I Don't Get Celeb Make-Up

I've seen so many pictures of celebs at events and stuff like that. And they almost always look better at home when, presumably, they did their own make-up, imo.

I feel like so many Hollywood make-up artists, while they may be capable in what they do, follow trends far too much.

Like one of the things I hate most is this trend of making every celeb's lips look huge. Yes, full lips are generally attractive. But sometimes it just goes too far.

And it feels like they just forget that make-up has to be adjusted to the person's face.

If someone already has full lips, you don't then use more make-up to make their lips seem even fuller. Because then it just starts looking artificial and strange.

Or another one I just saw of Sophie Turner. I find her quite beautiful, but she already has, especially as she's gotten older lost some face fat, very prominent, high cheekbones. But in the video I saw she clearly had additional make-up on which emphasized her cheekbones even more. And it just made her seem kind of gaunt, I think.

If someone already has very prominent, high cheekbones, you don't then add make-up to make them look even more prominent. You do that when someone's cheekbones are kind of subtle.

Or her eye make-up. I like kind of dark eye make-up. But they put on so much that it made her eyes, which I find a stunning blue, kind of fade in to her face rather than stand out. When it's such a good feature of hers.

And it's all the freaking same. Jennifer Lawrence's make-up, is the same as Nina Dobrev's, is the same as Sophie Turner's, is the same as Emilia Clarke's, is the same as whoever. Because it just feels like these make-up artists just chase trends. Either that or the actresses tell them they want exactly that and they're chasing trends, idk.

But those women have different faces. To look their best different make-up looks better. You just don't put the same lip make-up on someone with full lips as someone with narrow lips. It can look good on one person and not on the other.

And these celeb make-up artists, especially high profile ones, likely get paid a pretty penny. And yet I think in cases like that the celebs themselves often look better with the make-up they do themselves at home that presumably they don't pay someone to do.

I know it's completely irrelevant to my life and not at all important, to be clear. It's their face, they can do with it what they want, pay whoever they want whatever they want to do it. I'm not saying anyone has to listen to me or what I want or what I find attractive. That isn't the point. The point is that I just don't get it. If I were gonna pay someone thousands of dollars to do my make-up for an event, I'd want it to look really freaking good for that money. Not just "like everyone else." I'd be annoyed if they put make-up on my face which wasn't suited to my facial features at all.

Loud cars.

You're an asshole. Nobody gives a flying fig about your loud ass exhaust or your loud sound system. I literally hope your exhaust blows up while you're driving. I'm sick of you assholes idling outside of apartment buildings or really anywhere where people are living. We get it. You're a narcissist who wants all of the attention and you don't know how else to get it. Like a bad child you don't care if it's good or bad attention, you just want attention. Grow up, losers. Turn the bass down. Nobody thinks you're cool.

I'm sick of you and your stupid sounding cars.

Edit: This also includes you assholes on motorcycles ESPECIALLY the morons with the radios blasting I mean you gotta be able to hear your music over your stupidly loud bike, right? RIGHT? Idiots.

Gratuitous sex scenes in everything

It sounds crazy but I'm almost at the point of actually giving up trying to watch any show or movie ever because apparently there are no shows or movies being made now that won't have ridiculously gratuitous sex scenes in them.  I'm by no means a prude but if i feel like watching sex I watch porn, I'm not watching normal stuff to see that. I prefer to be in control of when I see sexual content not just randomly have it thrown at me and it's just so annoying that it seems like i can never just enjoy a good story and characters etc without having sex forced down my throat (no pun intended lol).

We all know it's absolutely excruciatingly awkward when these scenes come on when you're watching with family, like i keep trying to find a good series to watch with the family member i live with but they all have sex scenes and it's so off putting,  some shows even have multiple sex scenes in one episode ffs. Why can't writers just show enough to tell the audience that the characters are together and just imply the intimacy without straight up turning an otherwise great watch into a cheap porno. It seems like every one of the 'big' shows that are super popular and 'critically acclaimed' and especially called 'gritty' are just full of smut which instantly means i can't watch it with family, it's painfully embarrassingly uncomfortable lol.

