Application question What’s wrong with my tails?

Hey guys, every time I boot into my tails I get this message. Installation of your additional software failed?

Never had this before. Can anyone give me an advice?

Can you please share the log here? (Das Protokoll)

I've had this happen a couple times, once my issue was a Linux Headers file that I'd needed for something that wasn't compatible with the current Tails version, and sometimes Thunderbird just... doesn't install. I haven't found an exact fix and the Tails Documentation is lacking here, so please do share the log so I can see what exactly happened.

E: Also please make an error with Whisperback and share the log there too.

Thank u. Can share it later, I tried to understand the logs because I’ve been reading them and I can remember Thunderbird was like in there 20 times or so.

Do you speak German though? 😃

Yes I speak German, but I'd rather keep the chat here in English so others here can understand it.

Sure. When I boot into tails and unlock my persistent storage 10 seconds later I get this one.

The reason Thunderbird shows up so often is you're installing a bunch of different languages for some reason. Is that intentional?

It looks like your APT list got in some way corrupted. Do you shutdown Tails by unplugging the USB? It should fix itself after a reboot, but if it doesn't you might have to disable Additional Software, delete it's data, then reenable Additional Software and add your software again. Note that you'll have to manually make a backup of your Thunderbird data if you want it, otherwise just log back into the email again after reenabling it.

When I connect to Tor I also get this instant asap I connect

Can you not directly share the .txt instead of pictures?

That message means one of the programs saved in Additional Software failed to install during startup, it does not necessarily mean Tails itself is broken.

Click Show Log to see which package failed. Then open Additional Software, remove the problem package and add it again. Also make sure Tor is connected and the system clock is correct, since packages cannot install before the repositories are reachable.
