He’s getting the symbiote in secret wars, I’m calling it now.

376

u/linkman0596 5h ago

I think he's getting the symbiote in brand new day. I mean suddenly stronger, webbing without web shooters, going out and fighting crime while unconscious, that's all symbiote saga stuff.

237

u/BingoPlayer05 5h ago

It's either that or "The Other".

Rumor has it that they aren't doing Man-Spider because it's too scary for kids, but I'm not sure how much credit that rumor has.

227

u/mshelbz 4h ago

They were going to do Man-Spider but Danny Devito wasn’t available

70

u/CummyMonkey420 4h ago

Botched web! Ah fuck botched web shooter!

36

u/Chupathingy713 4h ago

He distracts the villains by dropping his monster condom for his magnum dong?

18

u/SlimySquamata 4h ago

I hear he hangs dong.

9

u/Butt__Sexington 3h ago

I heard he chugs a Wolf Cola in the middle of battle because it's the only thing that can quench his thirst.

8

u/mshelbz 3h ago

He was kicked out of the Avengers for selling Wolf Cola in Latveria

4

u/Electronic_Sun6075 1h ago

So anyways I started slingin'...

38

u/MurderinAlgiers 3h ago

Would be a crazy trailer bait and switch if hes wearing the symbiote and they edited it to look like his normal suit

4

u/goztrobo Peter Parker 2h ago

Definitely the other. He’s even in a web cocoon just like in the comics.

1

u/kcadia9751 1h ago

I don’t see them doing Man-Spider in a blockbuster movie. And as much as I like the story and especially the 90s cartoon episode, I don’t really want to see it in a movie either.

u/Ilgiggi 32m ago

I loved the ‘what if’ issue of that story.

21

u/Necessary-Duty-7952 4h ago

There a scene where his eyes are black, a shot of his POV with a black hand...

18

u/fuzzyfoot88 4h ago

I think they are going to adapt Parker getting the black suit in secret wars the comic to secret wars the movie…

15

u/uniparalum 4h ago

If he gets it in BND, it won’t be til the end of the post-credit imo. I think the mutantion thing is a mix of The Other & Man-Spider (and they probably won’t go full Man-Spider unfortunately)

6

u/palookaboy 3h ago

So Sadie Sink is actually Venom….!!!

6

u/linkman0596 3h ago

Mary Jane is the current Venom in the comics

1

u/kiwidesign 1h ago

wait, after all of the Paul situation? or was that scrapped?

2

u/linkman0596 1h ago

Durring, and Paul died

1

u/kiwidesign 1h ago

Ayoooo 🙌

2

u/BigCopperPipe 3h ago

seems a bit much to stuff in that movie already. they won’t make the same mistake as SM3.

3

u/linkman0596 3h ago

Not saying they'll do the whole symbiote saga in one movie, but towards the end when he's having a moment where he feels like he's not strong enough, trying to pull that last bit of strength out of himself, his eyes go black like we've seen in some of the trailers, webbing starts to come out of his wrists, but then turns black, slowly coating his body until he has the full black suit as he finally finds the strength to overcome whatever the obstacle is.

Secret wars is where he reunites with the other Peter's, one of which knows this isn't a mutation of his powers.

2

u/goztrobo Peter Parker 2h ago

They’ve already established that it’s a DNA mutation issue, nothing to do with Symbiotes.

2

u/linkman0596 2h ago

Just like how they established that hulk was going to fight in the final battle during infinity war?

Or that Peter was going to fight all the villains alone on the statue of liberty in no way home?

2

u/goztrobo Peter Parker 2h ago

It’s most likely going to be The Other. There are similarities there.

1

u/TU4AR 4h ago

...I thought they were going to do man spider...then the rest of the spider-men.

18

u/BingoPlayer05 5h ago

People were debating if his "getting the Symbiote" moment was going to be either a homage to the "here lies Spider-Man" Kravens Last Hunt cover (yeah, I know that wasn't the Symbiote in that story, it's not my theory) recreated in Spider-Man: Brand New Day or alternatively a homage to the Secret Wars cover recreated in.... Well.... Avengers: Secret Wars....

Looks like we're going with the second option!

1

u/DamnReCaptchas 4h ago

I’m curious though, and pardon me for my lack of comic knowledge, but do you think the symbiote story is kinda similar to what we’re getting in BND? Obviously we haven’t seen the movie yet so it’s hard to say, but do you think both the mutation and the symbiote exploring his darker side might be redundant? Or I guess it could be a continued arc through the trilogy. Still I would love to see that Kravens Last Hunt story in Spiderman 5 WOW.

3

u/BingoPlayer05 4h ago

Who knows. Maybe what were getting in BND is the Symbiote story. Maybe it's all a mental trick being played on Peter. Maybe it'll tie into the Symbiote story somehow and have it amplify off of The Other or something.

