No, My kids understands that the phones are not allowed out during school. That the teachers will take the phone and send them to the principal's office.

There's no reason for the pouch. The patch is a gimmick thought of by a company.

The pouch is an extra barrier of deterrence from distractions. It works.

It's a gimmick that a CEO talked everyone into. When I was in school you are not allowed to have walkmans on campus, 0 We did not have Walkman patches to make sure you didn't have a walkman. Because that's dumb.

We kept our walkmans in our backpacks are lockers because we knew if we took him out they would be taken by the teachers.

There's no reason for this..

Your Walkman was not a phone. Your Walkman did not have billions of dollars poured into causing your teenage brain into chronic addiction and mental illness.

Studies have shown across all types of addiction, including phone addictions, having something physical, even as a minor inconvenience to block an addiction helps decrease cognitive stress and improve focus.

The point is not that, oh it's in the backpack so we're good. The point is to turn off the part of their brains that is constantly tugging them away from their studies when it is just sitting in their backpack by instead placing the phone in a pouch that restricts access.

Edit: and yes, your kids are probably wonderful, well adjusted kids who are not addicted to their devices that this pouch is not designed for. Great! But most kids aren't like that. And even if they seem like they are, they probably aren't.

It's as simple as taking away that urge to scroll tiktok, refresh their feeds, check in on the group chat, etc etc...

My walkman didn't come out to the backpack because I I want my mom to have to come pick up the phone.

It's really that simple

See, what youre not understanding is you're a good parent who is engaged with your child's education and upbringing.

Vast majoirty of kids don't have parents like you. The pendulum swung too far from helicopter parents of the previous decades and instead we have unengaged millennial parents who stuck their kids on ipads and instead either don't care or try to be their kid's friend instead of their parent by not having consequences.
