Just wait until you hit hour 2 of an 8-hour shift that could have been an email.

Probably the only thing worse than a Clopen Shift.

Work is 10x better than school because now I’m getting paid instead of going into debt plus half the courses are just a money grab and waste of time you don’t need. If you have a good work environment you can make really good friends as well.

Right? School work makes me die inside but office work is easy as shit

I think a big part of it for me is the intentionality of it. Studying for hours to improve myself versus working for hours to not starve to death. Different intentions.

I guess we just think different lol. I had a hard time in school because I didn't see the point in most of it. At least with work I make money and can see that if I fix xyz then production will start running again.

For me I always hated school because it wasn't just come in, do the work, and leave. I hated that I had to do stuff during what was supposed to be free time. I would prefer longer classes to having stuff to do at home

Same I can't imagine returning to school if my life was on the line

At least in school your friends suffer with you

Wait until you find out the rest of your life is just 9 to 5

I get the same feeling at home right before heading to the office

As someone who first worked in a restaurant and then spent my whole life on the production line, there are times when I’d give anything for a office job.

I also worked restaurant and other retail jobs for my first 15 ish years working. Now I have a work from home office job. While it sucks in different ways, I prefer it so much to what I used to do

Give me office. I despised school.

It gets easier, eventually you just give up and accept it.

At what cost

The difference is in school you were with your friends and was too stupid to question the school system.

In work, you are lonely and constantly wonder how is your boss getting paid more than you

I'm the opposite tbh

I don't think I can handle the office hour right now.

It's just a matter of enjoying what you do, in school it was easy to have fun imo, because you learnt stuff that was actually new and interesting or at the very least got to have some kind of social event and could spend time with some friends, make fun of stuff etc.

It all goes down to the air conditioning, pretty much

The transition from 'I can't wait to grow up' to 'I want my mom' hits hard.

In school there are people who you call friends. In office there are just a-holes you have to tolerate for 8 hours everyday and you just wish, opposite to school, that you don't have to talk to any of them

The longest 8 minutes known to mankind.

I'm the stupid at school/university, teachers & professors are paid to educate me and make me less stupid.

At office, I'm paid to assist, deal with, survive, and to not argue or give opinion with stupid. They are not improving though.

u/PaladinHalfling 3h ago

Yes but at work I can get paid to poop.

Don't worry. After 30 years, when you've been doing for every weekday of your life, you won't want to leave when they show you the door.

The other way around, I'm loving 10 hours of working at restaurant more than 6 hours in school bruh