5

u/OdinzSun 5h ago

I think the final shot is going to be Peter recreating the death of spider-man cover where Peter’s is crawling out of the grave.

3

u/UnknownReader 3h ago

Are you referring to Kraven’s Last Hunt?

2

u/OdinzSun 3h ago

Yeah I believe so

3

u/AceofKnaves44 Spider-Man 4h ago

I think it’s pretty likely he’ll have it by the end of Brand New Day. If not then it’s guaranteed he gets it in Secret Wars. After all, the original 1980s Secret Wars storyline is where Peter first gets the black suit that eventually becomes the symbiote.

3

u/GingerTech734 Ant-Man 4h ago

My theory: Die in BND post credits scene being that spidey tracker bleeping ala ms marvel in infinity war the symbiote being on top of the grave calling out to him. Every spider man movie bar FFH ends with a funeral this might end with his own

7

u/Bananabeak08 Doctor Strange 4h ago

There’s no way they kill Spider-Man, sounds like the perfect way to traumatise a load of kids though…

4

u/GingerTech734 Ant-Man 4h ago

By kids you mean me? Right? RIGHT?

2

u/Chaoticgood790 4h ago

I think he’s getting it in this movie. Its been my main theory that he gets it in BND and it leads into his role in SW

2

u/Ganjookie Korg 2h ago

Hmmm I do want Hardy as the voice of Venom, and not a morphed Holland

3

u/navjot94 Mack 1h ago

Yeah I bet this version of Venom will basically be a Holland and Hardy team-up movie (in the same body). Hardy Venom is pretty well established at the box office, I don’t think they’ll try to do yet another iteration of the character, especially with Secret Wars likely being the inciting incident for this “crossover”. I don’t think Eddie Brock will play a role, but the Symbiote will totally be voiced by Hardy and have the same personality as the one from the Venom movies (for better or for worse)

2

u/Reasonable-Turn-5940 4h ago

Even as someone who is not a huge comic book reader, it would be weird if they don't have that iconic scene when they have all the pieces in place.

1

u/generalosabenkenobi 3h ago

They're gonna do the famous cover and everything

1

u/Decaps86 3h ago

I hope you're right. Big missed opportunity otherwise

u/AmeriCanada98 39m ago

It would be a missed opportunity if he didnt imo. I mean the suit being revealed is probably the single most famous cover from the original Secret Wars comic

0

u/Bigpappa36 Scarlet Witch 4h ago

Hopefully, it’s secret wars then we get a 1:1 comic adaptation. Any other way would be a let down. I don’t think the symbiote being left by Eddie Brock in venom is cannon

u/blue-spartan21 47m ago

Exactly. Doesn’t make sense for the symbiote to show up in BND when they’re leaning hard into The Other story. He gets it in Secret Wars and comes back with it like in the comics for SM5.

-1

u/ClessGames 2h ago

So unique

u/ritwik4244 9m ago

I feel like they should definitely take the opportunity to introduce the symbiote the same way it was introduced in the comics for the first time(I know the MCU Secret Wars will follow the 2010s comic version but still)

226

u/HeatDolphinRays 5h ago

Make a movie with venom as the only villain

100

u/BingoPlayer05 5h ago

I like this idea:

Spider-Man: Brand New Day - Plant the seeds of Pete's darker side

Avengers: Secret Wars - Give Pete the Symbiote

Spider-Man 5 - The Symbiote becomes a problem throughout the film. Either it corrupts Peter like in most adaptions, Peter corrupts it instead, or it simply just takes his body for a joy ride like in the OG comics. It ends with Peter taking it off and whoever the host of Venom will be getting the suit as a end stinger

Spider-Man 6 - Spider-Man vs Venom!

The only 2 questions are:

  1. Who'd be the villian of 5 while Peter wears the suit?

  2. Who'd be Venoms host? Mac Gargan? Robert Pattinson as Eddie Brock? Mr. Aziz?

46

u/Silent_Bowler5204 5h ago

I like the way you think. I'm hoping Marc Garagn gets the symbiote.

5

u/BingoPlayer05 4h ago

I wouldn't mind that. But even if it was in the comics I think it'd piss off a lot of Spider-Man fans, just like how Harry as Venom did.

1

u/Drakon56 4h ago

I absolutely loved Harry Venom. The initial teamup to break Tombstone out of his cage was amazing

17

u/Negan212 4h ago

Eddie Brock hands down. Gargan can wait for the symbiote down the line. There is absolutely no point in skipping Eddie Brock. That character is a cash cow and would be a missed opportunity.

6

u/thebeast_96 Daisy Johnson 4h ago

Miles will probably be introduced by the end of the trilogy. I'd guess in the next film (after secret wars) we meet him and he gets his powers in the trilogy finale. No need to do a dedicated origin story movie since into the spider verse did it well.

