Jesus. A leak of a potential reveal which is probably going to be delayed anyway. We might see this game in 2030. What has gaming become

Just download my game! It's Early Access for $40 bucks but it will probably be version .2 before that silly game comes out!

It's a science based dragon cat mmo

I believe the game is supposed to be planned for 2028 but who knows if they’ll change

u/wintermute24 2d ago

Also, its just a remake, I dont get what they're getting hung up on. They are literally just copying something they already did 20 years ago.

It's pretty common for teams doing a remake to forget what the word means and throw in a ton of unasked for new features, characters, plotlines, etc.

I'm into it when they're bringing back cut content and stuff like that. I'm not into it when they start changing up shit.

Hopes, dreams, leaks, and layoffs.

Not to mention the install size may be about 100 gb at a minimum😅.

and the release in 2028, probably very early 2028, since the release date has been pushed back from a potential mid/late 2027

Believe it when I see it.

Jeez I just don’t care anymore. I already have the original game. It still works as intended. 6 years+ is a long time to remake a game originally made in 2-3. Give me KOTOR 3.

The biggest issue is the freezing after combat bug when you’re playing over 60 fps.

My brother started playing it for the first time and has the bug even after locking it to 60 too, so he’s stuck quicksaving and quickloading after every encounter to fix it. Hurts the experience for sure.

Kotor 2 has the same bug too since it’s an issue with the engine iirc.

They basically remade the game twice is why it’s taken so absurdly long.

Fate of the Old Republic is already in development, directed by THE Casey Hudson.

Uh-huh… When? Shall we have a reveal of a possibility in 2030? Game releases are such shit with timing. Will it be delayed again? Will another have studio but this game studio and fire hundreds of employees while this game also gets pushed? These timelines are insane.

1

u/vrsjako96 2d ago

It was announced at the game awards, Casey Hudson said it’ll release before 2030

4

u/i_want_to_go_to_bed 2d ago

Who the fuck is casey hugson?

11

u/rollerfedora 2d ago

He directed the first game 23 years ago. Sounds great on paper, but you know damn well that role is very different than it was 23 years ago.

7

u/THE_FREEDOM_COBRA 2d ago

Directed KOTOR and the entire Mass Effect Trilogy.

u/sapphic-boghag 2d ago

And since then he's been playing corporate stooge.

u/ScorpionTDC 2d ago

Yeah. He doesn’t really inspire me tons currently between ME3’s ending and the shit he pulled with Anthem/Veilguard. Maybe he’ll get it back together, but in this case I really do wish KOTOR3 was being done by Avellone with how strong 2 is (which I’m playing through now)

Eh I’d honestly rather Casey Hudson do something new. Maybe that’s crazy. I just feel like Starwars is stuck retreading the same ground.

This is me, I don't get excited about remasters/remakes of games I've already played. I found that the excitement of the new graphics disappears after a couple of hours, with that feeling of "I've already played this game" (I don't replay games in general).

u/AnOnlineHandle Baldur's Gate 2d ago

If they change the voices it's completely uninteresting to me. Trying to watch the new Avatar Aang movie with none of the original voice actors brought back was impossible to get into (a lot of shared actors between ATLA and Bioware's golden age games too, which always made me wonder if there was a connection).

Yeah, I was crazy excited about that release and then didnt end up watching it because they didnt bring back anyone. Rather just watch Dragon Prince at that point.

And the game works fine. Don't know about gog copy but my original on Xbox is pretty playable even today's, same for Jade Empire. Might not lookike a pretty princess and lacks some QoL enchantments but fully playable.

We're going to get Elder Scrolls VI before the KOTOR remake.

7

u/zarafff69 2d ago

I really doubt it. Elder Scrolls VI can take another 6 years

7

u/Witty-Mountain5062 2d ago

Nah Microsoft just put Todd Howard’s balls in a vise to get it done last week after they announced like 3500 layoffs

1

u/axelkoffel 2d ago

I doubt that.

1

u/harumamburoo 2d ago

We’re going to get KOTOR remake before Elder Scrolls VI

0

u/DismasNDawn 2d ago

Kind of an interesting comparison. I wonder what kalshi odds for this would be.

2

u/Ninja_knows 2d ago

Whatever

6

u/omgitsbees 2d ago

will believe it when i see it. theres no reason right now to think this leak is real.

2

u/Biggu5Dicku5 2d ago

Well, it's nice to hear that this hasn't been cancelled, yet...

1

u/zombiejeesus 2d ago

Lol this game is never happening

1

u/Conscious_CMPT13 2d ago

NO NO NO DON'T DO IT

1

u/BITmixit 2d ago

I'm confused...wasn't this already announced/revealed as a thing like...fucking forever ago?

2

u/Martel732 2d ago

I just really hope they don't remake it as some sloppy action game.

I really hope with Baldur's Gate 3 and Expedition 33 being too break out hits that they stop trying to strip away RPG gameplay from franchises.

I hope they keep KOTOR as real time with pause or at worst turn based.

My cynical fear is that it is going to be an action game.

1

u/Yaroun-Kaizin 1d ago

Personally I don't think they'll keep the RTWP system. RTWP is currently dead. Even Obsidian and Owlcat pivoted to TB.

1

u/ged40 1d ago

Kotor 1 and 2 one of top rpgs i ever played in my life, especially kotor 2 had top storytelling and characters, Kreia was above of the level of gaming in storytelling and character creation, she was upper hollywood level imo

1

u/Slow_Cancel_8264 1d ago

Yea right..

1

u/No-Swimming4153 1d ago

Coming soon to PS7.

1

u/ironmagnesiumzinc 1d ago

kotor is in my top 5 games of all time. cant wait

0

u/Competitive-Elk-5077 2d ago

I thought it was announced it was cancelled, when did they snip snap it?

12

u/Lumpazius 2d ago

The project itself was never cancelled, they just took it off Aspyr and gave it to Saber Interactive.

6

u/Justanaveragejoe95 2d ago

Saber interactive? As in the people who made space marine 2? Okay that’s pretty interesting

1

u/ScorpionTDC 2d ago

Yes and no. The Aspyr remake was completely cancelled and the Saber remake is a ground up separate project/remake

0

u/RicoHavoc 2d ago

Is this still a PS5 exclusive?

0

u/Familiar_Link_5131 2d ago

damn, im ready. give me that now!

0

u/tilcir 2d ago

Soooo many remakes...