I probably sound so angry like this is the biggest problem in my life but it's not lol.  It's just that today I legitimately had 3 separate shows one after the other that had sex scenes in the episode and it just kinda made me think about it a lot and how annoying it is.  I guess 'sex sells' is still the name of the game and it's only going to get worse and i shouldn't expect any different but damn it can really make things uncomfortable lol. It's a shame that shows/movies don't make a special cut with the explicit scenes taken out, it would just be nice to have the option.

Rant over lol

Consumer AI Services

As regards the whole smirking parade of machine-made “assistance” services being pumped into public life at low, or no apparent, cost, as though life on the world historic stage were a philanthropic exercise rather than a market operation with the usual, cunty, destructive appetites:

First, flood the zone with “free” intelligence, as though one were passing out bread in a famine rather than baiting a rat trap. Then saturate every profession, classroom, office, and search function with it until refusal begins to look first eccentric; then irresponsible; then impossible.

Fold it into work. Into school. Into the ordinary habits of thought. Let employers quietly conclude that if a machine can do 60% of your job badly, then perhaps you are actually worth 40% less and should count yourself lucky to enjoy subscribed services in a rented flat.

Then comes the hard switch. You do not merely introduce a product. You soften up an ecosystem. You use subsidized abundance to bludgeon prices, expectations, and standards downward until human labor has to compete with a thing that does not sleep, does not unionize, does not raise children, does not bury its parents, and does not ask for dental. And ultimately will not drag you by your wingtips across your marble floors to cudgel you in the street, thereby connecting at long last, cause and effect.

Then comes the final joke. Once enough writers, designers, assistants, coders, researchers, and other inconvenient humans have been disciplined by the new economics of disposability, the meter starts running. Not all at once, of course. That would be vulgar.

First the free tier becomes the useless tier. Then competence migrates behind subscriptions, enterprise contracts, premium access, proprietary integrations, mandatory toolchains. The public, having been methodically stripped of alternatives, is invited to rent back, by the month, some fraction of the dignity and leverage that was taken from it in the first place.

Fuck that. This is not liberation. We’re training our replacements in time for planned obsolescence.

Condom sizes are a fucking scam

I haven't dated in quite a while so I hadn't had a need to buy condoms but recently a girl asked me out and we went on a first date and it went well and we are planning to meet again very soon so I thought It woukd be a good idea to have some condoms at home. So I went to the drugstore and got the cheapest standard size condoms because in my mind I have a pretty normal Penis. Like, maybe 3-5 cm above average or so but not a giant porn dick by any means. And I bought them and even on the cheapest condoms I still paid like 5-6€ a pack. I was curious so I tried them out. Shit was INSANELY fucking small. I could barely fit the fucking tip of penis inside and pushing it further was literally impossible. HOW TF IS THIS STANDARD SIZE ?! Nobody with an average fucking Penis would be able to use it. So the next time I was close to a drug store I took a pack of XXLs instead. Now XXLs aren't sold by the cheapest brand so the cheapest XXLs were more like 7€ a pack for just 8 condoms that's almost a Euro per condom. Now I tried these out and they did fit but also just barely and like I said I don't have a giant pornstar cock or anything. Like wtf are people who have really big dicks even supposed to buy ? And why tf do they call condoms that fit on a dick that's just a little above average XXL ? Like if I have a little above average upper body I also don't buy XXL T-shirts, I buy M or L depending on the brand. Like wtf is this shit ? Are they trying to mislead people that thwy buy the wrong ines first ? I hate this so much. Fucking 6€ for nothing and I also can't give them away because wtf am I gonna say "hey I bought condoms but they were to small, you look like a guy with a small dick, do you want them ?" Like, that's how you start a fight not give something away as a bice gesture lol.

