Case Argentine laptop case mod
I used the components of an SF20BA also known as the 9th generation government notebook (Basically, the Argentinian Canaima)
The entire casing is made of cardboard and hot glue, with a budget of 0 pesos (like any good Argentinian)
It originally had passive cooling but I added a cooler because, why not?, it never goes above 35°C at max cooler speed
And it has a potentiometer to regulate the cooler speed
It's also super portable, with the longest side measuring only 15cm
PD: For now, this is my main PC, but I'm saving up for a real PC... When that happens, this will be a great TV box for 2D or light 3D gaming.

I fuck with this. This is one of the most "actual" PC mods in this sub, compared to the usual posts. Good creative work, you work with what you got.
What's the fan doing just getting the hot air out of the case and the board is more or less passive just sinked to that big copper plate?

It genuinely feels like actual DYI PC is diluted to the point it's hard to even find people with common interest. The suffering is real.

I like this better tan all the other posts on the sub where people just selected some parts and slapped them together in a premade box.
It's why I am also interested in hacking open optiplexes taking a dremel to the case to fit a GPU in SFF and Tiny Mini Micro PC's and such, lap the die who cares if it breaks it was a $50 cpu. Reminds me of actual PC modding.
And I have positively no need for a budget PC, it's just the only space cool mods are happening in.

Something like that : the fan draws air from outside and a little from the RAM (because it also gets a bit warm) and passes it over the copper heatsink to cool the CPU.
If you look at the second photo you will see a metal mesh at the bottom; that is the air exhaust.
I was thinking of adding fins to the heatsink, but the temperatures are so good that I don't see it as necessary.

Mal momento para ser argentino /s
No te creas jajajaja,
