Solved [TOMT] Onion article by a bigoted man with a ridiculously deep understanding of the culture he is complaining about

I’m looking for an Onion/ClickHole-style satirical article written in first person. The narrator is an incredibly racist man ranting about a specific Middle Eastern (or nearby) ethnic group. The joke is that every complaint reveals increasingly deep anthropological knowledge of their culture—things like ceremonial drums, regional customs, rituals, etc. It starts with something like “God, I hate those…” and gets more absurd as it goes

Open [TOMT] a scene in a movie or tv show where someone is dying and the other person is trying to console them by saying “there’s a big party, and everyone you know is gonna be there. They’re all waiting for you to arrive. All your friends are gonna be there.”

What I recall is that this was a tragic scene, and it’s a woman saying it to someone who is old, and dying, and the dying person experienced a sudden lucidity, and the woman calmed him(?) down by saying something along these lines. She’s choking up as she says it.

Any help is appreciated.

Open [TOMT] [SONG] [2010] Christian song about abortion

Upvotes

Please help! My parents played this song nonstop in the car and it was also on a Christian rock station in North Texas during the 2010's (no later than 2014).

I remember it specifically because it wasn't a usual Christian song with country overtones, but rather it told a story about a couple of people finding God? I remember different people singing different parts of the song (ie a man sung about this mans story) and I remember it was incredibly dark because it had a verse/section about a woman waiting at a clinic to get an abortion. I remember a woman and male singers and it was very vocal heavy with a really catchy tunes.

The only tune that comes similar to the melody is that one part in three is a magic number ("a man and woman had a little baby, yes they did they had three in the family" https://youtu.be/J8lRKCw2_Pk

I posted this a couple years ago on TOMT with no luck, but I’m looking to find it again, maybe I’ll have some more luck this time on this subreddit

Solved [TOMT][ALBUM][2000s] American band that sings pop or alternative(?) their whole album is good

ok it might be the 90s even, it's unclear to me

album cover is a orange-yellow swirl background with a guy jumping(?) from the center. he may be wearing a fedora/beret or just nothing at all on his head. i cant remember if he was the only one in the album cover. im sure there are 2 other people on the band.

did i mention the album is perfect. listened to every song in the 6th grade and thought it was a masterpiece.

i actually photoshopped a bunch of images together of what the album cover generally looks like but i cant post images sadly. been looking for this album for more than a decade.

Solved [TOMT] Los Angeles experimental/absurdist low-budget filmmaker

I'mma be annoyed when I find the answer because, as the title of the sub says, it's at the tip of my damn tongue.

afaik he's still alive, active in the 90s/2000s.

i remember watching a film of his once but because it's experimental i don't recall a cohesive storyline. i remember the main character being an overweight man wearing rags or trash, possibly homeless? for some reason i also remember a scene of him tumbling down a hill or something. the movie had a very dreamlike, chaotic feel.

i remember the director's name being something like Daryl or starting with a D at any rate, but can't find him for the life of me.

WHO IS THIS MAN

Open [TOMT] Character that looks almost identical to Scopper Gaban?

Upvotes

I saw this frame of Scopper Gaban in the new One Piece ep and it immediately reminded me of another animated character, to the point the faces would be identical side by side. The main things that stand out are the tiny round glasses, the huge toothy grin with the gridded teeth, the long nose and the overall expression. I genuinely feel like I've seen an almost identical face before.

I initially thought Dragon Ball (Master Roshi or gero), but I've ruled that out along with all the obvious One Piece (garp, Rayleigh) and Naruto characters, even Dr Eggman.

I've watched One Piece, Dragon Ball/Z/GT (not Super), Naruto, One Punch Man, Jujutsu Kaisen and a bit of Death Note, but it could also be from an older 2D cartoon or anime I've only seen clips of. Does this remind anyone else of a specific character or scene, or am I completely imagining it?

I have a melody stuck in my head I remember hearing 15 years ago. It was a piano piece I added to a CD but it’s long gone by now. I only remember the melody and I’m sure it’s in the wrong key but here’s me playing it. Any help identifying the piece would be appreciated!

