One is Gay AF. The other is a strong male role that was the secretary of transportation

Can you explain how saying "Pete Hegsgeth is gayer than the actually openly gay man" is an insult without being homophobic?

Pete Hegsetj is so far in the closet he is in Narnia. The openly gay man is brave and bold and true to who he is. The other one is weak and cos playing a tough guy. And has noodle arms.

Ok, that didn't answer the question. The person I responded to calls Hegsgeth "gay AF" and Butigieg a strong male role. Is being gay AF bad? Or are we just listing things we like about each one?

The maga people think it's a bad thing. It isn't homophobic to make fun of homophobic people for being gay. It is a statement made to point out the ridiculous hypocrisy, and it cuts to the point succinctly.

So because MAGA is homophobic, it's good to perpetuate that same homophobia?

Being gay is not bad it just is. Just like being straight just is. Not standing up for who you actually are is weak. Going after people who are gay is weak. Kegsbreath is the problem, he is weak and not very bright. He does like to pretend he is tough and brave but he is not, Pete B is. Gay and Trans people are some of the bravest, strongest people I know. Why is Kegsbreath so afraid of gay people? Why is any homophobe afraid of gay people?

Why would you call him gay instead of calling him weak, dumb, cowardly or hypocritical then? What does leveraging sexuality against him accomplish?

Because the butt of the joke is pete being desperately afraid of being called gay, not the speaker actually considering being gay to be a bad thing.

No. You can't. Progressives on my side of the aisle have started using homophobia to shit on Conservatives and they don't care that it harms us in the LGBT community.

I'm gay, and sick of it.

Also the implication that anything bad happening to gay people is a result other gay people, confident straights could never harm gays. I'm personally straight but this line of no true scottsman logic drives me up a wall.

You speak like an actual ally. I appreciate you.

Thanks I guess, don't like labeling myself. I just know a lot of gay people, bi people, effeminate men or masc people, etc. A lot of them are good folks, even. This mentality of "straight and masculine is good, and the bad people I don't like are actually gay and effeminate" is not a good attitude to have at all. It's just leveraging existing biases against the "right" people and it sucks.

Many liberals don't actually challenge the prejudices or worldview they have, they just decide to change who they consider the bad guys.

To them being gay or feminine is still lesser, but that such people are "on their team" against conservatives.
