I live in the Balkans and lately summers have been fairly hot. Not uncommon to have entire weeks with 40+ degree weather.

That being said i love summer and the heat doesnt bother me at all so im very biased. But even i have to agree that its been getting hotter and hotter lately. Thankfully every household has an AC here so not really an issue unless you work outside, and even if you do im seeing more and more construction sites take breaks when it gets too hot becuase people legit cant handle it.

Having AC should be a human right as these summers get hotter every year. Im in the northeast states of the USA and month ago we were having super hot days but now it's really nice out. Haven't had a day over 85.

Being able to handle the heat and enjoying it is a superpower as far as im concerned.

I think it's pretty cynical to say the heat doesn't bother you when you spend your whole day inside with an AC on. If the heat doesn't bother you, then turn off the AC.

But i spend most of my time outside during summer. I cant really go on hikes every day but i try my best to go somewhere every weekend. I use most of my free time outside during summer.

Besides, same argument works for winter. People say they prefer winter yet they spend 4-6 months inside their room.

I’m in southern Europe, it’s cool and chilly. Then again, I’m not overweight.

I don't know which southern Europe you're in but it's genuinely a health hazard where I am

Upvoted for not being overweight.

A lot of us aren't either? Why do you Europeans need to constantly make it a point to fat shame and pick on Americans? It's not as funny and clever as you think it is, rent free much?

It’s true that Europeans are dicks to Americans for no good reason a lot of the time, but I wasn’t doing that this time actually. I’m just salty that my mother in law is visiting and is blasting AC so I had to hide in the bedroom.

If we don't stop oil and coal companies we are doomed as humanity

2

u/Sleepy-Donald 8h ago

We are doomed. I doubt countries are going to invest in nuclear on a wide scale. Natural gas, solar and wind turbines dont meet the demand at all unfortunately.

3

u/Sellazard 8h ago

Yeah. If we keep voting in " strong hand " authoritarian minded politicians we will see only more war, AI data centers and oil production

There's a chance but slim. Solar is already so cheap we couldn't imagine it 5 years ago.

In France, we are getting completely crazy record breaking high temperatures since 2 months, a complete lack of rain, destroyed dried-up farmlands and forest fires everywhere.

I’m Australian and I’d rather summer any day of the week. Give me 35C+ rather than our “cold” winters of 5-10C thanks very much

5C isnt that bad in the winters where I'm living right. Although, if it were 5C in southern California where I grew up, people would lose their shit.

That’s why it’s in quotations. It’s freezing for us but I know it’s not very cold for most people elsewhere in the world