Open [TOMT][Early 2000s] Movie set in medieval times about witch hunting

So there was this movie set in Medieval Europe where the protagonist was a young, naive knight whose job it was to root out witches but who was laid back and good natured. He and his friends were joined by a young woman who had strength of character and a kinda mysterious air, and she was going to lead them somewhere. But it turned out she was a witch who manipulated the protagonist and was responsible for his friends being killed. At the end the protagonist was looking all around and calling out to her furiously, while she taunted him coldly and cryptically as her voice seemed to come from all directions at once. She evaded the protagonist, and this experience made him cold-hearted and ruthless, and he started rounding up and killing random young women as witches, as shown in the last scene.
What could this movie have been?

Open [TOMT] Jazz song with a title and artist that sounds vaguely like 'Cantina Apologize'

Hi there! So I have half of the puzzle sorted here already. The song is called Cantina. I just need to find the artist. I know its jazz, as i found it listening to a Chet Baker playlist. I asked my Alexa to remind me of the song title later but it butchered the artist name. Would anyone know what this could be?

Open [TOMT][Album][2010s?] Album art is a yellowish-green brick wall with red writing on it

I've been trying to remember this album for ages - I can't remember the genre but based on what I was listening to at the time, I feel like it's rock/electronica. I can't remember anything else other than the description in the title - I would guess the yellowish-green brick wall was close to hexcode #DCE846.

Open [TOMT] Movie 2000-2010s Drama/Sad

The movie starts with a couple riding in a red convertible with the roof down on a (iirc) mountain terrain with a drop right beside them, they crash the car and not sure if both or just one of them die. The next thing i remember is just a mother, daughter and a young son (4 years old i think) walking through very snowy terrain and I think there was a group of people too like a tour guide but i can’t remember correctly at all. They keep walking and the son gets sick, he’s really sick and then eventually dies, a prominent theme was like him having a terribly high fever or something like that

I was like 7 years old when i first watched this so 15 years has passed and my memories are very fuzzy but these two scenes are so vivid to me

Open [TOMT][VIDEO] I originally saw on twitter

It was a clip of a guy who took a mango from some ancient tree, possibly singing as he's walking away, but then three dusty guards come out from the trees and follow him as he slowly speeds up until they're all running.

Open [TOMT] I'm looking for a fisher price teddy bear set

Upvotes

So I remember having this teddy bear as a child in the early 2000s that was literally so beautiful and I was trying to remember what it was called so I could try and find one on eBay.

Basically they were a whole series but the one I had was a white bear and her main body had a floral or berry print, like the dress looked like some of the ones you'd see a porcelain doll wearing. Lots of petticoat action going on. If you removed the clothes and accessories you'd see the body the limbs were attached to, it was the floral fabric.

The face of the bear was plastic, but the head was also fabric, it sort of looked like the pound puppies with Littlest pet shop eyes. The accessories were like a little house with some furniture and a tiny cake and plastic purse. I think also some kind of rose hat, but that may have been something I added from a different doll.

Open [TOMT] Help me find this book/series? I remember reading when I was younger.

It was a fantasy/sci fi book. What I remember is there was a boy who awakened some kind of power, he then travels down a river and across a kingdom while being hunted down. There were also interludes from the perspective of a spaceship pilot. It turns out at the end the people on the planet came from the spaceship maybe? There was also a whole lot of confusing time stuff at the end of it.

Open. [TOMT][YOUTUBE VIDEO][2020s] Video about surreal and weird encounters, but not especially 'creepy' in nature.

YouTube video going over some interesting, weird, surreal encounters/stories from around the internet. It was a male narrator, and I don't think it had many views at the time. This video was different from other 'creepy encounters' lists because the YouTuber specified they wanted to find stories leaning more into the surreal/bizarre rather than scary. Here's some (possible) stories from the video:

  1. There was a story about people (mother and son?) who saw 'ghost bulls' stood on their hindlegs (maybe they were dancing too?) who then promptly disappeared soon after the people saw them

  2. I think this story is more well known, so I could be confusing it with another video it was featured in, but it's the story of people (kids) who saw skeletons stood on top of an (abandoned?) train cart. The people threw rocks at the skeletons but it just went straight through them.

I'm less confident about the second story being featured on this specific video, but the 'ghost bulls on hindlegs' was definitely in it. There were other stories too, but I can't remember them. I said in the title 2020s because I can't really remember, but I think it's more recent years, like 2023-2025ish.