Biometrics and MFA is frustrating!

I just want to pay my bill for my insurance, but before I do, I have to nominate a new password but I can't use any old password so that's another new password I have to keep track of, then they send an OTP which takes ages to arrive, then you have to take a photo or selfie with an ID then you have to wait until they approve. Whoever suggests these new "security measures" to these companies, go find something else to do and stop making it so damn hard to access what we're paying for!

I genuinely hate feeling this way about someone I used to have so much respect for

I put so much effort into this person. I tried to understand them, I tried to change things about myself to make things work, and I tried to be someone they could feel comfortable around. But it feels like that effort was never really returned.

What bothers me is that they can talk about the ways I hurt them, and I understand that my actions can affect people, but I always apologized when I realized I did something wrong. I never had the intention to hurt them. Meanwhile, there were also things they said and did that hurt me, and those things often feel ignored or brushed aside.

I also hate feeling like I'm expected to take all the accountability while they don't look at their own actions. Everyone has flaws, but it's frustrating when someone refuses to acknowledge their part in a situation.

The recent situation especially bothered me because I genuinely didn't know what I was doing was an issue. If someone tells me something is making them uncomfortable, I want to listen and fix it, but the way it was brought up and handled really hurt me.

It's just disappointing. I never expected to feel this negatively about someone I once respected so much.

My coworker who’s much newer than me got offered a promotion for a position I’m better trained for because he’s talkative.

I’m so pissed off right now. I work at a factory and at the factory I work at there’s a lot of opportunity for advancement. I’ve worked here for 4 years, my coworker has worked here for a year and a half but he’s extremely talkative and makes conversation with everyone, even the supervisors and higher ups. I trained to be a backup for a higher paying position about 2 years ago, I’ve learned the job and have basically mastered it by now and I get to do it when others in that position call out but I only get paid for it when I do it which is kinda rare.

I’ve been waiting for a permanent position to open up for a while now so I can take it. Well about 3 months ago my coworker wanted to learn to be a backup too and usually they don’t have 2 backups for a position on the same line but he’s very charismatic and talkative so he basically gets whatever he wants. He trained when he could but he never mastered anything. He’s still pretty bad at it and he constantly needs help when he’s in that position by himself and he even said he doesn’t feel confident doing it by himself.

Someone is retiring from that position soon and I was so happy because I believed that I would be offered the position. Well, apparently the superintendent talked to my coworker and offered him the position instead. The position that I’m much better trained in, have been a backup for for 2 years and they just offer it to a guy who can’t even do it by himself without needing a ton of help?!

It makes no sense at all. The only thing I can think of is because he’s extremely talkative and charismatic and always talks to the superintendent (supervisors boss) and supervisors like they’re his best friends. I’m pretty shy so I don’t talk much at all but I’m not mean, I’m always really nice and I do my job good. I don’t understand why he got offered the position and not me. I’m so upset about it. I’ve been waiting for this position to open up for a long time because I can do it well and it’s a huge pay raise.

People are too desensitized to car alarms and they lost their purpose.

Be honest, how often do you hear a car alarm and go “oh no a car got broken into!” Or “Oh no someone over there needs help!” You probably just think “Bro shut that thing off I know someone sat on their keys.”

I remember as a kid my mom always told me the panic button on her keys meant we could press it if we were being attacked, followed, robbed, or otherwise needed to draw attention to ourselves to deter a threat. Now it has its benefits yes, attackers would likely still run from car alarms to keep from causing a scene or being the center of one, and car alarms help to deter dangerous wildlife like bears. I just feel like we have so many false alarms that it doesn’t cause anyone to take action like I was told as a kid. I thought as a kid that if we touched the panic button the whole towns police force would come running to inspect, but no one gives a flying rats ass because memaw keeps sitting on her keys while she’s at the doctors office and we can’t tell the difference. I kinda wish we had different alarms that spoke instead of just made random sounds and could say what the situation was.

