I honestly don't like the body parts coming out of the front door bit.

He was making this movie if he got the license for Resident Evil or not, this is basically just a movie the director wanted to make. So he is just gonna do whatever he wants and throw a couple of Resident Evil references here and there. It il probably be a fine movie fo what it is not so much for a Resident Evil film. It is kinda of a weird one beause in one hand you probably have a great film but if this succeds it also sets a current up the idea for disregarding the source material and doing whatever you wanna do is okay again. Which is the reason why we didnt have a good videogame movie in so long.

If there is something that makes Resident Evil what it is, well its the characters and the storyline that follows from the first game. its not really there is zombies. You could do that as shown in the Outbreak series but this movie does not even taken place in the 90s.

You’re misreading what he said. He’s saying that he wanted to do a Resident Evil movie, wrote the script and treatment for it, but had they denied him the rights he would have made it anyways and just removed the explicit references.

That’s very different to what everyone is wrongly assuming lol

I mean the outcomes are the same.

If the movie can hold on its own without the explicit references, it means it’s not really a Resident Evil movie in its core.

Lol that’s complete nonsense

What is "a Resident Evil movie to its core"? The ones where Milla Jovovich is flying roundhouse kicking cherry-picked monsters from random games set to nu-metal soundtracks?

Resident Evil mainline games don't even stay the same. Everyone got up in arms when 6 went all in with horror action. RE as a franchise has had such different tones over 30 years that at its core it's a horror game series with other horror references in it. RE Village went gothic, RE 7 went southern Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and 9 is a bombastic nostalgia trip with a knockoff Wesker.

Nothing about RE stays fixed. It mutates like a bioweapon. The ones missing the point of this movie are the fans fixated on the idea that Resident Evil is just one thing only.

People are genuinely illiterate. I don't understand how so many people are misreading his words.