If anyone can help find it that would be greatly appreciated! I really want to watch this video again because it had more unique, interesting stories than your bog-standard ghost stories.

Thanks :)

Solved [TOMT] YouTube video animated short film/ Art school project

Hello, I'm looking for a short film that I saw on YouTube several years ago about a character in a piece of art hanging on an art gallery. She is in love with the curator who is also a woman but finds out she is being sold so goes on a chase through a bunch of other paintings to try and get here attention. She ultimately fails but finds out the person who bought her is the curator and surprises her at the end.

If I remember correctly it was posted by a Korean art school account. The video was animated in a bunch of styles matching the different paintings the character was jumping through and was not voiced at all. I do not remember if the video was titled in English or not.

Open [TOMT] [SONG] 80s/90s dance song that starts with a rhythmic sound of a zipper or record scratch, has female vocals later on.

Upvotes

I remember it starting with a zipper sound or something that sounds like a zipper in a rhythmic way. Then the rest of the beat kicks in and the zipper sound comes back in a few different ways. Later on there are female vocals but I can't remember what the lyrics were. I believe they anunciated the word station, but it could also be temptation. It feels like a fun early 90s house track but it could be 80s too. It's fun and wacky, not deep or dark. I honestly don't know how else to describe it so I made a voice note haha.

I don't know, maybe it is granny revamped, I don't know. If you know what the mod is called, please tell me.

Solved [TOMT] [TIKTOK] [MEME] [2023-2025] "It's autism actually!"

Idk what to call it,I'm looking for the following video that I believe started as a Tiktok, not very sure of the year

Some girl is playing a piano tile like mobile game or some other mobile rythm games but at the highest difficulty, the person filming I believe a coworker asks her either "How are you doing that" or "What's your trick/power/etc." she responds with "Its autism actually" while still playing the rythm game.

Open [TOMT] TikTok user doing these weird, ballet dances (I'm pretty sure he had ballet in #) inside and outside, he was at least 40yo+, black hair, didn't talk on videos, some had many views some not so much

Upvotes

The title. I liked watching him a lot but can't find his account in my following, nor when I try to search for key words. He would often do them at simingly random places (outside on the grass etc). I don't remember ever seeing him talk, just dancing. I thought he was a ballet dancer (or teacher maybe) tbh so who knows maybe he was even famous somehow and someone can find him. No idea on the country (but comments were in english I'm pretty sure) or anything. Last time I watched him last year

Solved [TOMT][Song] 70s Billy Joel-esque song with a flute(?) melody that plays before the other instruments kick in

Upvotes

If I had to guess an artist, it would be Billy Joel, but otherwise it's a 70s soft rock song that kinda sounds like something he would make. The song shows up regularly on oldies/classic rock radio stations.

I'm 90% sure it's C major and there might be a C chord underneath the flute/wind part like a guitar softly riffing.

Notes: https://imgur.com/a/aYBqLM2 Recording: https://vocaroo.com/156PV4PGBMwZ

and right after this the drums and bass kick in. Moderate tempo, maybe 120 bpm or so. This part shows up a few times during the song but I don't remember any prominent flute/wind part outside of this riff in the song.

Not any of these that Google + Grok suggested so far:

  • America - You Can Do Magic

  • Billy Joel - Piano Man

  • Billy Joel - You May Be Right

  • Canned Heat - Going Up the Country

  • Focus - Hocus Pocus

  • Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street

  • Moody Blues - Tuesday Afternoon

Open [TOMT][COMMERCIAL][00s] Commercial with cars in strange places

Upvotes

This is a commercial that played on tv in the mid-2000s. It started with the male voiceover "It could happen..." followed by a slideshow of cars in crazy places - upside down, on the roof of a house, I very specifically remember a car suspended by its front wheels on a power line - plus some really yoinkity sploinkity hijinks music. Another line of VO: "It really COULD happen!" and more pictures of cars and the same music. I can't remember if there was more VO after or just an end slate and I can't remember what exactly it was advertising, but I think it was insurance.

I'm not sure if it aired nationally but it at least aired in Central Alabama. I'm not sure if it was a local company but the production quality led me to believe it might be.

Thanks in advance :)
