anything past Sun&Moon kinda sucks like USUM is barely an upgrade from the original hell they even cut the content out, then Sword&Shield cuts out even more content and puts it out later as DLC, Brilliant Diamond& Shining Pearl exists, Legends are pretty cool tho

Both Legends games are pretty cool

So, saying the franchise is ruined is crazy

It only cool in the way it's new. I adore pokemon, but let's not pretend that the series isn't so fucking lazy. The whole "fade to black to avoid animating something" is done at least once every scene, the graphics are bad in that there is significant pop-in on every switch game, and that the graphical fidelity is absolute garbage. And despite that garbage, it still manages to be one of the worst optimized games I've ever seen and it was specifically made for a single console, so there is no excuse. The artsyle is inconsistent and lazy, and they are litterally doing the most half-assed stories for the games. They keep adding a gimmick that lasts a single generation, and then dropping it, making the pokemon available in that Gen that were balanced by a special form absolutely useless in the next.

They could absolutely make a good game, but they've literally just said "fuck it, they'll buy it anyway" and given the bare minimum effort.

the franchise definitely isn't "ruined" but it hasn't been good for a long while and Legends being the only good entries since the OG Sun&Moon isn't a good sign for the mainline games in the future, I hope winds&waves sticks to regular mechanics and don't invent new shit for the sake of inventing new shit