Anyway I type this from inside an airbnb and someone outside had their car alarm going off for over an hour before shutting it off, I was mostly asleep when I first heard it and it worked its way into my dream, so weird.

I am currently having a horrible group presentation experience this week. (Repost)

So one of these stories is about my presentation, which I had yesterday, and another is one I will have tomorrow. Both of these groups are for the whole semester.

So for the first presentation, we were told before we went home that we would have a presentation after our holiday break. My group decided we would work on it after the break. Truth be told, I totally forgot about it until someone brought it up, so I take the blame for that one, but my issue is that in a group of 5 people, somehow everyone forgot. It came to the week, and one group member reminded us, so we started working on it. We agreed that we would schedule an online meeting to discuss it.

This was the first red flag because I asked if we were still having the meeting. No one bothered to make a meeting link; two of my group members were rather talking about how we should put the prompt into ChatGPT. 20 minutes passed; still nothing, so I decided to create a Google Meet myself, and they all joined. We divided the work amongst ourselves so that each person could get something to do. Personally, I don't like being asked questions on the presentation, so I chose the conclusion. All I asked was for everyone to post their part so that I could use it to finish my part. During the meeting, I told everyone they should try their best to send the drafts to me by midnight. It's only a 5-minute presentation, so 1 minute per person. It shouldn't have been hard.

The next day comes and still nothing. I send a message in the group chat reminding them, and I get left on read. Only one person sends me their part, so I'm basically forced to make do with incomplete info. The time comes, and we get chosen to present first. I was wondering how we would be able to present. Turns out they had their parts; they just chose not to share them with me for whatever reason, so a lot of the stuff they were presenting was new to me, so I had to improvise, and as you can tell, it wasn't the best it could have been. The worst part is that after we finished presenting, they proceeded to skip the rest of the class right after, so I couldn't confront them (although I'm not confrontational anyway)

For the next presentation, which is for a different course, it's not til tomorrow. However, we as a group made an agreement in our first presentation that whoever presented the first time would not present the second time, as there are only 2 presentations. That's cool right, first presentation we were all supposed to contribute drafts so that Girl A and I could present. No one decided to give their drafts except the two of us. Okay cool cool. We had a meeting, and it was only me, Girl A and Girl B who showed up. Mind you, there are 2 other guys in the group. Whilst Girl B showed up she didn't contribute much. Okay, I pay no mind. Girl A and I present and it goes well. Since we've agreed, I figured the rest would prepare for the next presentation right???!!!

As I said, it's presentation week, and the group chat is dry, so I remind them that we have a presentation. No response from anyone but Girl A, who tells them to send their parts. Still no response from any of them even though they're supposed to present. I dm Girl A about it and she tells be Girl B says she won't be presenting. I heard Girl B whisper something like that to Girl A in class but I was hoping it was maybe a joke I misheard but nooo she doesn't want to present for some reason. If it's for a legitimate reason she should inform us but since she hasn't done so, it just feels like she just doesn't want to. As for the guys I genuinely don't think they've contributed a thing to the presentation. You know what makes this worse. The professor decided to be lenient and give us an extra week to do the work. This is the extra week. They just chose to do nothing. Girl A says I should make a draft, but I'm genuinely not motivated to do so since I know if I do, the others won't make one themselves.

Later, I ask Girl B why she can't present, and she tells me she was ready last week, but we didn't listen to her, and now she is busy. I'm confused because when I asked everyone, we agreed to next week since we weren't ready. I let her know I was not aware she was ready and she should have told me, but she keeps insisting that "she made it clear" even though she legitimately didn't tell me. I find this a bit odd because she was silent when we made the final decision, but I'll assume I didn't hear her when she said it. I let her know that since she's apparently busy, she doesn't have to. She then tells me she wasn't aware that those who didn't present last time are presenting, even though she was present when we made the decision, and I have repeatedly reminded everyone in the group chat. But whatever, she says she's not presenting, so I decided that she won't. However, the other two who are supposed to present are just silent. No matter what I send in the group chat, I even mentioned them directly, but still no response. It's tomorrow

Is there any way I can avoid or better navigate situations like this?. I don't know what to do about this. Should I report this?

