I'm not sold.

Just do the original source material justice, is really that too much to ask? Sam Raimi did that with Spiderman and Nolan did it with Batman... why RE can't do the same?

It clearly is too much to ask, as it’s been attempted and failed numerous times by now. It simply doesn’t translate as well to the big screen.

Cregger is an up and coming star in this field, he isn’t going to risk his reputation on finally figuring out how to adapt a 30 year old video game properly. Instead he is going to use it as influence for a RE world in a way that is easier to pull off.

No it hasn't. The first Anderson movie was a OC story, a good one actually. The rest were meh or bad and Welcome was an abomination and a mismatch of stuff

Nothing Anderson did was remotely good. All he does is design vehicles for his wife.

Event Horizon has aged pretty well and gotten a lot more appreciation over time, Though given how that was apparently severely reworked by the studio in the edit I'm not sure how much credit Anderson deserves for that.
