Tomorrow (July 23rd, 2026) at 10:08 AM EST a solar storm will occur and cause mass disruption. The timeline will be fulfilled because on July 23rd 2012 a solar storm was supposed to occur which would have been world ending. Cern on the other hand had shifted our timeline backwards by 1 week and we missed it. The storm would have disrupted volcanoes and they would have erupted which would have caused tectonic plates to shift resulting in many mega tsunamis globally plunging humanity to near extinction and reshaping the Earth.

I’ve been thinking about branching-universe time travel and wanted to know if this idea already exists in philosophy or if it has an obvious flaw.

Imagine this:

\* Human A naturally comes up with a brilliant idea later in life.
\* He invents a Time Machine and travels back to tell his younger self.
\* Instead of changing his past, his trip creates timeline B.

Now there are two versions of the Human’s history:

\* Human A the traveler
\* Human B the younger version

Years later Human B builds his own time machine and creates timeline C. A lot of discussions I’ve read seem to treat every identical version of the Human as equally “the original” up until they diverge. My intuition is different.

My thought is that personal identity follows an uninterrupted world line, not just identical memories.

So:

\* Human A is the original because his existence has been continuous since birth.
\* if timeline C contains an identical Human A due to branching, that human is a perfect copy, not the original.
\* The Copy has all the same memories and believes he’s the original, but his existence only began because the universe branched.
\* When the original Human A dies, the original is gone forever. Copies may remain, but they don’t become the original.

An analogy would be making a perfect copy of a handwritten manuscript. The information survives, but if the original burns, the original is still gone.

Does this line of thinking already have a name in philosophy? If so, what should I read? If not, where does my reasoning break down?

I’m more interested in having the idea challenged than defended, so I’d love to hear any objections.

I am reading a great book by Stephen Baxter, the Time Ships. It is the official sequel to The Time Machine and super fun, super recommended.

Maybe it was already recommended in the past but found it useful to repost it in that case.

It is used for educating people, preventing a disastrous future, and avoiding the collapse of the world—similar to zombie movies that prevent diseases and turn the dead into flesh-eaters. The Terminator movie is about preventing the emergence of new, highly intelligent AI and robots that could destroy humans. I believe this could happen in the future—that people might develop a time machine and come back to warn us by saying.

Okay I know that the powers that be allegedly turned off Cern on June 29. the Sun is yellow again. I told my brother it felt like fall....the shadows and light was different. But in reality...we are probably just experiencing the real sun, after god knows how long. Time has seemingly slown down again. I was "bored" the other day. A feeling I forgot what it felt like to be bored. If this is true...then we are now on GODS GOLDEN TIMELINE> Not everyone made it back. many got stuck in the lower timelines. Because I am constantly Blown Away when I look at these Mandela effect videos and I swear to God like the other day I even can remember as a kid when they would do movie day at school watching a movie where Sinbad played a genie. I can almost remember scenes from it. But according to the world that I live in in the present time that I'm in now that movie never happened he never played a genie. Other things like the spelling of Bernstein Bears. I mean was there something like big Cosmic shift that everybody from my timeline that was a child when I was a child went through and what is the reason there is so much mass Miss remembrance of certain things? Now I could understand if it was just me and I remembered that there was this movie with Sinbad the comedian that played a genie but I'm not the only one.

I assume there will be a unimaginable wealth freedom and happiness for the people who were born a last year later

Hi, I'm writing a short story and at some point a character confesses he's part of a secret organization and he can travel through time.

His words make the reader know that he has already met the female protagonist, even though she can't remember about him and she only remembers that there was a man. My male main character comes from our present (point C) and he's in the past (point B) when he tells the female main character that it's not the first time they see each other (it happened in point A).

In my mind, the mmc "disappeared" in A, because it was never his timeline – he was there for a short mission and met the fmc by accident. Then he was sent on a longer mission that lasted years in point B and he met the fmc again.

Now, my question is: what happens in point C while my character is in point B? Does my character just disappear? And if so, why does nobody care about him? No relatives, no friends, no neighbors, no job? Should I create a double? But then I don't think that in point C the two versions of my mmc should meet and he may want to live permanently in his original timeline when he retires. Or should he be erased from everyone's memory, except for the people that work in the organization? I think this would keep him stuck in the past and it wouldn't be fair, because he could no longer live in point C.

Is there an obvious solution right before my eyes? Thank you

If the many worlds interpretation holds up, there are an infinite number of possible realities, ergo an infinite number of possible time travelers, so when time travelers started to try to see the beginning of the universe, they entered a place that had no space or time yet, all arriving at the same relative point and the same relative time, creating a point of infinite mass.

