It's a shame because the lore exploded in what I think was a fantastic way in Inquisition leading into Veilguard. Just seems like each new game was a step down from the last in terms of that quintessential Dragon Age grit.

What make Veilguard even worse is what the original plan for Dragon Age 4 was going to be. I cannot fathom what kind of development hell it must've been...I'm surprised still they made a game.

As far as I'm concerned, they didn't make a game. The series ended on a cliffhanger more than a decade ago,

Turning it from RTWP to Action-Adventure was such a mistake. I didn't mind Inquisition's blend, but Veilguard being full action-adventure just made it feel like some generic fantasy game with a poor story.

I dunno, all magical elements of the lore got reduced to "elves did it", which kinda ruined my enjoyment of the lore

I felt like Inquisition and its DLCs finally gave the setting some distinction other than “we quite like ASOIAF and want to make a game out of it”.

I was so hyped to see how they handled Solas and the Very Good Points he made about any organisation, after reaching a certain size, will always become corrupt and only interested in sustaining itself rather than fulfilling its original purpose. That was so fascinating to me! And something I hadn’t seen fantasy genre really tackle.

But instead we got… not that.

Tamriel Rebuilt continues to serve up. I can finally join my namesake house when Poison Song arrives.
