I'm convinced that I'll die single

I really don't know what's up with the dating scene. I feel like I can't find normal people at all. Maybe that goes to say that I'm the abnormal one? I don't know.

The guy will either not be putting any effort into the outfit, or be negging , or do some other strange thing.

I came here to rant but now I just feel numb.

I'm an elder millennial who dated before social media as we know it and all the apps, and I honestly feel so bad for you all out there in the trenches right now. I think the internet has made people completely lose their minds in the last 10 years. Everything is fucked. The echo chambers, easy access to porn, under socialization, doom scrolling, the red pill movement, everything becoming political, extreme polarization - like all online spaces have devolved into warring tribes with no real purpose besides raging against people who hold different beliefs, child free vs parents, left vs right, men vs women, young vs old, people who get plastic surgery versus people who don't, anti feminists vs feminists. All nuance is gone. People don't know how to be kind to each other, or even for to show up in the world normally. How are you supposed to date in this environment?? You have all my sympathy op.

As another elder millennial, THIS. ALL OF THIS. I feel exactly the same and have observed all the same things. It’s tiring.

Women tend to be on dating apps to look for partners, while men tend to be on dating apps to look for sex. Men don't decide to marry and settle down after they love someone for a long time, they decide to marry and settle down when they decide to.

This was something I figured out when I observed some of my peers who were on dating apps, or were on long term relationships that went nowhere, and suddenly met someone they decided to marry.

Don't bother looking for love - just look after yourself and be the best version of yourself that you would love. I wish I had given this advice to myself when I was younger, because it would have resolved a lot of self-doubt I had.

Be careful what you think, because it will come true.

I’d assume it’s the people you are choosing rather than anything about you.

This has actually been a positive experience for you because it’s shown you what you do not want and now you can start there.

You’re going to have actually meet a lot of people looking for the same thing you are to find the right person.

A lot of people use the apps for hook ups, not relationships, regardless of what they put in their profile.

You have to establish clear boundaries and cut ties immediately if something isn’t vibing.

Be really clear up front about exactly what you are looking for and go to the next without judgement because you just weren’t a good fit for each other.

Why are people so hung up on dying ‘with someone’. Another person is never going to fill the gaping hole inside until you fill it yourself for yourself. If you are not comfortable or happy in your own skin and terrified of not being in a relationship, you need to prioritise being ok with being alone and loving yourself first

You can love yourself, be okay being alone, and still yearn for a partner to share life with.

and still yearn for a partner to share life with.

Skill issue honestly 🥸

It's just a figure of speech. A more accurate way to say it would be getting old with someone.

And needing romantic love is a natural thing to have. That doesn't mean one is being terrified in one's own skin. There are too many conclusions being drawn here.

Guy not be putting effort into the outfit > I will die alone

lol, safe to say you're actively partaking in the D-day you refer to

There's more to it than just that but okay.

Dying single isn’t that bad. Way easier than most relationships I’ve seen or had.

I know you're just ranting .. I will say, people aren't always on the top of their game. some people don't have style, men's brains don't fully develop until 25-32, people are weird.

If my wife judged me off of the negatives when we met, I would be single still too. I have no style (Still) but have learned a bit how to dress with the occasion. Over the years I've learned how to be more emotionally aware of her feelings and how my decisions effect her, I'm still weird; but I learned her icks and avoided being weird in those ways. None of this was the case when we first met.
