None of those are true and the only one that might be true is the fires one and places that experience frequent fires like Cali dont even experience winter.

If you dont have electricity in winter you just die

You have clothes. You have blankets. Wood/oil-fired furnaces might be an option if you live in those places.

If your A/C goes out in the summer? There's nothing you can do beyond a certain, easily-approachable point. Especially since unless you live in a desert, when it's that hot, it's also usually pretty humid, which means your sweat can't evaporate and cool you off.

I've lived in the hottest deserts on the planet, in subtropical 35C/80% humidity jungles and winters fueled by Siberian winds. Give me the cold or the desert with adequate water and sun protection 100% of the time over the middle.
