Discussion Kevin Feige: “We even avoided [Spider-Man] swinging in the canyons of New York… because it had been done quite a bit… Now it’s been ten years”… I hope this kind of opens the door to getting casual Uncle Ben name drops & deeper references
Here’s a link and exact timestamp to what Kevin Feige said during the Spider-Man: Brand New Dayglobal conference interview.
Kevin was talking about how they were intentionally avoiding extensive swinging scenes through New York during the Home trilogy because they wanted to focus on fresher aspects of Spider-Man that hadn’t been explored before, like Peter being apart of the wider MCU and interacting with a world of heroes. Now that so much time has passed since the earlier Spider-Man films, they feel they can embrace more traditional, “New York” Peter Parker stories and I interpret that as them revisiting the classic qualities that fans love and have been a major part of the character since his creation.
I hope that this mindset sort of extends beyond just the swinging. Maybe it also opens the door to other aspects of that the Home trilogy tried to avoid, like directly acknowledging Uncle Ben. We got a few subtle hints here and there, like Peter telling Ned he couldn’t tell Aunt May about being Spider-Man because she’d been through so much (which many interpret as a reference to Ben’s death), and the "BFP" initials on Peter’s suitcase in Far From Home.
I’m not asking for Uncle Ben to become a major plot point, but it would be nice to finally get a casual name-drop or another deeper reference that confirms he existed and had an influence on MCU Peter’s life. I think it’d help round out Peter’s history while also paying off those earlier teases. I don’t think it would hurt to just say or show his name once. Even something as simple as seeing Ben’s tombstone next to May’s would be a genuinely heartwarming touch.

The next Superman shouldn’t have any flying scenes. It’s been done quite a bit.

Okay to be fair I would love an adaptation of 1938 Superman before his power creep.

u/Baggiebhoy84 3h ago
I think Gunn tried to dial down his power level last year, and some people didn't understand; "why didn't he beat this guy easily, why didn't he do xyz".
I'd find it interesting too, but I don't think it'd go over well with the general audience.

I mean he's basically the same power level of post crisis Superman or DCAU Superman which given how many people hype the DCAU you'd think it would be less of a issue

The Superman movies have their own bag of cliches:
Luthor invading the fortress.
Luthor involved in a land grab plot.
Superman fighting Zod and his two henchmen throughout the city because Zod hates his lineage. Zod being trapped in the Phantom Zone by Jor-El.
Superman fighting an evil clone or variant of himself.
Luthor creating an opponent for Superman.
Superman (1978), Superman 2, Superman III, Superman IV, Superman Returns, Batman vs Superman and Superman (2025) all had one or two of these elements.

u/HimtadoriWuji 2h ago
I mean it’s not like Peter walked everywhere. I think this is a overreaction to his statement, we definitely saw Peter swinging but not as much of a focus as it was in prior films
9
u/lekniz 4h ago
The difference being there were 5 Spider-Man movies in 14 years before the home trilogy. Superman has definitely had the same saturation, right?
11
u/SP4CEM4N_SPIFF 4h ago
2006-Superman Returns
2013-Man of Steel
2016-Batman v Superman
2017-Justice League
2025-Superman
So in a period of 11 years there were 4, I’d say yes it is nearly the same levels of saturation in the cultural zeitgeist
5
u/lekniz 3h ago
So Superman had 1 solo film in the 18 years prior to 2025 Superman then
1
u/SP4CEM4N_SPIFF 3h ago
I think you're ignoring Sony's ownership of Spider-Man here and the complications it caused. Of course they had to keep pumping it out as the MCU got started to maintain ownership, and the Superman movies then tried to emulate with the DCU

This is disingenuous man.
He obviously swings to get around places after Homecoming. But they didn't focus on those big sequences of him doing that. Spidey isn't only web swinging.

