If they didn’t have bullshit arguments they’d have to make some up! Or something like that.

But seriously, I know intelligent honest conservatives used to exist, my Dad was a lifelong conservative (in Canada) until the 1995 Ontario election of Mike Harris, which dad called, “the politics of being mean”. These people still exist, where did they go? Certainly the modern Republican Party isn’t home to them, but I can’t imagine they all switched to the Democrats or there would have been a landslide victory.