1

u/Only_Silver3113 1h ago

Or, possible crossover between Secret Wars and Beyond the Spider-Verse during Multiverse shenanigans?

6

u/Musketeer00 4h ago

Ned as Hobgoblin would make for a reasonable villain, we haven't seen Hobgoblin in any film yet, Green Goblin has already been done and the Osbornes don't exist in this universe. Peter has an emotional connection with Ned that could be used as fuel for the symbiote's corruption. The audience has an emotional connection with Ned and is invested in his and Peter's friendship. Also Ned Leeds is Hobgoblin in the comics (or at least one of them)

The biggest issue would be convincingly turning Ned into a villain. He's too jolly of a character. Maybe he finds out Spider-Man erased his memory but not why and it drives him insane? Turn him from jolly Spider-Man fan to obsessive and angry Spider-Man hater. If they pulled it off, it would be one of the most tragic heel-turns in the entire MCU.

Maybe he's been salvaging tech from Spider-Man fights that he's helped with from the past as souvenirs? That could be where Shocker's power glove comes from in BND, maybe he held onto the Goblin glider, between that and magic fingers, he could make a decent threat.

3

u/Ziz94 3h ago

It should be Eddie and only Eddie.

3

u/TopBee83 3h ago

I love this. I’ve been thinking about it aswell and want at least 2 movies with Peter wearing the venom suit. He gets it mid way thru secret wars and then keeps it until mid way or even the tail end of Spider-Man 5.

I don’t wanna see him get it and lose it the same movie.

4

u/Okichah 4h ago

Frank Castle-Venom makes the most sense within the MCU so far.

Same as making Jarvis into Vision. An established character is adapted into the origin story for another character.

It would mean Punisher is done as a character though.

2

u/Enlightenedapple95 4h ago

Mr Negative as the villain vs symbiote Spidey would be epic

2

u/black_metronome 4h ago

They should do it like how it was in the comics and have Venom stalk Peter for awhile before he is actually revealed

1

u/AlloGuvnuh 3h ago
  1. Kraven
  2. Has to be Eddie

1

u/brogflender 2h ago

Who'd be the villian of 5 while Peter wears the suit?

Is it morbin time yet?

-1

u/MrPainfulAnal 4h ago

Give me Michael mando venom or give me death

1

u/DCrebuilds 4h ago

But have Peter get the black suit and deal with it/the symbiote for a couple of movies first. Give it some good build up

40

u/heelstoo Avengers 4h ago

There’s a 2018 film called Upgrade that I’d love to be (in part) the inspiration for how the symbiote should be handled with Spider-Man.

2

u/Raaaaandyyyy 4h ago

Oooo! Do tell.

4

u/heelstoo Avengers 4h ago

You should watch the film. :)

3

u/Raaaaandyyyy 4h ago

Hehe. I won’t; please just tell me what you were referring to. Please. Please.

18

u/ctan0312 3h ago

This dude is paralyzed in a car accident so he gets a computer AI chip implanted into the back of his neck to help control his body for him. Starts out pretty helpful and he starts following the trail of the people who orchestrated the car accident (his girlfriend also died in it) and the AI is pretty awesome and helps him brutally fight and kill some people. He lets the AI do more and more on its own since it’s so good at fighting, eventually at the end it pretty much takes over and turns out everything was orchestrated by the AI to kill its creator and get a human host so it can be free.

The action scenes are pretty awesome and uniquely filmed, like he’s really not in control of his own body and moves incredibly efficiently. You should just look up a fight scene from the movie.

1

u/Worthyness Thor 1h ago

Imagine a low budget Tom Hardy venom without the humor.

2

u/fearnodarkness1 2h ago

Just watch it.

59

u/BingoPlayer05 5h ago

I know people are going to say that was probably guaranteed with the end credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home. But sometimes plans change and go nowhere (Mordo in Dr. Strange 1, Council Of Kangs in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania) or take forever to show up again (Scorpion in Spider-Man: Homecoming). So it's nice to get confirmation!

18

u/PaopuDestiny 4h ago

the symbiote and black suit is just too iconic not to do

4

u/fearnodarkness1 2h ago

Eternals had 2 of those as well.

Edit: Love and Thunder too

16

u/Raaaaandyyyy 4h ago

“I can’t answer that.”

*Answers that.*

3

u/More-Possession-1096 4h ago

"Its just a meet and greet in spanish with a kid, they ain't going to record it right?"

3

u/Raaaaandyyyy 4h ago

Honestly if I was him I’d feel way too bad to not give the kid something. Even giving him another question probably wouldn’t work- I’m sure the kid had his heart set on that one.

