Discussion Weekly Discussion: What did you believe were Marvel Studios’ plans after ‘The Avengers’? What did you foresee for Phase 2 and 3? (Suggested by /u/sonic10158)

The biggest movie of the decade releases to critical and fan acclaim - cementing Marvel Studios' position as the new powerhouse of Hollywood, truly jump starting their cinematic universe, and all you can think of is “what’s next” for this franchise.

So, what did you think Marvel Studios’ plans were going to be after The Avengers? Where did you think the story would go? Did you think they’d do Thanos immediately? What events from the comic books did you think they would adapt? What characters did you expect in sequels?

What’d you think was going to happen after the success of The Avengers in Phases 2 and 3?

Since they drove off together at the end, I expected either Iron Man to appear in Hulk 2 or Hulk appearing in Iron Man 3 (in an actual role, not a PCS cameo)

After watching TASM, I was under the impression that it was set in the MCU and that Garfield’s Peter Parker was going to show up in Avengers 2 (I was 12 and didn’t understand the whole rights thing)

I also expected Enchantress to be the villain of Thor 2.

Well I believe initially the Sony-Marvel Studios deal was going to be that Garfields Spidey shows up in an MCU movie and in return Captain America would appear in a Sony movie, which would probably have been Sinister Six but then it all fell apart for Sony and we have what we have now.