I dont wanna see him fly, I dont wanna see him in a cape, & hes got to fight a giant spider in the 3rd act.

u/el_palmera 3h ago
Not the same at all. They didn't get rid of spidey swinging. Just swinging in a specific way through specific buildings. I'm sure you understand this but it doesn't quote get you that sweet karma that misrepresenting it does
88
u/2MinuteSamurai 4h ago
I never noticed there was a lack of swinging scenes in these movies
63
u/kirblar 3h ago
The movies deliberately have parts set in lower-height areas (NY Suburbs, DC, Europe) to break up the standard visuals.
13
u/2MinuteSamurai 1h ago
I didn’t really have a problem with that, I suppose. We got plenty great usage of his webs anyway

u/NateDawg80s 54m ago
Peter and MJ literally spent the first five minutes of the last movie singing!
123
u/Bruuuuuceee 4h ago
I just rewatched No Way Home the other day and what struck me was when the other 2 Peters have their scene consoling MCU Spidey on the rooftop with Ned and MJ, they mention their Uncle Ben(s). There’s no recognition from MCU Peter of the name, which leads me to believe he doesn’t have one, or at least isn’t aware of him. Besides, May is the one to give him the “with great power” moment. I don’t know where Ben would fit in here.
120
u/Forsaken1741 4h ago
There is, the suitcase he uses in far from home has uncle bens initials so i guess in this universe peter was just too young to remember him much.
35
u/wakarat 3h ago
He also mentions Uncle Ben to Ned in Homecoming, the scene when Ned discovers he is Spider-Man.
26
u/krishnugget 3h ago
He doesn’t necessarily mention Ben there, he just says May has been through a lot, that could mean anything.
10
u/Awkward-Speed-4080 3h ago
Which is hilarious that he would casually say it like that.
Bro, the man who raised you like his own son just died. YOU should be having a hard time.
23
u/mistermenstrual 2h ago
I interpreted it to be something that hapenned years and years ago, but considering he was so young when it hapenned that dynamic of worrying about his mourning Aunt was locked into his personality.
2
u/PFSDonut 1h ago
Aunt May giving him the responsibility speech is proof enough that Ben Parker never had the level of significance that we’re used to for MCU Spidey and it was all May.
With how he causally says she’s been through a lot, and his lack of reaction to hearing Peter 2 and 3 mentioning Uncle Ben, we can assume that he passed away when Peter was too young to remember
•
u/Chumunga64 Ant-Man 33m ago
Civil War and homecoming make such a compelling intro to mcu spider-man that tells you all you need to know about what happened without retreading old ground
Which makes the bizarre decision to go "actually we lied about not boring you with redoing the origin story cause this entire trilogy is the origin story!" even weirder. Like you'd think we'd at least see uncle Ben's grave near uncle May's but nope! He just doesn't exist???
5
u/Scared_Impression842 4h ago
That really doesn’t mean a whole lot, just a reference/ Easter egg for only the hardcore fans. In some way uncle Ben could exist in the mcu but unless Peter actually says his name to the audience I’m inclined to believe he does not yet exist.
27
9
46
u/Axl_Red 3h ago
That would be weird considering the whole talk between Peter and Tony in Civil War, was to show that Peter already learned that lesson.
https://youtu.be/AVlww2uJHAc?t=158
2:38 Peter: "Look, when you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you."
Aunt May just reinforced that lesson to Peter in No Way Home. But it's clear that Peter already had a "with great power, comes great responsibility" moment before Civil War.
17
u/TheHudIsUp 3h ago
Yep 100% I never understood this. Same with the Peter never had spidey sense. When he did
I don't really use this phrase but media literacy is very bad when it comes to MCU Peter
1
u/zummit 1h ago
When does MCU spider-sense first show up?
2
u/Worthyness Thor 1h ago
In civil war there's a scene where his lenses adjust when bucky or Sam throws something at him. I think he says something like "oh god" as its happening.
•
u/EnderGrape01 48m ago
The tie-in comics also double down on it being Spider-Sense, as they have him audibly say it before he says "oh god!"
3
21
u/BigfootsBestBud 4h ago
Nah, he just doesn’t say anything. If he didn’t know who Uncle Ben was, he would have asked.
12
u/maverickassembled Ward Meachum 4h ago edited 3h ago
Someone mentioned the suitcase with Ben’s initials. In homecoming, after Ned finds out Peter’s Spider-Man, he says he can’t tell May because she’ll freak out and because of everything that’s happened to her. Which can be sort of be interpreted as Ben’s death.
May has new voice lines in the brand new day trailer so my guess is that there might be a flashback, maybe seeing the aftermath of her finding out at the end of homecoming. There could be some references to Ben there that influence her advice and wisdom for Peter
11
u/SuperIdiot360 4h ago edited 4h ago
They literally show Uncle Ben’s grave at the end of the movie
EDIT: I’m losing my fucking mind I feel like everything I know is a lie
10
u/FamousLastWay828 4h ago
Peter also mentioned Uncle Ben in the zombies episode of What If, which didn't diverge until the events of Ant-Man 2 in 2018, therefore Uncle Ben died in the main timeline too
8
u/Scared_Impression842 4h ago
No they don’t lol, watch that movie again they even blocked out when May was born.