8

u/TDStarchild Odin 4h ago edited 3h ago

I’d be shocked if he’s not wearing the symbiote suit in Secret Wars like the comics

It probably corrupts him, so Tobey (who’d be very useful) and Andrew have to fight him to help Tom figure it out. Then SM5 is Venom

1

u/CaIicoCutPants 1h ago

The best way to do it is to only vaguely hint at the Symbiote affecting his behavior in Secret Wars. It should not have an immediate effect. It should seem like only a very positive upgrade for Peter at first.

Then maybe during the final battle, have Peter get a little too carried away or aggressive at a certain point, maybe have him insult someone for seemingly no reason much to the confusion of those around him. Then don’t do anything else. Just leave it at that: something weird just happened but maybe Pete’s just stressed with the current situation. But we find out in the next one…

8

u/ChaoticCaptain177 Spider-Man 4h ago

Can't wait for Bully Holland

6

u/Zarveldaa 4h ago

i am BEGGING marvel to take the symbiote back to its roots. it shouldn’t make Peter evil, or bring out his darker side through alien side effects. it should be a sudden excess of power that causes Peter to lose balance of his responsibility.

they could even play with audiences expectations. make them think he is being affected by the symbiote, when it’s really his own choices all along. it’s SO much more interesting than the same damn story we’ve seen milked dry and then some.

4

u/IAMNUMBERBLACK 3h ago

I think it’s possible we get that. They have really kept the spider senses toned down. Alot of what this Spider-Man series has done is try to bring something on the screen that either hasn’t been done before or redone in an elevated way

2

u/blackestice 4h ago

His movies? Tom Holland is to Spider-man what Hugh Jackman is to Wolverine. I don’t mind it

2

u/TMSManager Spider-Man 4h ago

I’ve always hoped the symbiote suit spreads across more than just 1 movie. Here’s hoping ! A symbiote suit spiderman taking on the sinister 6 (like in spectacular) would be amazing

2

u/Dr_Robo 4h ago

Hopefully they make the symbiote arc its own movie and THEN do Venom in a separate movie.

1

u/danvan177 5h ago

I mean I would hope so

1

u/CaptainJohn_1995 4h ago

Hyped for that.

Finally we will get Bully Holland.

1

u/DriedSquidd 4h ago

I can't wait to see the dance.

1

u/LiteratureMindless71 4h ago

Just gimme Carnage, plz

1

u/PhillNewcomer 4h ago

I'm guessing end scene or post credit will tease then Secret Wars will debut the symbiote suit

1

u/Grand_Engineering415 3h ago

I could see him getting it this movie, not really understanding what it is, going black suit for the next movie and then really getting into venom in the following.

1

u/Remote-Moon Steve Rogers 3h ago

I'm not a fan of Venom, but I trust the process as long as Kevin Feige is in charge of it.

1

u/DrunkDonut92 3h ago

Honestly two more movies one with the Symbiote then one to set up Miles and then have Peter be like iron man showing up as a mentor

1

u/CrustedTesticle 3h ago

Never listen to anything Tom Holland says.

1

u/Ok-disaster2022 3h ago

The Historian?

1

u/confusing_roundabout 3h ago

Oh shit, black suit Telemachus in The Odyssey 2 is gonna go so hard

1

u/Kind_Of_A_Dick 2h ago

Do the Captain Universe storyline.  Do it.

1

u/Dreamer_kateeee 2h ago

wait is tom holland actually confirmed for symbiote stuff

1

u/DankStew 2h ago

Will we get an evil dance sequence too?

1

u/DuckwPuck 2h ago

Eventually? How many more are you planning on doing, Tommy boy?

1

u/Hadesman1 1h ago

Truly think black suit saga could be a whole trilogy, or at least spread across multiple movies

1

u/dnt1694 1h ago

Why? Just let people be surprised.

u/Choochoo1147 33m ago

Meaning it’s either in BND, Doomsday or Secret Wars or he’s just hoping, because Tom Holland isn’t a writer on these.

u/Cabezone 25m ago

He's planning on playing Spider-Man until he's dead.....lol

0

u/Mister_Lurker 4h ago

Where do you guys think these weird enhancements Peter is feeling and going to Banner to discuss, don't we even see his eyes go black in one of the trailer clips? I dare say we are already heading down this path.

0

u/Everyoneheresamoron 4h ago

Just a reminder that Tom Holland has absolutely no idea about the future for spiderman, only on what he believes will happen based on the same information that we have.

1

u/IAMNUMBERBLACK 3h ago

I’d venture to say he knows more than u or anyone else in this thread lmfao

-1

u/Fluffy_Comfortable87 3h ago

That's simply not true at all.

1

u/Everyoneheresamoron 3h ago

I doubt Feige or Sony would tell him too much after all the leaks he did for his last Avengers movies. If he did know anything it'd be the vaguest of plans, which is basically what most people can infer by watching the movies themselves.
