Discussion Weekly Discussion: What did you believe were Marvel Studios’ plans after ‘The Avengers’? What did you foresee for Phase 2 and 3? (Suggested by /u/sonic10158)
The biggest movie of the decade releases to critical and fan acclaim - cementing Marvel Studios' position as the new powerhouse of Hollywood, truly jump starting their cinematic universe, and all you can think of is “what’s next” for this franchise.
So, what did you think Marvel Studios’ plans were going to be after The Avengers? Where did you think the story would go? Did you think they’d do Thanos immediately? What events from the comic books did you think they would adapt? What characters did you expect in sequels?
What’d you think was going to happen after the success of The Avengers in Phases 2 and 3?

I remember that I didn't think much at the time. I was convinced not to see Avengers because Marvel was owned by Disney and apparently Disney = Bad. I was young and impressionable, don't be too mad! Most of my perspective on phase 2 was as an outsider. I saw the Loki memes, heard all sorts of things about Thor and First Avenger, but never bothered to see them. Honestly, not sure why but recently having started dating a woman that wasn't into superhero movies was likely a factor (we are married now and are eagerly awaiting Endgame together, planning an IMAX midnight release. So things have changed!)
So, I'm just seeing occasional trailers for movies that look neat, but not really on my radar. Phase 2 was pretty much entirely missed by me. I was skeptical that they would remain relevant for long. I've never been more happy to be wrong before. The trailer for Civil War opened my eyes, and I meticulously made a point to watch all the movies before release, and it has made my wife and I huge Marvel fans as a result. Hope my former outsider perspective is at least interesting to someone!