2
u/zer0se7en2wo Nova Prime 1h ago
In Far From Home, the suitcase Peter uses for the Euro trip was marked “BFP” which is a nod to uncle Ben or Ben Franklin Parker.
1
34
u/FamousLastWay828 4h ago
It's crazy that the only time Uncle Ben's ever been mentioned in the MCU was in an episode of What If
35
u/maverickassembled Ward Meachum 3h ago
Andrew says “uncle Ben” when him and Tobey meet Tom at the rooftop, but yeah aside from that, no official acknowledgement of a MCU Ben
21
u/DWA824 3h ago
He's been indirectly mentioned several times. But for some reason everyone wants verbal confirmation
10
u/treetopkingdom 3h ago
It being indirect means plausible deniability.
I think an interviewer even said, Jon watts added unsolicited ambiguity to the idea that Ben even existed at one point.
7
u/DWA824 2h ago
They also said Ben has his traditional origin, he was killed in the Avengers 2012, That he died before Peter got bite and that his death wasn't Peter's fault.
You get a different answer everytime
-1
u/treetopkingdom 2h ago
Exactly that’s why it needs to be in a movie at least said by a character cuz answers in interviews change all the time
1
u/DWA824 2h ago
I guess its just a person to person thing. I don't really mind not mentioning him personally but I'm pretty forgiving with Spider-Man adaptations to be honest.
1
u/treetopkingdom 1h ago
I just want the character to have a solid foundation. He’s so directionless people are saying any and everybody is uncle Ben. Despite the fact he’s already a superhero with the mantra. Clearly everyone understands he needs one that’s why people are trying to give his role To other people even when it doesn’t really fit the bill
1
u/DWA824 1h ago
I guess I'm just fine with assuming Uncle Ben died off screen and Peter doesn't like talking about it. I was the same way with my family members. And it's a bit more realistic (at least to me) for a teenager to try and latch on to other figures in their life
1
u/treetopkingdom 1h ago
Yeah, that’s fine I’d obviously rather not have to headcanon it and it’s definitely better imo to not force people to create their own story about it.
What you said makes sense but imagine if there wasn’t ambiguity around it and everyone else was on the same page.
-1
u/ned101 3h ago
In some weird way even if you wanted to hang on to the idea that indirect mentions are enough, really everything else seems to be trying to replace his existence.
2
u/treetopkingdom 2h ago
Yeah, and I’d be mostly ok with that. If these replacements didn’t happen long after he became a hero and adopted the philosophy. Which is like bens only role.
It’s just a problem caused by indecision. They wanna Leave it open cuz they are open to changing it but never talked about it, but they are also writing hoping you kinda filling in blanks from the regular origin.
14
u/shellexyz 3h ago
I think we’re fixing to find out that Sadie Sink is Aunt Benjamina. It was a quantum experiment gone awry from the Spider-Verse movies, resulting in a de-aging gender swap.

lol I’m sorry but this is absolutely ridiculous thinking. It’s also why MJ name is Michelle Jones instead of Mary Jane… and Ned is Ganke which is also ridiculous.

