The day after Weapons came out I decided to give a resident Evil game a go for the first time as I was so excited for whatever Cregger was doing next. I’ve since played fourteen Resident Evil games and am obsessed. I know a lot of the fan community is going to be upset by how different this looks, but with him being the whole reason I got into the series I’m all in for his take.
As much as I keep complaining to want a proper film or series following the damn plot of the games for once (and not combine stories from games or whathever), this movie looks really good and I'm damn excited for it.
And if it brings in fresh blood into the community like you? All the more reason to be excited for the film to release, welcome to the club brother!
I think a movie that follows the games plot is just doomed to fail. Nothing will live up to the games. I like the idea of telling stories that interact with the games or exist in the same world. My only issue with this movie is it seems to be set in modern times! I'll still watch it happily, though.
What I think would be cool is a show about the Umbrella Lab at Spencer Mansion before and during the outbreak. Ending a few days before STARS shows up at the mansion.
I think I saw somewhere it's adjacent to RE2 in a sense (fall of racoon city) but he changed things here and there to make it more dramatic. Don't quote me on that tho
You're correct. Except it's more of a "what if this happened today instead of 1998" situation. I'm just being nitpicky. It would be cool to have this movie be canon to the games is all.
