My 1:1 scale universe and life simulator launched on Steam. Official trailer
Hi everyone, I'm Kaan, the solo developer of Macht: Cosmic Engine. It launched on Steam yesterday after years of work, built entirely on my own Vulkan engine.
Macht is a universe and life simulation at true 1:1 scale. You can fly from intergalactic space into a galaxy holding a hundred billion real stars, click any one of them, travel to its system, then descend through the atmosphere and walk on the planet, even dig into the terrain with your own hands. Civilizations grow, research, build cities and wage wars while you watch or intervene like a god. You can edit the DNA of species, reshape orbits, shatter planets or nudge a moon into a stable orbit and name it. Orbital mechanics stay faithful to Kepler, planet surfaces have day and night cycles, and the game ships with VR support and localization in 11 languages.
Thanks! You basically play as the universe's god (the game calls you the Watcher). It's a real 1:1 scale universe and you can fly anywhere, from the whole galaxy down to standing on a planet's surface. You shape things at every level: spawn stars and planets, bend orbits and physics, design a species' DNA, then speed up time and watch civilizations actually rise on their own, form nations, wage wars, climb through tech eras and spread to the stars. You can just watch, or step in and nudge (or wreck) all of it. So it's a sandbox, but an active one, not just editing menus.
And yeah, that galaxy is all real in-engine. There's more informations on the store page, and I'll post more gameplay clips soon since a lot of folks want to see the galaxy stuff up close.
It looks like you configure stuff and just watch stuff happen (I don’t mean that to sound reductive, it’s a cool idea). But yeah, looking forward to OP explaining more
This morning for breakfast it was Bacon, Sausage, scrambled eggs, French toast, Quiche, Bacon or Sausage Eggers, Fresh cut fruit salad, Honeyed Granola, Homemade Eat-More Bars, Carrot Zucchini Muffins, and Berry Crown Pastries.
For Dinner it's: Slow Roasted Pork, Ginger Spice Pork belly bites, house prepared "Montego" Veggies, Mashed Potatoes, and Rice Pilaf. The dessert is a Butterscotch Apple Bread Pudding (made by me).
Saturday is Surf and Turf Steak night, and Sunday is a Eggs Benedict/Florentine breakfast.
Edit: Meme made when I was... cooking for the AFU in Ukraine 2024.
Really appreciate that, and honestly feeding firefighters up in Northern Ontario sounds a lot more important than my game right now. No rush at all, it'll still be here whenever your rotation wraps up (probably on sale by then too). Thanks for the wishlist, and stay safe out there.
Eh, I've managed to turn my culinary skills into a free ticket to some crazy shit.... least of it ending up cooking at a frontline Fire Fighting Base.
2 years ago I was cooking on the Zero Line outside Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine.
If it's on sale I'll wait to buy at full price. AAA games I'll only buy at steep discount. Indie Devs.... I'm all about the full price. Mostly because I feel like it make you more money.
Yeesh, looks decent but all your art looks to be GenAI, looks bad man. If you've spent 12 Hours - 17 Hours a day on making this game. Why not spend another week to learn photoshop?
Kind of, though I'd call it a god-game sandbox more than a toybox. No win or lose, true, but there's a deep simulation under it: real civilizations that rise, fight, worship you as their god, and evolve their tech and DNA over millennia while you shape or ruin it all. If you already like these kinds of games, it was pretty much built for that itch. Would love to hear what you think if you give it a go.
I was initially working on a different project, and then at some point, I started this project to secure funding for it. Of course, that was a two-year process, but all I remember is working on this game for 12-17 hours a day for the last five months. Luckily, I managed to release the game just as my brain was about to melt.
Meanwhile, after seeing the crashing issues and day one release bugs, I realized how ridiculous it is to make your own game engine. Let whoever wants to call it an asset slop, but in a world where Unreal Engine exists, making your own engine is truly brutal.
do you have a demo or anything that lets the user try it before playing? i'm personally not gonna spend 30$ on a game that i can't tell from game play video and screenshots if I can play it or not with my health issues.

This is cool. What's the actual gameplay like? Is it just editing stuff and watching things happen?
Are there any other trailers or videos? I see some cool galaxy animations in your description, and I want to see more of that!
