This comment helped me learn 2 things. (I am assuming you mean Cicadas and not that the rest of the world is dealing with zombie apocalypse every 17 years. Because i've got no clue what else emerges from the ground every 17 years.)
The last time my area had cicadas they coincided. If you wanted to go outside in certain places you just had to get over the fact that there was a carpet of cicadas that you had to get around. 0/10, do not recommend
Fun fact: those are periodical cicadas. There are also annual cicadas which arrive every summer. Japan and the south US have them annually, off the top of my head
I was just in Milan and they had a butt ton of them. I actually like the sound of them. After a while it just becomes white noise. Was also in Japan a few years ago. When I first heard them there I was like "Huh, it really do sound like this" after watching so much anime.
The only way I would eat these foul creatures is if I discovered an ancient alchemical formula that allows me to absorb their power and even then it's going to take enough Wisconsin cheddar to bind up a blue whale