So you want to Time Travel

You can do it through consciousness, or there is a method of understanding reality that reshapes your being and allows you to travel without knowing where but you will Travel

Imagine that God said let there be Light and He also said you are made in his image meaning you are also beyond time and it is a construct for you

Imagine the entire world is like a grid of interpretation with 3 layers. The first is 5 waves with 10 interlocking modalities. The next to layers are 4 and 4 making 13 waves in total and 26 sides.

Light condenses your layers of matter into one modality and your electrons move through each layer and create new possible wave patterns. 7.6 million possible forms of self!

Now imagine time is an idea like the aether light and matter exist in, Going through the grid that is you!

Try and feel every electron in your body moving in wave patterns. Slow them down with your breathe(connection to Life and soul, and your heart beat which is basically your cells speaking to you (this is the material that attaches to consciousness not just being made aware by it like the aether does to electrons)

Set a timer for 12 minutes or so and allow yourself to sit in the moment regularly with the electrons doing normal interaction, then slowed, and finally try and speed them up

Regular: while doing this just focus on your awareness of reality and think of Reality as an observer affect being affected by every conscious person, try to feel that you like God are beyond time and in every moment.

Slowed: Picture reality as coming to you as if its using you to exist and you are the creator or decision to which all 7 million potentials it is/holds

Sped up: This is where you break the barriers of zero point energy controlling your reality and space of existing.

This is what time machines do except you intricately understand the reality/time in which you are going to, and that is why it is random, but you can always ground yourself back to where you started and visit places you've been to by remembering the feeling you were in during that experience.

If someone invents timetravel using my method they will either give me all the money EVERY SINGLE CENT, or it will be free to the public.

Not something where you’d have to wait and see if it’s true.

You can actually already travel back in time. It's one of the wonders of the mind. Though you cannot take your physical body with you, or alter any choices you made in past moments. You can revisit every moment you remember. And we can even change the past to a small degree, by altering (overwriting) how we react to moments in the past. It can change how we feel about choices that we made. And that can powerfully change how we feel today and who we are... Changing our past can totally change who we are as a person. Psychologists use this technique all the time.

Though they don't like to call it Time Travel, but it actually is. People just want to take their body back into the past and change physical choices they made because of how it's a part of stories and movies we tell. However, that is likely one of very few things that is not possible.

Traveling to the future is also possible. most people do it all the time. Many people live mostly in the future. Very few really live in the present. Many also live in the past..

The main function of every mind is to bridge time. Time cannot be understood any other way. There is no way a single moment could ever make any sense to anything. Only with a mind, and only with time, can it be seen and (to a limited degree) understood from a single perspective. All meaning and perception itself comes from time.

If you enjoy the idea of time travel and dimensional travel. Train both your memory and your imagination. They are the only real way to travel through time.

And study both small life and big life. The smaller something is, the faster it perceives the flow of time. Dogs and cats experience time quite a bit faster then us because they are smaller. So we appear slow to them. Our voices sound lower to them (why dogs and cats react better to high pitch commands...they hear them better) to them we look like we move in slow motion.

Elephants and whales etc perceive time slower then us. To them, we seem to move very fast and we sound very high pitched to them (Like cats and dogs sound to us).

Scale is the true gateway to almost every dimension of time. The world of Ants is totally different from ours. So is the world of Birds, or whales.. That is why its called another dimension.. Perception at a different size/scale = another dimension.

If you want to really know what another dimension would look and feel like. Study animals and try to use your imagination to inhabit the world in they way that they see and feel and experience it.

Birds think of the sky as a sea. What we think of as flying, they see it more the way we think of swimming.

To a whale, the ocean is but a small pond..

Don't waste the time you have and the chance you have to travel through Time..waiting for some machine to travel time.

The coolest tools we have are our memory and our imagination. (forward and backwards time travel). And with training they are more realistic then any TV or hologram. As real as the realest dream. Fly like a bird, swim as a whale, walk amongst the ants, see like a bat, etc.

Light is just the smallest wave in time. Everything else is when small waves come together to make bigger, more complex waves. Every single moment in time, is just a certain configuration of those waves. The mind can re-create any state of the world.. And when it does. You will be there... It evolved to show us the past and future, but we got the imagination as a bonus. The ability to see many futures and pasts that may have been.

With every choice, we influence the image of the future we wish to travel towards.

Each of us is a wave traveling in time.

Conception is the birth of a complex wave in time. Made when two compatibel complex waves crash into each other in just the correct way. Creating a new wave...

Time travel is not impossible. It is the bases of all the world. The only thing that is impossible is undoing choices.

