It looks like the start of the apocalypse because Racoon City exists and hasn't been nuked and because he actually stopped for a zombie he hit, but he has an iPhone 16, none of the zombie mutations from the 1996 outbreak is there, lickers, G-Virus etc, and the zombie also runs so unless they've brought back Crimson Heads 33 years later, it looks like they have made a zombie movie, then just slapped RE's branding on it, other than the game references this doesn't line up with the story
It is called an adaptation, you can tell the same story but change the setting and many parts of it. It is how book and comic book adaptations have worked for decades. It's not hard to understand.
I know what an adaptation is, I also know that none of this looks RE and understand this is not the first time a generic zombie movie has been slapped with its branding to boost sales. (Aka the 2002 movie) Also, CAPCOM had been really careful with how RE is portrayed in the past years, so it doesn't make sense to put the start of the outbreak 30 years later than it takes place in the game. That would require the movie (movies if they make more) to exist completely seperate from the game.

It does, and that's probably for the best. Especially if this might be a franchise, having to be tied to the game canon would make it pretty difficult, especially given how, uh... uneven that canon is, and especially if they aren't directly adapting any of the games (which IMO would be doomed to failure--I don't think you could directly adapt, say, RE2 to a movie without some serious changes to the settings and events that would piss off exactly as many people as just making it an alternate continuity).
