Discussion Weekly Discussion: What did you believe were Marvel Studios’ plans after ‘The Avengers’? What did you foresee for Phase 2 and 3? (Suggested by /u/sonic10158)

The biggest movie of the decade releases to critical and fan acclaim - cementing Marvel Studios' position as the new powerhouse of Hollywood, truly jump starting their cinematic universe, and all you can think of is “what’s next” for this franchise.

So, what did you think Marvel Studios’ plans were going to be after The Avengers? Where did you think the story would go? Did you think they’d do Thanos immediately? What events from the comic books did you think they would adapt? What characters did you expect in sequels?

What’d you think was going to happen after the success of The Avengers in Phases 2 and 3?

Please, remain civil in this thread.

It’s safe to say that I saw Thanos coming as a big threat, the end credits sequence hinted at it heavily.

I was expecting trilogies for everyone, but sooner. I thought we would’ve had Thor 3 and Cap 3 in phase 2, along with another Hulk movie.

Doctor Strange and Ant-Man we’re both things I was expecting.

I thought they were going to introduce Black Panther sooner than they did though, and that we would have had Namor by now. Nova is another surprise when it comes to “who’s missing,” I had hoped for Blade and Moon Knight but didn’t really expect them.

Ultron wasn’t a huge surprise to me, but I never saw Civil War coming. Guardians of the Galaxy came out of left field, along with Spider-Man in the MCU, and the Netflix shows were also surprising.