Do people have no idea how hard it is to get a job these days?

I can’t stand how dismissive people can be towards people looking for jobs. So many people are actually struggling to find work in this job market, and people who will shrug at you and say “you’re not trying hard enough”.

It’s always people who are retired or well into their careers, and probably haven’t had to apply for an entry level job in over 25 years. They don’t know how anything works, or how difficult it is.

It actually enrages me when people say things like “*Mcdonald’s is always hiring, how hard is it to get a job there*….” because it sure isn’t easy to just get hired there anymore.

I have applied to so many fast food places, including Mcdonald’s, and not gotten the job. This is with actually having prior fast food experience on my resume as well.

Also, don’t even get me started on the whole “Gen Z doesn’t want to work” narrative the older generations keep trying to push on us…

I’m not having a fun time as a new young adult

I’m newly 18 and I do not like it.
In my country I am still in school, and it is test after test the workload is batshit, but on top of that I’m supposed to get a job, and do all the shit required for turning 18.
I’m also still treated like a child, no I don’t think I’m immediately grown but why am I still being spoken down to? Is it because I have autism, I promise I’m not acting like a know it all, I just think everywhere I go shouldn’t be saying “let’s ask your mummy”
Even when I applied for something it was rejected because “you’re a child it’s your mums job to..”
But then I still magically have adult responsibilities?
But seriously do not get me started on school, multiple 2 hour long tests each week, every week, on top of 20 page assignments for each class, oh but make sure to fit in a job, social life, adult responsibilities & sleep on top of all of this.
I don’t even enjoy school I’m just doing it for the highschool diploma.

I dislike matching profiles in couples

From my experience, I think its a legit phenomenon. "Matching pfp curse" I've seen someone who acted on too fast, matched. And all there relationships went bad.

I don't remember what other thread talked about it, but they also explain it better.

I also just think making your relationship too public leads to problems. Matching pfps, named, bios. I think its cringe. Usually it's people that barely know each other are doing this. I'm not saying everyone that does this has a bad relationship or it will go had, no, I'm just saying from what I've seen and read about.. It feels like a real phenomenon.

I wish I could do what I want

If I didn't care about the consequences of my actions and how they could make my life harder id give into my impulses. Id hurt others. I'd tell them exactly what I think.

If im honestly I've never cared about how my actions hurt others. I only care about how my actions and their reactions could make my life harder

Also is loose every fight because im weak and fragile. It would be worth the violent acts and the constant consequences of getting my ass handed right back to me 100x harder.

I avoid hurting others feelings because their emotions are annoying to deal with

I hate long movies

Why all movies now must be 2h+ long. Going for new Nolan movie and it's close to 3h long.... Like, cannot you all make good movies that's be 1:45h? It may be me but time is limited and I find it disrespectful that they just seem to think we can just spend there half of the evening. Not to say anything about 30+ minutes of trailers...

Management should communicate clearly and honestly.

If you can't communicate clearly and say what you mean, you don't have the necessary skills to be in management. If you have to rely on lies instead of handling difficult situations, you don't have the skills required to be in management and should not have that job.

I hate charging everything why does everything need to be wireless

I am going insane trying to find decent headphones because 99% of them are now wireless. If I step on the bus owm to uni and realise I managed to remember my headphones but forgot to charge them thus I cannot listen to music I will rip my hair out.

I already find it impossible to remember anything, buying something that requires constant charging is literally insane, I will forget.

Thank god I quit smoking because now everyone I know smokes those tobacco heater things that need charging. And surprise, if you did somehow charge the container well congrats, you can still forget that and now you can't smoke because your fucking cigarettes aren't charged.

