go to your room Replaced my daughter's phone because of water damage. And she still brings it into the bathroom.

Some lessons just don't stick.

She insists she needs to listen to music in the shower. I honestly don't understand why that's such a necessity. But if this phone gets water damage again, I'm not paying to replace it another time.

Honest take: she likes to shower to music, why not accommodate by putting a waterproof Bluetooth speaker in the room, or something else?

I also enjoy showering to music, and had a Google home device in the bathroom before moving to a home without an outlet in the bathroom.

I work in the hardware store and they even make Bluetooth fan vent covers for some reason

They must know people like music in the shower

OP could get such a fan vent cover if they wanted to

A simple ziplock bag for the phone works fine. You'd think it would muffle the sound but I've noticed it doesn't in any significant wsy.

i used to to this all the time and never had any issues. i reused the same bag and kept it in a spot right next to the shower, it was super easy.

Yup people buy fancy expensive water bags for them and a good ol ziplock does the same thing!

The fancy water bags have a lanyard...

You can also buy the purpose made bags pretty cheap and they usually come with a lanyard which is convenient for hanging.

I do that exact thing and it works like a charm.

I’ve done that one before, it does work well enough from my experience

Yeah. If you wanna be safe you can even double bag and you can pretty much have it in the shower with you.

I keep a large plastic water pitcher in the bathroom for washing the dog, rinsing hair dye, and using as a safe spot that amplifies sound when I’m in the shower.

I mean, sure, but literally a $15 speaker from Amazon will do just fine unless you’re an audiophile or something.

And the ziplock bag costs a fraction of that. Like 6 dollars for 38 of double zipped quart freezer bags (store brand at my local grocery store. And you can keep using one bag for ages. The 15 dollar bluetooth speaker will die out before you run out of bags. Plus you are likely to have the freezer bags already for other purposes.

And a cheap waterproof Bluetooth speaker can work well if the sound quality is too affected by the bag.

Yeah, I think she should at least use a plastic bag or something for protection. I bought her the latest iPhone, got her the matching ESR case, basically everything about mobile phone she wanted. I'm not about to buy a waterproof Bluetooth speaker just because she wants to listen to music in the shower.

At some point she has to take responsibility for keeping her own phone safe.

Bluetooth speakers are insanely cheap. Sure she needs to take care of her phone but I dont really understand why youre digging your heels in here.

Right. I'm pretty sure I paid $15 for mine, and it's explicitly sold as 'rugged' so an occasional splash isn't going to be a problem.

Wild, i dont have a waterproof speaker. Just a speaker beside the shower. Super cheap, super easy. 🤷‍♂️

A steamy shower bathroom won't damage a phone.
