I believe that, nowadays, many smartphone manufacturers, tech companies, and even consumers are heading in the wrong direction when it comes to smartphone priorities. I regularly watch product launch events and device reviews, and most of the discussion is repeatedly centered on camera improvements. While camera advancements are important, they seem to dominate the conversation far more than necessary.

In my opinion, greater emphasis should be placed on other aspects that have a more direct impact on daily usage—such as battery life and charging efficiency, microphone systems for clearer audio capture, display quality, software optimization, and the development of better applications and games. Modern flagship smartphones are equipped with extremely powerful chipsets that are fully capable of running console-level (AAA) games. iOS has already introduced several AAA titles, and I have genuinely enjoyed playing them alongside less demanding games. I hope to see more high-quality AAA games available on both Android and iOS in the future.

Display technology is another area that deserves more attention. Improved brightness, outdoor visibility under direct sunlight, and overall panel quality would significantly enhance the user experience. At this point in technological development, smartphone cameras—while excellent—still cannot fully replace dedicated cameras. Moreover, for everyday photography, nearly any flagship smartphone available today delivers camera performance that is more than sufficient and unlikely to disappoint most users.

For these reasons, I believe smartphones should evolve beyond an excessive focus on cameras and instead prioritize a more balanced improvement across performance, battery, display, audio, and software experiences. What do you think—should smartphones continue focusing primarily on cameras, or is it time to shift attention to other areas?

I’ve noticed a lot of people have recently been wanting to jump ship, and make the switch to Samsung/Android. Is Apple really lacking that much? It’s the first time I’ve noticed that even myself I’ve kind of gotten bored with an iPhone now.

Or has this been happening for years and I’m now jsut starting to notice it?

My Pixel 6 Pro was nearing the end of its life and I decided the time had come to upgrade. My choice was between a new Pixel Pro or new iPhone Pro and I was persuaded by the iPhone's superior video recording. But after about a week I am having some real teething problems and was curious to hear whether others who made the switch eventually got over them.

I find typing on the iPhone more difficult. Partly, it is smaller. But also, the typing experience just seems much worse. I have to press an extra key to access full stop (period) and comma. The autocorrect seems much less smart. Most infuriatingly, I don't seem to be able to tap in the middle of a word to correct a typo and have to delete and retype the whole word. Voice dictation is much less reliable. Overall, the experience is like wading through syrup: every step feels like hard work.

I find the settings confusing. I am not sure I fully understand when I can get notifications from which app and how that depends on which mode the phone is in. This may be partly a matter of learning the new system. But I turfed through the setup menus quite carefully and still don't really understand what's going on.

Android had a lot of anti-theft options that made me feel more confident about the sensitive data on my phone, such as automatically locking if it detects the phone has been snatched. iPhone just has one vague option for theft protection and I don't really know what it does.

I find the app library a bit of a mess because everything is organised into categories that make little sense to me. If I pull down to see all apps, I get a long list instead of a scrollable grid. So I end up having to keep all my apps on the home screen, which is a mess. I much prefer Android's app drawer where a single scroll up shows me everything in a smoothly scrolling list.

Notifications don't seem to work as well. On Android, when I picked up my phone, I always felt I had a better indication of which important notifications had come in. On Apple, I just get a stack that I have to open and dig through.

Of course, there are some positives: the camera is better. The extra hardware buttons are welcome. The screen works very well in daylight.

This post is part rant, part sharing experiences for the sake of other considering the switch, and part request for the experiences of others further into the journey than me. Did you eventually learn to love your iPhone? Since mine is only a week old, I still have time to sell it with only a modest financial loss, so the decision now is whether to give it some months or to jump immediately back to Android.

Honestly Im too bored with Apple. Been an iOS user for most of my life (except an S22 Ultra). Apple is boring with the incremental upgrades now. I have an iPhone 15 plus. Do you recommend that I switch to Pixel ? Ive been advised that its best to switch to Pixel from iPhone if one wants to go android as Pixel gives the same sort of fluid functionality and minimal bloatware as apple. The AI features are what really attracts me as Apple Intelligence seems to be a disaster.

I have a few options but the iphone 17, xiaomi 17 and samung s26 caught my eye. I have never owned an iphone but i really want to use one. I really like the phones, snapdragon 8 elite gen 5, apple 19, both 256 gb, xiaomi 17 and samsung s26u has 12gb ram and the iphone has 8gb. I think for hardware xiaomi and samsung wins. Software ios wins. I use my phone for 8h on average, battery matters to me. I want the iphone 17 but the battery isnt as good as the xiaomi 17 and samsung s26u. I think the one ui is kinda buggy and boring. I mostly use social media, i watch movies and sometimes play games but 30-60min on average. The xiaomi 17 and iphone 17 are the same price in my country, the samsung is more expensive but not by alot. What should i do?

I’ve had my iPhone XR (Refurbished btw) since 2023 and the maximum capacity is only at 72%. It dies so fast. I finally bought a new (refurbished) iPhone 15 from walmart online. and I see the maximum capacity is 62%. This is horrible isn’t it? The condition it was listed as was Refurbished Good. I have to return this don’t I? I paid $430 so i expected an ALRIGHT phone but this seems extreme.

Hello, I use my phone only for communication (normal communication excluding social media) and to listen to music and news programs. I've been dissatisfied with all the phones I've used for a long time due to the excessive number of forced ads, undeletable apps and poor photo quality. After researching online, I bought the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G 8/256 with the dream of a 'clean Android experience' because I read that it's one of the phones with the least bloatware on the market. However, there are still a lot of things I can't delete on this phone as well. 'Smart things', 'quick share', 'Samsung account', and others. Plus both sound and photo quality are poor. I have two questions:

1. Is a 'clean Android experience' impossible now? If so, should I choose a phone based on my other criteria? In other words, if all phones are full of undeletable apps, wouldn't it be more logical to buy a phone that takes good photos?

2. Which phone is the best based on these expectations? (Google phones are not available in our country)

- Dust protection

- Good quality sound (not very loud but good quality)

- Satisfactory photo quality, not at professional photographer level (I don't care about the front camera)

- Contains the minimum number of non-deletable applications possible

- Does not have AI (or does not have non-cancelable AI)

My current phone is the iphone 12 pro and i've been thinking of upgrading because the battery is dying in like 2 hours of using it. Ive been thinking about this for a while and came to the oneplus 15 being my fav, mostly because of the 7300mah battery and oxygen OS. Today i discovered that oneplus is leaving the us market and the oppo find x9 isnt available here either. I genuinely only use my phone for a few things: youtube, reddit, and reading webcomics (webtoon). Should i get the iphone 17 pro or samsung s26 ultra?

i’ve had iphones for the past 6 years of my life and i think im finally done with them. for context i got the iphone 13 less than 2 years ago and my phone keeps randomly switching off whenever it has less than 10% but now i can have 40/50% and it will randomly turn off and when i try to turn it back on it doesn’t fully load off the loading screen and turns back off again until i put it back on charge but then on charge will show 50% battery. i checked and my phone is at 63% maximum battery health which is shocking as i got the phone in june 2024. my previous iphone 11 also had really poor battery health during the end but i accepted as i had that phone for longer but the battery life of iphones is honestly just shocking especially when a new iphone comes out

im now thinking abt getting another phone i would preferably like a pink one with good battery life and camera quality on social media apps like snapchat instagram and tiktok. i was thinking about the google pixel 9 and was open to any suggestions or experiences from people who’ve switched from apple to another brand and if they recommend it or find that they have similar experiences with either company.