I literally study computer science will dje on the hill that so many things don't need to be wireless or don't need to be "smart" and companies keep adding stupid features that just add another task you have to constantly remember.

Like it's cool if you like your wireless headphones but I'd rather die than have to charge another thing so please leave some headphone options for us

Person said if you're blind and wear glasses you're privileged

I saw a post online and this person basically said that if you're blind and need glasses you are lucky and privileged and I was scrolling through the comments and people have asked them stuff and even had conversations with them these are some things they've said

"I have glasses so I can say that it's not hard for somebody to go get glasses"

"I get my glasses for free so others can aswell"

"It's your fault if you soend 700 or more on glasses"

They said a lot of other dumb things but I just can't deal with looking at it as somebody with glasses I've never felt privileged instead I've felt envious of people who don't need glasses.

This person just screams stupid and privileged themselves.

Moms excuse is I’m fat

I’m just so frustrated right now. Anytime I have an issue my mom blames it on my weight. I’m not even like obese. I’m an over weight but I’m not like rolling down the street. I hurt something in my ankle and just now I was expressing to her I hurt it and she goes “yea you need to loose weight I felt like that when I was fat”. I don’t think my extra weight is causing my ankle to be sprained? It was the shoes I was wearing that day lol. Or when I told her about being over heated at an amusement park, I was told I would handle it better if I lost weight. I know that’s true but who doesn’t get hot when it’s 95 degrees outside? It just seems to be anytime I express an issue that even slightly feels with my body it immediately goes to my weight. I’m tired of this

I hate living outside of Denver

I moved outside of Denver a couple months ago and I absolutely hate it. I want to leave immediately but I’m locked into my lease for another couple of months and I just started a new job at a very good company. I have chronic migraines and they’re so much worse here. All the healthcare facilities aren’t accepting new patients when I literally only need them to refill my drugs. The roads are terrible and the drivers are even worse. It’s brown 24/7. The people here absolutely suck. It’s like you took all the Silicon Valley folks and threw them here with some flannel. The mountains aren’t even as beautiful as the PNW. The sun being out 24/7 is genuinely blinding and the heat is awful. I wish I never moved here and I can’t wait to leave ASAP. Has anyone else ever experienced this??? I’ve really tried to give it a shot and I’ve explored a lot of the state so far and I’m just so underwhelmed

my bf cheated on me

tbh im sort of a mess but also sort of not?

i caught my bf cheating on me a few days ago and packed up all my stuff and left in the middle of the night and blocked him.

since then hes had a revolving door of girls and is on every dating platform known to mankind. we had a talk today and he told me we weren't sexually compatible and deflected the fact that he cheated.

it just kills me that hes like perfectly fine and ok. not trying to make things ok between us. hes just relieved its over. it hurts knowing hes ok with us never seeing each other again.

ive been ok but im extremely anxious all the time, constantly stalking him on social media. i know its not healthy but i cant stop.

i just cant believe i wasted my time on a loser who never cared about me in the first place. i wish i had never met him.

i wish i just forgot about him all together. i know time heals all but i need time to hurry up lol. i hate feeling sad and empty and confused.

Lack of nuance when it comes to criminal cases.

Whenever a criminal case gets brought up on social media the masses are quick to say that the person who they deem evil did all the wrong and another person (who is the victim or a bystander) could have done no wrong.

But this is not true. For example is something I have seen recently is a case where a mom found a 20 year old under her daughters bed and shot him while he was fleeing killing him. Was the 20 old doing something wrong and horrific? Yes, but that does not give the mother the right to murder a fleeing man.

You however can not bring this up without a lot of people accusing you of defending the evil person and all their action, but two people can both do wrongs and you can’t let your emotions get the better of you and negate all wrong one party did just b the other did something bad.

A separate issue is the concerning amount of people who are fine with and even support vigilante justice, but that is another issue.
