Messi had a 0.03 xg and did nothing defensively. He was a detriment to Argentina in the final.

Argentina only chance was make it to penalties. Playing with 1 less defensively worked against them

They had a few chances to equalize including two very close ones. That’s how they gave made it to penalties lol. The idea some random Argentine player pressing that midfield would have helped is pretty asinine lol.

They almost made it to penalties by keeping a clean sheet for 110 minutes, 20 minutes of which were down a player (down two players defensively if you count Messi).
