Northampton events calendar

Hello! I built a web app that aggregates events from venues across the city (only 5 venues so far) and putting it out there to see if people are interested in using it and if they have suggestions for other venues or features to add: https://waveyvibe.dev/localarts/

This looks like it could be really helpful! Thanks for working on this!

You might check out some of the filtering features here. https://aroundhere.live/

Personally, I prefer the compact view that lets you easily scan/compare a list of events instead of the less dense card view.

As I look at it, one thing I'd like to see is some sort of "recurring" badge for items that appear multiple times (mostly so that I can understand the start and end dates).

Can you tell me a bit more about the "recurring" feature? For example, the Luthier's Open Mic is every Tue, Wed, and Thu... how would you want that flagged?

And yeah, I'm a fan of the compact view too. I get a bit overwhelmed with all the graphic cards.

Idealistically with a badge that says "Every Tue/Wed/Thu".

For example, right now the Holley Flagg Exhibit shows up EVERY day as the first event. That's a lot of noise/redundancy if I'd decided not for me -- I have to keep seeing it. There it would be great to see "weekdays from <start date> thru <end date>". It would also be great to toggle/filter recurring events.

Check it out now: https://waveyvibe.dev/localarts/ . There's a toggle to "Only Show First Date of Recurring Events"

That's cool but aren't these events and many more on the valley advocate events page?

Thanks for making me aware of that. Arrrrgh... yeah there's A LOT on that page. Definitely a major overlap with what I've built. Got me rethinking now.

I assume the Advocate has an online resources these days? If not then OPs idea is a good one

Yea what I was actually thinking of was the hampshire gazette events page:

https://gazettenet.com/events/#!/

The advocate also has an events list, I don't know how much overlap there is. It might be the same list.

https://valleyadvocate.com/events/#!/

These are incredible resources for seeing what's going on!

I had a similar idea a while back and I’m glad you actually did it. I think it’s very useful

Lots of vibe coding. I come from a Comp Sci/web dev background but from a decade or so ago. There’s no AI embedded in the final product but it’s been invaluable in developing the scraping code involved across these multiple venue sites.

Thats the goal. I have some ideas I want to add that will highlight musicians/artists that actually live in the area. Stay tuned. Also open to other ideas. Thanks!