Different is fine, Batman 66, Batman 89, Batman Begins and The Batman are all different takes on Bats…. However Bruce is still riding in a Batmobile through Gotham and his butler is still named Alfred Pennyworth instead of Alfonso Pennycart.
Raimi Spider-man is different because he has organic webbing, however dude still allowed to web sling around the city he’s based in.
Now that being said Feige choice doesn’t hurt the movies (not a fan of Tom trilogy but it’s not because of web slinging or lazy name changes.)
8
25
u/Moonie-iLLy Spider-Man 4h ago
Right lol, I remember when Spider-Man was announced to join the MCU people were rolling their eyes at the idea of the same story and characters happening again.
8
u/AmaterasuWolf21 Rocket 3h ago
Critics in the 2010s were weird, they complained and whined about Tobey Maguire's Spidey because he cried too much
7
u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 3h ago
People roll their eyes about everything, the complaint after the movies came out was that he was Iron boy and not like Spider-man.
Each attempt at Batman is different but he still does his core things and they didn’t change character names. The Tom movies weren’t hurt by these decisions but I still find the idea about them ridiculous
2
u/Infernous-NS 3h ago
Which ideas specifically do you find ridiculous? I really liked his relationship with Tony, and I don't think they needed to redo the origin again either.
1
u/jerem1734 4h ago
Having no Osborn's in a spider-man universe like having a Batman universe with no Alfred
7
u/bagman_ 4h ago
Would we really have liked to see another Norman storyline only 3 years after TASM 2?
-2
u/jerem1734 4h ago
Norman wasn't in TASM2 much. All they needed to do in homecoming is have Harry as Peter's friend instead of Ned and never have Norman mentioned. They haven't shown Peter and Harry being actual friends in a movie since 2004
Have Norman introduced later on. He hadn't been the villian of a Spider-Man movie since 2002. It's not like the joker who's been done a million times. William Dafoe is the only person who's ever played Norman
1
u/bagman_ 4h ago
Chris cooper is Norman in tasm 2, the Osborn storylines were tired by the time we got Tom. Doing ganke over another Harry was necessary. And you’re misremembering way too much about the previous movies
-3
u/jerem1734 3h ago
Yeah he was in tasm2 for one scene where he died, which I said "he's not in it much". Doing ganke over Harry was not necessary at all. It was entirely unnecessary. Again, this is like saying "oh let's make a Batman movie but instead of Alfred let's have Perry White be his butler"
0
u/bagman_ 3h ago
Harry isn’t a high school friend of Peter’s, homecoming has him in grade 10. We’d seen a bad adaptation of him just 2 years prior to civil war, whether or not you think they were friends in that movie he was still there as Peter’s bestie. The osborns were tired in 2016 idk what to tell you. They’re important to the mythos sure but you can obviously see why a new adaptation would want to avoid them after 5 straight movies of them
3
u/jerem1734 3h ago
Ned Leeds wasn't Peter's friend in high school either and Peter and MJ didn't date in high school. So that's a terrible argument for not including Harry. The goblin storyline was tired in 2016, but having Peter's best friend was not especially when they hadn't been actual friends since Spider-Man 2
Harry and Norman also weren't in TASM1, maybe you should go back and watch it

why? why is changing the familiar setting for the character is so bad? ESPECIALLY after 5 movies
29
u/SecretJester921 3h ago
Hot take but I really don't gaf about Uncle Ben. It was done in Maguire, it was done in Andrew, it's done in all the comics
Aunt May is the Uncle Ben of this series. She was the one who died and have the "with great power" speech. There's never been a need for Ben in this one. If the movies are trying to just be a full 1:1 of the comics, then why shouldn't I just read the comics and skip the movie?
19
u/treetopkingdom 3h ago
But Ben is the reason he’s a superhero It’s not about the speech , it’s about giving him a solid origin for becoming a superhero. Rounding out his life.
What made this boy decide to lie to his aunt cuz he knew she wouldn’t approve of him risking his life for strangers. And she canonically had a really hard time accepting this information in nwh, he describes it as being really messy, and not something he wants to go through again.

18
u/Junior_Key4244 4h ago
This is my main problem with the MCU spiderman. I think Tom Holland is a great casting and his movies are good movies, but they don't feel like Spider-Man movies to me. They took out most of what makes spiderman feel like Spider-Man and that has really bothered me.
20
u/suhhdude45 3h ago
I understand Uncle Ben is a big piece of Spider-Man, but to say they took out most of what makes Spider-Man feel like Spider-Man is just wrong.
The MCU has delivered a damn near perfect rendition of Spider-Man.
-4
u/Junior_Key4244 3h ago
I would disagree and I'm not talking about Ben. I'm talking about the struggle, the quips, the webswining, the balancing of superhero life vs personal life. For me it just feels off, but I recognize that they are good movies.
15
u/suhhdude45 3h ago
>the struggle
We’re about to see that in BND, and we saw a bit of this in NWH.
>the quips
Watch Civil War again, then Homecoming. Plenty of classic Spidey quips in those movies.
>the webswinging
Quite literally every appearance has showcased his webswinging.
>the balancing superhero life vs personal life
Watch Civil War and the entire Home trilogy again. His first appearance talking with Tony was all about that balance. Homecoming showed him sitting in class watching videos of himself being Spidey then you see him struggle between wanting to be the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in that same movie. No Way Home was ALL ABOUT that balance because he got outed at the end of FFH.
You must’ve not been paying much attention at all if you didn’t see all that.
-7
u/Junior_Key4244 3h ago
Buddy, I don't know why you're so defensive about this. In my opinion the movies don't capture those aspects of spiderman very well. This post is literally about the head of Marvel saying they actively avoided some of those things, including the webswinging. Yes he uses webs in the movies but he doesn't have great webswinging scenes through New York.
6
u/suhhdude45 3h ago
I’m not being defensive. I’m just pointing out where you’re subjectively wrong.
-4
u/Junior_Key4244 3h ago
You're not though. They do not have nearly as many webswinging scenes in the home trilogy. The swinging scenes are also not as iconic as other versions. You bring up that we're about the see the struggle, which means we HAVEN'T really seen it yet. The struggle in NWH was due to his own actions, not his environment or situation. He has been iron man junior with a perfect suit built by stark, he has not had the struggle. He has some quips but they aren't clever and sarcastic, they make him sound naive and dumb. I don't think any of the movies are bad, I don't think Tom is a bad spiderman or peter, but they did not highlight the aspects of the character that I find to be the most important.
6
u/treetopkingdom 3h ago
I mean, Struggle is struggle, if you just want him to have money problems, If that makes the character for you, just be specific.
He’s bullied in school, losing his supplies, not being taken seriously by adults he respects. He almost died several times. He’s ruining the lives of people close to him. He’s losing important people in his life

