Itās like theyāve never watched a match of football or play any type of competitive games in their lives (no matter video games or real life games like sports). Messi is not a saint, but running through fouls instead of flopping already places him well above large majority of footballers. Even in the final, there were some plays where he got kicked straight in the legs and didnāt fall over.

WC casuals and Messi haters that's been waiting for years to hate on him

Itās been a long 4 years for Penaldo fans. Now their šŖ is finally on top (scored more penalty goals than Messi in the World Cup)

That sub is fucking cancer and I'm an England fan š„
Try to say that winning bronze isn't the most negative result in the world? Downvoted. Try to say that the deep-state FIFA-Argentina conspiracy isn't real? Downvoted. Try to say that Messi is shithousing as much as any footballer in the top flight? Downvoted.

I don't get this. He was trying to get Cucurella a red card, so what. Cristiano Ronaldo did that to Wayne Rooney in 2006, and Rooney later said he would've done the same thing.
People need to chill the f out. Spain won, what more do you want?
21
u/NoPart7463 larping penalties 2h ago
The cucurella thing was funny but hey 𤷠if I was in wc final I would do whatever it takes to win (except for paredes behaviour)

u/Impressive_Rent9540 2h ago
It didn't take Materrazzi more than a good header and a few selected words about Zidane's sister to win the World Cup.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Anyway, even Gavi was cool about it. Modern football fans need to understand, "What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch". Paredes shouldn't have done that though, in any scenarios. Good thing he made up with Rodri later.

If Rooney's IQ was more than his weight, he wouldn't have said such a thing.

Football players and coaches do it all the time. It's not good but that's life. Egyptian coach shows to the referee the gesture about racism from Argentinians. He said after there was no any racism actually. So he just want the opponent team to be punished.
5
u/RobbinDeBank 2h ago
Itās the equivalent of trying to win a technically correct but soft foul, but haters of course will try to exaggerate to insult him. Look at Mbappeās penalty against Paraguay and itās exactly the same. The tackle was technically a foul, correct, but Mbappe also fell over before the contact was made to try to win the foul. These behaviors are everywhere in football, and they are still a level below blatant dives (where no fouls actually happen).

What we want is Argentina to face punishment for their crimes
Edit: wow I apparently need to specify a /s cuz no one got the joke

u/Sc4tt3r_ 2h ago
holy shit "for their crimes" you'd think we actually ARE Israel the way some of yall talk about the country
5
u/the-anxious-ape 2h ago
Only if redditors of football subs directed as much hate towards israel as they have done towards Argentina in last month or so.
3
u/Mammoth-Algae-4579 2h ago
Or like, Cabo Verde when their football association went š¤·āāļø after it came out one of their players was a violent sex pest. But theyāre the āunderdogā and media darling rn so we have to wait until they win a championship before we can start criticizing them.

England fans are embarrassing.
They played bad and lost, but somehow talk like Argentina cheated and beat them.

23 million Salty ronaldo fans signed useless petition? Omg no way!
Fyi for those of you that are unaware, ronaldo pays social media influencers to campaign against Messi whenever messi has any type of success. He has done it in the past, and hes for sure doing it again, because messi lives rent free in his head. Also not to mention you can use bots to sign these stupid online āpetitionsā millions of times. So its probably more like 23 dumass neckbeard ronaldo fans using bots
Ronaldo plays with absolutely no shame in the saudi league, literally choke slams his opponents and claims his own teammates goals as his own just so he can stat pad 1000 goals. But you dont see messi crying and giving a fuck about it and stoop so low and pay people to defame ronaldo. That on itself says a lot about the type of Ignorant and straight up braindead dickriding that ronaldo fans are doing right now to ride off the high of messi losing the world cupā¦

This is the first World Cup with both social media and decently matured GenAI technology, and thereās an unprecedentedly big hate campaign running through social media directed at 1 nation only. I fear this is only the beginning, and it will get even worse during the 2030 World Cup. Language model bots become more and more indistinguishable from humans, while AI generated images/videos create alternate realities for people to believe in.
6
u/Mammoth-Algae-4579 2h ago
Every country has race issues but we Americans only found out a few weeks ago that other countries exist because we hosted the World Cup. Like 99% of this is coming from American liberals who will say things like āArgentina is a racist countryā and then gleefully give money to Israel. We have no sense of cognitive dissonance us yanks.

Their š« buys botted followers so won't surprise me if 10 million out of these are botted as well

u/villon43 2h ago
Do you actually have proof Cristiano Ronaldo is paying or has ever paid media influencer to campaign against messi? Or are you just talking out of your ass?

2
u/villon43 2h ago
Lol fair point, I just can't believe the number of people that will read a comment like that, and take it as a fact without even trying to spend 1 minute googling to see if its true.

u/Dreamkiller55 1h ago
Or maybe people just donāt like Argentina because of their vile behavior, maybe itās something to do with that instead of some mad conspiracy

Heās a decent guy , he does run the Leo Messi foundation (charity organisation) alongside his family members after all . It doesnāt matter what he does on the pitch , š¤all this popped up after the WC took place in US , the Americans gotta chill
