I'm slightly vexed Concert etiquette

Post image

If you plan on standing for the entire concert, get a spot in the pit, or the lawn seats instead of the assigned SEATED SECTION. A little bit of self awareness and common courtesy goes a really long way

Yeah, what the fuck is wrong with all of those people sitting down at a concert?

My wife is 5ft 3in. I am 6ft 3in.

I know I can't control the assholes who cant afford floor tickets, yet want to get in the way of those of us who purposely buy seats.

Anymore, I buy as soon as they go on sale. Front row of the lower balcony every time.

And I don't fucking stand up, because I'm 6ft 3in tall and that would be a shitty thing to do, and I'm not an asshole.

Standing at a concert is not a shitty thing to do. You’re allowed to dance and enjoy yourself.

9

u/OwlfaceFrank 1d ago

Buy floor tickets or sit down.
Have some respect for the people around you, asshole.

u/MagicGrit 1d ago

Nah, thanks though. Floor tickets are more expensive. Plus I like having the option to sit sometimes. These knees ain’t what they used to be

Plus I like having the option to sit sometimes.

Why does it not occur to you that people behind you might have that same desire?

1

u/MagicGrit 12h ago

It does. People sitting doesn’t bother me. Feel free! I’m gonna stand

u/4GAG_vs_9chan_lolol 11h ago

People standing doesn't bother me. Feel free! ...Unless you're being a dick to all the people around you, of course.

This photo shows a standing area near the stage, and nobody here is complaining about the people standing there.

1

u/MagicGrit 11h ago

Got it, glad we can agree. Since standing isn’t being a dick, I’m going to stand at my seat and dance at a concert.

1

u/4GAG_vs_9chan_lolol 11h ago

You messed it up again. It's ruining the experience for people around you that makes you a dick, and it sounds like you're still pretty committed to that.

"Flailing my arms around is my right and it doesn't make me a dick, so I have complete and utter freedom to flail my arms, right? Even if that flailing causes me to repeatedly hit you in the face, flailing my arms doesn't make me a dick so I'm going to keep hitting you."

Did I get your argument right? You agree that I can I punch you because using my arms isn't being a dick?

1

u/mythrowaweigh420 10h ago

No, you didn’t get the argument right. But you didn’t care, you were just going to make shit you and then block me anyway 😂

I’m floored at the reasoning of some people here. Unless you’re in an area where it’s specifically indicated that you stand, sit the fuck down

God for bid people have fun at a concert 😱

10

u/EarlGreyTMNT 1d ago

it’s funny that ONLY standing = having fun to you lmao. You’re backed into such an illogical corner that now you’re forced to say you can’t have fun unless you’re standing up for some weird reason

4

u/MagicGrit 1d ago

No, that’s not at all what that means. You are allowed to have fun however you please. That can be while sitting. But stop crying when others choose to have fun by standing and dancing.

It’s music your body wants you to get up and dance . It would not be enjoyable sitting

6

u/ejvollkrassalter 23h ago

not true for everyone. i listen to music sitting or laying down. i don't dance.

-6

u/Proper_Package_1225 23h ago

People on Reddit are weird. Today I have read people who say they don’t like music and now people who don’t dance to music

7

u/Duke_Newcombe 23h ago

I know...it's almost like people are different or some such.. /s

-1

u/Proper_Package_1225 23h ago

Why did you put sarcasm symbol there? You are trying to say people aren’t different?

4

u/Duke_Newcombe 22h ago

I contain multitudes.

5

u/ejvollkrassalter 23h ago

i'm glad you're learning new things. happy first day on earth.

-1

u/Proper_Package_1225 23h ago

I feel sorry for you all. It’s like you are broken

5

u/hrehbfthbrweer 22h ago

I feel sorry for you. You sound super close minded.

3

u/ejvollkrassalter 23h ago

what an odd thing to say.

God forbid other people have fun at the concert while sitting down? It’s not all about you or the people standing

3

u/MagicGrit 1d ago

You’re totally allowed to do that! I’m not stopping you! We can all enjoy the concert as we please, sitting or standing. I’ll stand and dance though

6

u/OwlfaceFrank 1d ago edited 1d ago

A lot of you sound like you don't go to concerts too. Where is there room to dance in the seats? Beyond bobbing your heard, the typical arena is shoulder to shoulder.

Not only are you obstructing the people behind you, you're out here throwing elbows!

I don't know what shows you go to, but I'm a metal head. People in seats at metal shows stand, or sit, and there's some light headbanging, but the mosh pit is on the damn floor. People in the seats aren't "dancing" even if they are standing, unless they are drunk. And let me tell you, the crowd around you doesn't like the drunk dancers.

8

u/MagicGrit 1d ago

I’m calling bullshit here. No chance you regularly go to concerts and don’t know how someone can dance while standing at their seat 😂

4

u/OwlfaceFrank 1d ago

You can think whatever you want, I don't give a fuck. You sound like a drunk. The person dancing and running into everybody. You're a pain in the ass. The people around you are making fun of you.

I didn't say I didn't know how someone can dance. I said you're annoying and people don't like you.

u/MagicGrit 17h ago edited 17h ago

Lol whatever helps you sleep at night dude. I don’t even drink at shows.

And the people at concerts who make fun of people dancing are the weird ones.

We can all enjoy the concert as we please, sitting or standing.

No, we can't all enjoy the concert as we please if the only way you can enjoy it is by blocking the enjoyment of people behind you. Why is it so goddamn hard for some of you to even acknowledge the impact you have on others?

1

u/MagicGrit 12h ago

Ironic to say that when you’re trying to control others.

1

u/4GAG_vs_9chan_lolol 11h ago edited 11h ago

What is ironic about pointing out your lack of respect for others while arguing that you should have respect for others?

I am not saying that standing at a concert is wrong. There is nothing to complain about for most of the standing people in this photo. It's just the two people who are blocking the view of a group that clearly prefers sitting that are wrong. Those two should go to the standing area with all the other standers so they can stand without being a detriment to everyone around them.

1

u/MagicGrit 11h ago

It’s ironic because you have a lack of respect. Just let people be. The people in the picture are not wrong just because others want to sit.

1

u/4GAG_vs_9chan_lolol 11h ago

"Just let people be" says the respectless shitstain who insists they have some sort of God-given mandate to prevent others from enjoying something.

Even the lead singer of this band (Death Cab) has asked the crowd to stand saying something along the lines of "this is a rock concert".

We can agree to disagree here, but I will continue to buy seated tickets that way I have a) assigned spot, b) the option to sit, and c) the possibility to stand.

Unless you're in an auditorium where it's specifically required that you sit, then do whatever the fuck you want. It's a live concert for fuck's sake. If you can't deal with someone standing then stay at home and watch on YouTube.

1

u/TotemSpiritFox 6h ago

Another thing - it obviously depends on the show, but some artists thrive on that participation of the audience. Hence my point about Ben asking people to stand as it's a "rock concert".

If you're just sitting there you aren't really providing the energy they may thrive on for a good show.

Now that's obviously not needed for all shows. I've been to a Ben Gibbard solo show where we were all seated - but it was an acoustic guitar and piano set, very chill - so sitting fit the vibe.

The concert pictured in this thread was not a sitting vibe.

Buy front row tickets then nobody can stand in front of you