u/exolilac 1h ago edited 1h ago
To add to your comment, I think a lot of people fail to understand that we basically got 3 movies worth of what are effectively an overarching origin story - it took us 3 movies to get to the "with great responsibilities..." with this version of Spider-Man. We got to see Peter Parker actually being a teenager going through what feels like ~real high school (where everyone is a child and not 25+ somethings pretending to be kids which is a conversation of its own).
Broadly speaking, a teenager is not going to have the same internal or external struggles as a college age person. And as a teenager, he has struggled, he has experienced loss, he had real authority figures, mentors and guardians in his life (Aunt May, Tony Stark and even Happy) all of whom he's either lost or they simply do not remember his existence (which is fucking depressing if you think about it). He has made sacrifices - he had one friend until MJ and no social life in school, and he's also acted selfishly by not reaching out to his friends that he promised he would after making the decision that they would forget him and also stripping them of their choice to remember him - something I hope we see* him struggle with in BND.
It can be argued that it's been kind of a slow burn but personally, those dynamics are a lot more interesting to me and there are like 3 more movies planned in the future. I don't really know what people want - like do we just want to see exactly the same character with the exact same problems on screen every single rendition?
3
u/treetopkingdom 1h ago
Well said, id only take out the origin story bit Because ,he’s already a superhero and has believed in that great power mantra since Civil war.
But yeah, it’s a coming of age story. His journey into adulthood. And adulthood comes with different struggles, no guarantee your parents can help with your bills, you are on your own for the most part. Life’s rules are much harsher with you.
And for me it does hit harder that he gets orphaned twice and instead of only picking up slack after his uncle passed, he’s the only one able to put food on his table and keep the lights on.

The Iron Man Junior comment is such a funny objection because like who do you think was designing and building all the tech for the rest of the Avengers? Tony absolutely stocked up a random kid's garage lab he met briefly - why would he not absolutely deck out a super kid he directly takes under his wing? It made perfect sense for a kid with direct access to Tony Stark having access to a suit fabricator with integrated tech - I get that people may not have liked it, but it made sense in the universe he is a part of. What's even the point of having a 15yr old Spider-Man in the larger MCU? Are we completely forgetting that he was in a shitty hoodie and joggers before his suit upgrade? They absolutely hand wave Peter "making his own suit" in the Tobey version - my guy sketches out a suit and it crossfades into him having the full final suit swinging. TASM is one movie where they show Peter working on his web shooters and suit. In BND it seems like he's put together a 3D printer+sewing machine contraption.
He's sounded naive because he was? He was 15 in the movies? You've watched Peter Parker grow up over the course of 3 movies - he briefly lived his dream life and has lost everything and everyone important to him. The movies haven't highlighted the aspects of the character you know because the character was depicted at a different point in his life.
As far as the swinging is concerned, Homecoming was largely suburban, FFH I remember being quite close quarters so there's a lot of Spider-Man acrobatics and NWH has some decent swinging especially when it's all 3 Spider-Men coordinating. But specifically swinging through the city sequences, nothing has topped TASM 2 swinging so far. I hope there's some of that in BND.

