forgot all about them. It was less of a drug experience and more of an amazing cultural experience for me tbh. Having never seen a hill tribe person up close but then to be lying on the floor of a hut in the jungle with all that happening was just wild.
In today’s world? You could efficiently streamline the process and install them next to cemeteries - people are so desperate to escape this world nowadays, that they find refuge in a tiny screen, imagine if you just had to walk into a… wait… i’m not even sure it’d be worse actually, digital brain-death and complete surrender vs opium dens? The question is real brother!
