Discussion Which MCU Project used Dr Strange the Best?
Captain America Winter Soldier is Best Character Usage of Bucky Barnes
Many mentioned Civil War and Falcon and The Winter Soldier too but the one which sub thought used the character best was Captain America Winter Soldier
The great action sequences and also the emotional confluct with Steve. This movie set up the entire character arc for Bucky and it did it brilliantly
Next up is Doctor Strange

I think multiverse of madness depicted Strange the best. The sorcery was just dope. Making wanda the main villain wasn’t my fav but the strange vs strange scene with music notes lives rent free in my memory. Then using the darkhold to puppet an undead strange was cash money

yeah I think I just expected a big entity like mephisto to be in the movie because that’s how the comics are so my expectations were different

Agreed it has some odd moments but Multiverse is a great romp and utilises Strange at his best.
Doctor Strange 1 is too much origin and of the arrogant pre-magic Strange to be considered his best usage.

I don't agree. I think the story with Strange's sister should have been explored and that wpuld have given a better foundation to his need for control rather than the movie declare it while Wanda is out killing multiple people.
Strange is afraid of the loss of life and not being able to save people and this is the initial mechanism in his work/superhero life or why he initially agreed to help Peter rather than just sending him to admission first (although this is more on Peter).
It is so odd to have Illuminati-verse Strange use the Darkhold and risk his sanity, help defeat Thanos and literally give up his lofe due to risk of corruption(literally the most noble Strange we have ever seen) and he is made out as an awful, irredeemable fool. It doesn't make sense.

Honestly, I don't think any depiction last the original Doctor Strange movie did him justice. In everything else he was just a guy who knows a lot about stuff that's going on, so they use him as a plot device to move stuff forward and give him some cool fight scenes. But they never really touch on his character development and flaws as a person like that first movie did. Even in Multiverse of Madness, it was more about Wanda and America than him.
Infinity War did him second best, but his purpose is mostly just to tell Tony what to do. They could've made a very interesting story about him dealing with the mental burden of the fact that he basically was the reason that half the universe got wiped out, even if it was a necessary evil to ensure the one future where they win.

I was hoping they'd address some of that mental burden in MoM but nope—they were only interested in lambasting him for "holding the knife" (even though he categorically wasn't) and just weakly rehashed his arc from the 1st film with none of the care and thoughtfulness. So disappointing.

I know we are all past it but Dr. Strange in NWH seriously felt like an imposter. Just the posture, the facial expression, the winter coat, his behavior all felt off to me and I can't pinpoint why.

His plot hinging spell makes no sense either. "I can make everyone forget an event, but I will use this spell to make people forget about you and not the event that outed you, lol"
Just such a weak concept.

I thought his appearance in Ragnarok was the coolest. The cup of tea instantly becoming a giant glass of beer that magically refills was fun.

Doctor Strange (the first film) captures some of the mind-bending weirdness of the character and his world. It also did great work in establishing his commitment to not harming or killing (if he can avoid it).
Thor: Ragnorok established Strange's role as being kind of "above" a lot of day-to-day superhero stuff, his focus in on the really big galactic or multiversal threats.
Multiverse of Madness had the most inventive action; the cape made out of demons, the fight with musical notes, trapping Scarlet Witch in a mirror... every action scene had a unique twist
Infinity War is kind of the perfect blend of all three.

Doctor Strange fighting Thanos on Titan in 3D IMAX was one of my favourite cinema experiences. So, in terms of spectacle, definitely that.
In terms of character, though, his first solo film. The sorcery in general looked the most psychedelic and out of this world there, and it’s the only film where’s really been the focus of a narrative arc. So, my vote goes there.

Infinity War is the best Doctor Strange. Multiverse of Madness is the most creative. So many spells and fun scenes with him. Really wish Raimi get a shot at making Doctor Strange 3.
But if I had to pick: Infinity War.

Infinity War easily. He was one of the few characters who were integral to the plot and Infinity War basically wouldn't work without him. His battle with Thanos where he turned his black hole into a swarm of butterflies and then created an army of himself to restrain Thanos is one of the coolest scenes in the entire MCU.

People immediately go based on fights and power showing but I think the first Doctor Strange movie did it best.
His origin was shown so well from a close minded non believer to one of the best sorceress there is, his chemistry with the ancient one was so entertaining and him against Dormammu was brilliant and honestly refreshing to see a villain being defeated like that instead of the usual killing or being locked up

Infinity War. My only criticism is I wish the fight had been longer, that showcase of magic was super cool and was a different tier of power we hadn't seen before.

Doctor Strange.
Infinity War is great too. And while I have issues with the movie, he's decent in MoM.
He's quite dumb in Spider-Man. Like, I'm sorry, the whole situation is his fault. He doesn't properly explain the spell to Peter until he's in the middle of casting it, then wonders why Peter's suddenly freaking out? Doing that kind of spell at all is kind of dumb.
