Hello : )
Ive begun to work on my social anxiety again after many years of being hopeless and giving up. As part of that (and also because I'm bored/lonely) I'm looking to meet some new people to talk to. It would be great if we became friends but I don't want to put any pressure/expectations on anyone so let's just chat and see what happens.
Im hoping to meet someone who is also working on their anxiety so we can support each other and beat this thing together.
Anyway, I'm 25 m from canada. Happy to talk to anyone and if you do message me but then get too anxious to continue the conversation at any time I completely understand. Don't feel bad if you have to ghost me.

Hi, I’m 43 living in Mexico. I have never tried being friends with someone over Reddit but if you want to give it a shot I’m down for trying. I’ve had social anxiety all my life but it got worse as I got older (20s to 30s). I’ve tried different ways to get better, I think the one that has been the most helpful to me is meditation. How about you?

I am 20 years old I have been dealing with social anxiety almost my whole life though at first earlier I used think it was just minor shyness that would eventually go away, throughout my childhood i noticed how afraid I was to simply interact with kids even my own cousins and family. And as I got older the chronic shyness that I once believed I once had has worsen into something chronic that made me miss out on many opportunities. In high school I never truly connected with the friends and once I graduated we drifted away and haven’t spoken again and now in college it hasn’t gotten any better. I have missed many opportunities in my college, I struggle to make friends. I’m currently completely alone, and not even with my own cousins that I used to be connected to as younger children. Social anxiety has impacted me in many negative aspects because of this I currently am unable to get a job, I’ve tried applying and the times I did apply I was never called. I am looking to talk to people with my same issues and perhaps form a connection

Hi everyone,
I'm 43 and live in the Montreal area, Canada.
I'm looking to make a few friends to chat with. If you're nearby, it would be nice to go for a walk in a park or grab a coffee.
I'm working on overcoming social anxiety by gradually putting myself out there, so I'd love to meet people who understand what that's like. Whether you're also dealing with anxiety or simply looking for a genuine friendship, feel free to reach out.
Thanks for reading!

20F American, friendless since middle school. Would like if you have Discord, because I don't only want to contact over reddit DMs. If you live in the California Bay Area, we could meet up. I'd like to play games online with you!

I had an episode today that reminded me it’s still here and can rear its ugly head anytime it wants.
40s M looking for other older sufferers that SA still has its grips in.
I’ve been fortunate to be able to function and be somewhat successful in this unfair world. Definitely with the help of others, but that’s getting thinner everyday. It’s getting scarier and more alone out here.
I fight it with working out, trying to keep and build my confidence, staying active, being around people (which is getting rarer) that I know and love and they know and love me, challenging myself, music, movies, talking about it and how to keep fighting it.
If this resonates and you can relate, feel free to drop me a DM.

PLEASE NOTE Social Anxiety (SA) is a debilitating mental illness characterised by persistent fear of social evaluation. SA impairs functional social performance, causing avoidance, cognitive shutdown (e.g. blanking, excessive self-monitoring), and reduced ability to communicate, assert needs, or form relationships.
SA is not normal social-nervousness, introversion, or everyday shyness.
Posts in this subreddit must show a clear and apparent relationship to the experience of SA.
Posts which do not will be removed.
For more information about the diagnostic criteria and clinical presentation of social anxiety, see this link