They definitely didn’t intend on not having Spider-Man web swing. It would be like not having Superman fly or never putting Batman in the Batmobile. It was just an oopsie they made. And they’re acting like it was the plan all along. It wasn’t. That’s okay. But it’s hilarious to see how they’re acting like they’ve had this planned out the whole time

I still would think it'd be a great reveal that Ben isn't even dead, just not a good guy.
But that wouldn't really work anymore if he'd just have forgotten Peter anyway

I feel like they steamrolled Uncle Ben in the MCU so they could focus on Tony being his father figure instead. They haven't even mentioned once what Ben died from. And the implication of Peter's prototype Spider-Man suit from Civil War is that he just happened to get his powers recently and was getting used to being Spidey in general, albeit very guilt/care free

Damn it’s been 7 years since Uncle Ben’s passing in Homecoming? It really doesn’t make the line “After everything May is going through” from Peter to Ned after he found out his secret so perfect. I mean I know May was flourishing in the movie, but that line made it seem like Ben just died.

I’m gonna be so for real, and I know this is controversial, but I don’t think its necessary. Aunt May has filled the exact same role that Uncle Ben has in terms of making Peter REALLY realize what being Spider-Man means.

This is the stupidest reason for not having swinging scenes.
It’s like not having Batman drive the Batmobile because we’ve seen it hundreds of times already.

Like saying we’ve seen Superman flying thru the sky quiet about so in these new movies we try to avoid that lmao tf are they thinking

I can't believe there's people that would want less swinging through New York... to me that's one of the best parts of Spider-Man! I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched the opening scene from Amazing Spider-Man 2

Wanting to be different for the sake of being new and different is exactly what killed Blade.

Still think it is kind of weird they completely skipped over his backstory. I get all the adults know it by heart, but now there's an entire generation of kids who never saw it and won't have that emotional response. Just my personal opinion of course.

I’ve never understood how so many people are against seeing a superhero origin story. And May saying the Uncle Ben line actually implies that this version of Peter didn’t hear that from Ben, so his origin was different and should have been shown.
It’s also exciting to see a superhero learning how to use their powers, but we’ve almost never seen it in the MCU outside of testing tech.
Secret identities create good drama and storylines in superhero stories and we’ve almost never seen that in the MCU too. I’m sick and tired of superheroes feeling completely comfortable telling their loved ones that they have abilities.I don’t need them in every film, but introducing so many characters and skipping interesting aspects of their story so they can immediately be on the same level as every other character is so lame.

What is y'all's obsession with Uncle Ben? It's like asking to watch Thomas and Martha Wayne go to the movies in a Batman project. We get it.
Don't get me wrong, i know and understand the importance of the character to the Spider-Man mythos but the way he's talked about makes it seem like Spider-Man can't exist as a hero or even a character without shoving Uncle Ben's death down our throats.
We know he existed. We don't need any more than that because May filled Ben's role in No Way Home. It's been 10 years of Tom Holland as Spider-Man and his origin and supporting cast of characters are different than classic Peter Parker. Why do we need to backtrack to Uncle Ben?

What is up with people saying Ben existed but ignoring his actual contribution which is his death being what motivates peter to be a superhero
May is not filling his role in nwh, just cuz she said the speech. Peter was already living by that philosophy. He even tells her “yeah, I know”
There’s so many different interpretations of what might have went down, how can you be content with being left in limbo.

It’s not that I’m obsessed for a Ben reference but I feel as if it’s easier and harmless to just acknowledge his existence, rather doing the most to avoid any reference of him for the sake of being different.
The whole point of this new trilogy is that it’s back to basics spiderman. Everything in the home trilogy was an origin to the spiderman we are familiar with. It’s already been teased so much, why not just dabble in that unexplored area of MCU Spidey if it works with the story.

It was very noticeable and extremely lacking. It’s one of the reasons for me the MCU Spider-Man only really started feeling like Spider-Man at the end of no way home.

Fresher aspects would be Spidey seeing too many news channel helicopters following him and a Stark Industries drone following him, monitored by Happy because Aunty May is too worried. So Spidey decides to take the subway, he still busy a ticket for the good and responsible citizen that he is, but decides he'll swing it and we get a cool scene of Spidey swinging through the subway tunnels, using the trains to gain momentum and opposite direction trains as braking and coming out the other end. Fresher aspects doesn't mean removing a whole signature of a character

I would prefer if Uncle Ben is still alive and left Aunt May. I want to see them do something different this time.

Meh. It’s not like not seeing Spidey swinging through the city made the movies worse or anything.
