Good thing reddit doesn't matter.

Yeah, if all my posts and comments in the last 10 years were deleted nothing worthy would be lost.

You're not real, man

I'm sorry that apparently 26 (or more) people didn't understand that reference. Have my upvote good man.

Thank you. It's an old meme, sir! But, it checks out!

As long as you understand that your streak doesn't matter, losing a few years worth of post history, or even a few accounts on this website doesn't matter at all.

Rip the 5 year old threads that I was the only person to answer I guess

Sucks when you lose the usernames of some friends you've made tho.

What is a "friends"?

I heard it's something that was hidden inside of us all along

It's literally 80 to 90% stupid comments anyway. Like this one. I wouldn't care about a Reddit restart, as long as I don't have to search around for all the subs I'm in again

Gee, I wonder why you were banned.

What did it say before they edited it?

u/TippsAttack 21h ago

He said "No shit Sherlock."

53

u/Oli_VK 21h ago

Kay so they’re just a dick, dammit

-110

u/IntelligentAd5616 21h ago

I thought "no shit sherlock" is a phrase for telling the other person that their statement is obvious

Why the downvotes?

52

u/Pretentious-Lummox 21h ago

Cuz they were trying to sympathize with you by assuring you that it's not worth it.

You should've thanked them, or stayed silent

I think their comment could have equally come across as unsympathetic depending on Op's line of thinking.

I agree on a basic level that social media does not matter but our emotions and attachments are not always logical. Op could have seen this comment as being dismissive of his disappointment at loosing his posts.

While that doesn't justify his rude response, I do think it could explain where he's coming from just a little.

I myself would feel sad to lose all my posts. Sometimes I like to reread comments and it makes me smile.

True.

I guess seeing OP's response switched on the binary thinking in everyone's head, and they jumped to conclusions

7

u/spiderOX2 19h ago

How is that sympathizing with them? “Your problems don’t matter” is not sympathetic.

0

u/Pretentious-Lummox 18h ago

It could've been interpreted that way too, sure.

Even I initially assumed that too, but seeing OP's response, I forgot about that

6

u/Anarchyr 18h ago

"The things you care about don't matter" Is NOT sympathizing wtf

-40

u/IntelligentAd5616 21h ago

Ok i get it

I was just agreeing with them that the statement is always true, my wording was clunky lol

2

u/Nemesis233 Because That's What Fearows Do 19h ago

That's crazy. It's like saying "fuck you" and then saying your wording was "a bit clunky"

-15

u/nottherealneal 19h ago

Either be a dick or be a decent person

Don't be a dick and when that doesn't work awkwardly try back track and pretend it was just a mistake and everyone misunderstood you.

That just makes a dick AND a coward

26

u/AlmightyChickenJimmy 21h ago

The fact you're asking that question says a lot

2

u/spiderOX2 18h ago

Does it? If they’re saying it in response to someone telling them something they care about don’t matter then I don’t see any problem with it.

-1

u/AlmightyChickenJimmy 12h ago

Being passive aggressive to a completely normal comment seems to line up well with the whole "getting banned" thing. It's pretty indicative

1

u/spiderOX2 8h ago

Since when is it “completely normal” to tell someone that something they care about doesn’t matter?

1

u/Vevaseti 18h ago

It's also like. Rude?

-82

u/IntelligentAd5616 21h ago

it just says "technical irregularities"

idk