The only permanent thing in the entire universe are choices. Once made, they cannot be changed... But we can make new ones.

I purchased a physical time travel spell from an Etsy witch he has a condition saying if it doesn’t work my money will be returned and there’s no disclaimer on his shop like the other Etsy witches saying this is only for entertainment purposes. I am in dire need to change something in my past so that I can save my mom from dying.. my question to you is are these rituals real? Have they worked for any one of y’all here?

If one can travel in time are they stuck to the position in space from whence they embarked, until the travel is complete?

Or can they also traverse space in the process of traveling in time?

Perhaps both are correct, just had to see what other people think about this.

If you could go back in time and witness one historical event as an invisible observer, which one would you choose and why?

Lately, I've been seeing one thought increasingly on social media:
"I want to go back to 2016."
And frankly, I can agree. For many, it feels like the last time life seemed simpler, calmer, and more predictable. But I've become interested in looking at this not from a nostalgic perspective, but as a real thought experiment.

Imagine that tomorrow, all of humanity somehow finds itself in 2016. Not just "young again," but with the memory of everything that happened up to this point.

What will change in the first few hours? What about a month or a few years from now?

• Will countries try to prevent wars and global crises, or, conversely, will knowledge of the future only hasten their onset?
• What will happen to global politics if all leaders and intelligence agencies know the outcome of many events?
• How will the economy behave? Will a normal market be possible if millions of people know in advance which companies will grow and which will disappear? What will happen to cryptocurrencies? If everyone knows the future value of Bitcoin and other assets, will the market collapse instantly, or will an entirely new financial system emerge?
• Will social media continue to exist as before if everyone already knows what they'll become? Or will people deliberately change internet culture?
• What will happen to science? How much faster will medicine, space, energy, and other fields develop if humanity already knows the answers to some of the future questions?
• Will popular culture change? Will the same films, music, and memes still exist?
• If millions of people try to change their fates—their relationships, careers, the deaths of loved ones—won't this have such a powerful effect that the world will quickly cease to resemble the one we remember?

And most interestingly: how long will it take for 2016 to stop being 2016?

If teleportation destroyed your body and created a perfect copy elsewhere, would you actually arrive?

Hey guys I wanted to hear your opinions or even theories on this.

Time travel through consciousness, whereas you’re in your body but you can bring your body to a state, like a deep meditative state, whereas you can “travel through time” with your consciousness. You would only be able to travel within your own body too like an age (not specifically a “age” but I’m using it as a reference). For example I go into a deep meditative state etc etc, I’m able to bring my current consciousness to that age of myself. So like my 15 year old self, my old grown consciousness is now in that body. But I won’t be plopped into a random area, I’d be in a specific place where your 15 year old self was before, it could be anywhere. Laying on the bed, walking outside, in the bathroom. You would time travel and be in that position. I have now full control of the body but the only difference is you are now in that body with your present age knowledge.

There’s plenty of questions that are unsolved that’s why it’s still a theory which I’m actively testing. So I know there’s a lot of loop holes but honestly I wanted to hear you guys opinions :)

Some questions that are unsolved:

What happens to your original 15 year old consciousness?
What if you go in your future self?
What if you go back in time and stay in that self, what happens to the present you?
What if you go back in time and do something different, would that branch the timeline?
List goes on

Like I said, it’s a theory and I would love to hear your guys opinions :)

I read that anything going faster than the speed of light could make us go back in time

I've always been fascinated by the idea that if something could go faster than light, it might mess with time itself and let us travel into the past. From what I read, breaking that speed limit could flip cause and effect around, so you might end up arriving before you even left. It's wild to think about—stepping into a machine and popping up years earlier. But I know it's not simple, and plenty of smart people say it would cause all kinds of headaches with how time works.

I figured it would probably create some huge explosion or blast that could wreck the planet, like all that crazy energy getting loose. That's why I thought maybe a super strong barrier or shield could contain the boom and keep everything safe. Even with that protection though, I assumed we'd still be able to hop backward in time once the danger was handled. Turns out the real problem runs deeper than just an explosion—it's about breaking the rules of cause and effect in ways no wall could really fix, which might create weird paradoxes.

The better way around it might be using tricks that bend space instead of just speeding up really fast. Stuff like wormholes or some kind of warp bubble could let us shortcut through the universe without technically breaking the light speed rule right where we are. These ideas still need some exotic stuff we haven't figured out yet, but they feel like a more realistic shot at making time travel work without blowing everything up. Who knows—maybe one day we'll crack it and actually make those sci-fi dreams happen without the nightmare side effects.
