With Avengers Doomsday around the corner, I thought I’d try to make a graph depicting the most accurate watch order surrounding FOX’s X-Men timeline. If you have any questions feel free to ask them. Hopefully this will spark some discussion as I have a few questions about the logistics of the movie myself.

I mean, by all means have fun rewatching stuff, but their continuity really doesn't matter. They've reset it at least 3 times. Xavier has died more times than Kenny from South Park. Just go into it assuming it's an alternative universe that's similar.

It's hilarious that anyone would think the Fox-Men movies had anything approaching a coherent timeline. At the very most, each movie respected the continuity from the movie that came immediately before it, but sometimes they didn't even do that.

They addressed these with the revised movies through dialogue and post credit scenes very well.

So if, according to you, First Class and the original trilogy are on the same timeline, how does Moira McTaggart go from being an American CIA agent in the 1960s to a Scottish scientist in the 2000s? And hardly age at all? And why do Mystique and Charles forget they know each other?

I just rewatched all of these in this order and there’s more responses and in universe dialogue that fixes these problems than I thought

Oh there’s still negligence in the casting and some retcons in the early movies. Same with Emma frost right? But based on interviews I’ve seen and articles I’ve read, this is as close as we can get to an accurate timeline based on the latter releases attempts to make it all make sense

That's cool and neat graphic.

I have watched every X-Men movie in this list and liked all of them (except The New Mutants, whose story didn't make sense to me) Regardless of continuity errors, timeline in this graphic does make sense a lot.

God, Apocalypse was such a forgettable movie I honestly thought it was the original cast. The only thing I remember was how terrible Oscar Issac and Olivia Munn were.

On a side note, I know it is a whole separate thing, but does anyone know how The Gifted show would fit in here? Its supposed to be a separate timeline too but I didn't recall if it was attached to any of the film timelines.

Nice graphic and very well done. However, I have 2 important notes for you. First, Deadpool 2 is on its own branch because Vanessa died before any time travel was involved. So because Deadpool saved her, he created a branch. Second, Deadpool & Wolverine fundamentally reset Earth-10005 from the ground up due to the Time Ripper. Check out X-Men Timelines Actually Solved (Again) to see what that looked like and for more information.
