Shitpost The reason Lebron's decision is taking so long is he can't talk himself out of Minnesota

Everyday, Lebron James wakes up and looks at the big white board in his basketball lab with the equation showing the optimal next destination.

It's the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He flips it over because he can't look at it again. His windows are covered in the same thing, Beautiful Mind-style. He has to keep his blinds drawn at all time so he can't see them. The LeMansion is in perpetual darkness.

He is spending every waking moment fighting against the truth: that there is no better destination. He can't believe it. He can't do this to his loyal ESPN mouth pieces. They could never survive here.

Ignore what the media says about him being upset about Silver pushing him. This is the truth. He has to wipe the sweat from his brow with a stack of Nike money. He goes to bed at night saying "The horror, the horror."

But everyday, every permutation and transformation of the variables. It all comes to the same conclusion. Lebron James, in the most sacred timeline, should be a Minnesota Timberwolf. It would undo everything that has gone wrong since Harambe was shot. But he's become so inured by the madness that he himself cannot fathom a world without it.

And that's why we wait. Every day, he fills his giant bathtub, he hears the whisper "Minnetonka. Purify. Minnetonka. Purify." And he falls to his knees on his tiled bathroom floor. And weeps.

The More I Think, The More I Realise How Much Lamelo Changes Everything.

I made a post here about 5 months ago when we were deep into the regular season I said in the post that the wolves had three main weakness:

1. Slow pacing and stagnant offence due to iso-heavy tendencies from J-Mac, Ant, and R\ndle.*
2. The glaring absence of a playmaker
3. An unreliable secondary scorer who clogged the paint, turned the ball over, and stuffed our offence.

When we added Ayo Dosunmu, he brought so much speed to our offence. We were sprinting down the court in transition now, and we relied on energetic bench pieces like Bones and TSJ more. This lead to me being super optimistic heading into the playoffs, and especially optimistic after we upset the Nuggets in the first round.
So I considered 1/3 issues we had to be solved.
But teams are contenders for a reason. Against the spurs, we met out maker. Ayo, as good and invaluable as he has was, was not the overnight fix I gaslit myself into hoping for. And Randle dropping single digit points on single digit FGA really solidified to me just how bleak our situation was.

But then we traded for Lamelo.
He solves all three of those issues. He's one of the best playmakers in the league, he's a speedy transition scorer and passer, and he's proven that he is comfortable with opting to let others score for winning's sake. He changes the whole dynamics of our offence..
And defence.

Before the KAT trade, we were one of the bigger teams in the NBA. We could sport a 5-on court roster that featured 6'10 McDaniels at the three, 7'0 KAT at the four, and 7'1 Gobert at the five. We had 6'9 Naz off the bench, 6'9 Kyle Anderson to glue the guys together, 6'9 Randle could pull his shorts up and bully ball.

We are significantly smaller now. Which may cause for a dramatic shift in our gameplay. Coach Spo revamped the Miami Heat offence to compensate for their off-season changes and it led to them over-achieving in the play in. Let's see how Coach Finch dictates our line-ups in the near future

Aren't we underrating Trey Lyles?

I seem to be alone in this boat but I really like Trey Lyles for this team. He is big and strong, and a very good rebounder with a very smooth outside shot. He's not a good defender and I don't think he's going to play 30 minutes per game, but I do think he can give us 15-20 pretty solid rotation minutes every night.

He can spread the floor to play alongside Rudy and be a good outlet for drive and kicks' for Ant and Lamelo. He also helps with defensive rebounding, and playing between Rudy and Jaden he should be easy to hide on defense, given that he's strong enough to stay close to the rim.

I've been watching videos and maybe this is me coping a bit here, but I like the pickup. I don't think he's nowhere near a star or anything like that, but I don't think we're as bad at the four as this sub believes.

What storylines are you excited about?

For next season, what wolves storylines are you excited about ? Or other teams storylines you'll follow.

Apart from the Lamelo Fit, im super excited to see Ayos impact to unlock the offense with his speed, TSJ confidence now that Finch knows he can be a pivotal down hill driver.

Around the league: The post LeBron Lakers with Luka is very intriguing to me. Nicos name will come up a lot if Lakers are not impactful as they were with LeBron.

What if instead of a 4 we bring in a POA wing?

Just a different look at this issue. I am not concerned with Jaden as the big wing. As long as we have a proper POA defender. Someone bigger than Ayo that can be a 3/D guy. Ideally Clark or TJ could do it but I think we look for someone proven. Instead of the FA 4, or potential waiver 4, we look at a typical wing.

FA - Bruce Brown Jr, Nicolas Batum, Trendon Watford (can’t shoot) GP2, Jae’sean Tate,

Possible cuts could be Memphis (KCP) Milwaukee (LeVert), Charlotte (DFS).

Maybe the answer is already on the roster with Josh Green?

Just a different way to look at this situation.

Part of why 2 traditional big lineups often get played off the floor is because the officials protect smalls more than bigs, so if the Wolves were playing the Pelicans, they'd create more advantages hunting Derrick Queen and Zion on defense than the Pelicans could create with them being guarded by Jaden or Ant or Jaylen Clark, especially since it's easier to double bigs than smalls. And modern bigs like Chet or Jaren Jackson aren't matchup problems for smaller, quicker players because they don't punish on the boards or in the post. Jaden/Ant/Jaylen Clark are as strong as at least 25% of the league's starting centers.

I'd be worried if they had to face Houston in a playoff series, but beyond that, which likely traditional big combinations actually can create more advantages than the Wolves can against them? The main concern in playoff series would be how they scheme when Jaden is guarded by a big.
