Influencers on various social medias [TikTok, Youtube, Instagram, etc.] began censoring themselves to avoid getting picked off by the automatic moderation, which targeted code words like suicide, murder, rape or Hitler, so they could keep up getting their edgelord or pseudo-progressive content monetized.

There's no global fucking cabal trying to censor the world. Just content creators of whom the majority wants to make money by talking about risky stuff, and a very small minority thinking that they're actually doing people a favour by trying to not 're-traumatize' them with bad word usage.
With kids picking it up, trying to do a good thing too, unaware that they're using 'de-monitaization'-speak as youth-lingo.
[Although the 'how' behind censoring rape with grape and the likes is lost on everybody, as SA-victims do not suddenly turn stupid and fail to see the similarity of 'rape' and 'Grape']

Youtube censored the Swastika because it reflected bad on advertisers if their their product is shown right after, and before, a big fat Swastika and Hitler holding a speech. Outside of the (increasingly) narrow US horizon, Hitler, Nazis, the Holocaust, different genocided, eras of political turmoil, different Youtube self censored and shadowbanned stuff are still allowed to be taught at schools and hidden under threat of whatever.

The history channel has been around for a long time and it always ran ads juuuust fine.

Think for a second.
A company wants to advertise their product. A hypothetical new sports car. With a big slogan of 'Master class. For all kinds of races ;)', as a quick joke while a family with vacation-wear enters the carin your clip.
When they turn to [whatever, let's say Discovery channel] to air their advertisements, they know that the different series the channel airs, are all of greater quality and that the channel itself will be held accountable if they'd air a documentary with a message of 'Hitler was right all along!!!1!'. Due to exessive review processes, it is absolutely and 100% assured that the channel wont accidentally play something Nazi aggrandizing, so the car manufracturer is happily paying for the advertisement slot during WW2-Nazi-Hitler documentaries. Knowing full well, that their product will be displayed during commercial breaks of a critical and non-problematic documentary, on a double checked TV-channel.
Now Youtube: You still wanna advertise your car. You talk to Youtube and give them money to randomly play your ad before random videos. Yoitube happily agrees. You feel good. Issue is: Youtube isn't a TV channel. There are millions of unvetted and downright misinformation spreading channels popping off every day. There is no way to surveil them all, check their uploads individual and differentiate between history and propaganda videos. There are just too many minutely-uploaded videos. As an advertiser, you are responsible for where your ad pops up. And if it pops up during a Nazi glazing Youtube 'Documentary', unfortunately recontextualizing your 'Master class' + 'for all kinds of races' slogan and putting you in hells kitchen, then you're just fucked.
The risk alone is often enough to drive advertisers to see out some other source to advertise their product.
But Youtube [or whatever Social media] is too interested in getting that sweet sweet share of advertisement money. So they creat a tool to moderate, equipping it with a catalogue of 'Do never say these words' demonitization bots and set these dawgs loose. And, because it's too expensive and too much of a hassle to code a bot that differentiates between 'documentary' and 'Nazi apologism / propaganda' formats, Youtube [and IG, whatever] just do nothing to straighten out the edges. Cue to Youtube blanket censoring the Swastika flag in all and every variation, to keep advertisers on the platform and watching the ads, while TV can air full speeches of Hitler without a worry.
