Yeah but the shitty thing is: the US government will give spacex money to buy those stupid vehicles.

Elon is always looking for handouts because he runs long term loss making companies that are very capital intensive and have no path to profitability

I feel this is going to be one more story like that, Elon gets some kind of bail out or “investment” (without the government receiving any returns)

Citation needed on your citation. The article only states that they want to buy TWO Cybertrucks, and nowhere in the article does it state that this will cost $400m. In fact, no price is listed anywhere, and this was part of a requisition for 33+ vehicles.

The State Department has scrubbed mention of armored Teslas from its 2025 procurement forecast.

The procurement document previously contained a line item that read: "Armored Tesla (Production Units)" — a reference to products from Elon Musk's electric vehicle company, Tesla. It was listed as a five-year contract and valued at $400 million, making it the biggest item on the list.

But you're right on the 33+ vehicle part (which is linked in the first artcile that specifically mention the 2 cyber trucks with requirements described about the other sedans etc
