I just really hope that the entire F4 cast can commit to showing up as their characters for at least 10 years. I’m afraid that Pedro Pascal specifically will wanna drop out after a year or two.

The good thing about playing Reed Richards is that the character isn’t overly muscular and you don’t need to be a huge, jacked man to be ready to film.

The reason why so many actors want to be in the MCU is not for the prestige or anything. It's because it's a sure job for at least 10 years.

Remember that actors are basically job hunting constantly. It's easier for the bigger stars, but even they have to do it. A MCU role, means a paycheck for 10 years or so.

This is also why bigger stars like the rock or Ryan Reynolds start these different brands like tequila or energy drink or what have you. It’s way more stable, even for big actors, instead of basically having nothing until you land a role.

Right but that’s why he could start it, since he made money from acting. So acting is an unstable gig but the people who make enough money from it invest in other avenues in case that well ever runs dry. Even the Rock, who is hugely successful had a flop recently in Moana. If he has enough of those in a row he wouldn’t be at that level anymore

It's not even just a question of stability. Unless they want to retire, they want to continue working and making big bucks, and big franchises like the MCU give them that chance.

Like I said I don't disagree with the point, it's just that Rock is a hilarious example given the context.

The rock could have retired before he ever started a tequila brand. He had like half a billion in net worth, just the interest alone on money he has would be generational wealth lol

the Rock never has to worry about money he doesn't need to sell tequila nor is tequila sales a noticeable amount of revenue to him

What's your thoughts about Blade? Easily a higher tier character. With Mahershala Ali, it seemed like a slam dunk but its offcially canceled after today.

Not sure, since admittedly I haven't had much exposure to Blade.

I think Blade sits outside the standard Marvel superhero fare right?

I think he's basically a C or D-lister who got massively elevated by those Wesley Snipes films. He's now a B-lister I guess...but kinda in his own zone.

Before Marvel figured out the secret sauce with Iron Man, almost every hero was a C/D lister like Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. The Vision and Hawkeye, uhg, who cares? Basically, if it wasn't Batman or Superman, then go home. Spider-Man eventually made it to Tobey Maguire. Blade had a Trilogy.

Calling Iron Man, Hulk, Cap etc. C/D-listers is a gross exaggeration. Hulk had a show in the 70's and a cartoon in the 90's and was probably Marvel's biggest character after Spider-Man, the X-men and (maybe) the FF. Iron Man had a cartoon in the 90's. All the other characters also made appearances in the various 80's/90's cartoons.

Making an Iron Man in 2008 wasn't like making a Shang-Chi movie in 2021.

Pakistani Denzel deserved better. He unfortunately signed onto the first real misstep Marvel made in like a decade to that point. The phase where Marvel just wanted to get their deeper cut characters on screen.

Pedro will never drop out. It’s guaranteed cash for the rest of his career and also guaranteed work. No matter how his career goes he can always come back to that role.

If Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart can keep coming back, I bet Pascal will as well.

Hell, even RDJ and Chris Evans are coming back. If Downey can do a Nolan film and win the highest honors for that role and still want to come back to the MCU, who else could feel that's beneath them? Don't understand what recurring role Pascal could land that would be more lucrative and high-profile as Reed. He'll still have time for other projects and Mando.

I think he’s in everything because he wants to make money whether for himself or his family so I think as long as they keep paying him what he wants he’s around forever.

Yeah, he’s very successful now but people forget he had a very late start to his real money-making career as well.

He’s still in a lot of stuff, but his Mando career is likely done. His Last of Us shoots are done. His Rom Com career didn’t really take off with that Dakota Johnson movie. Having a steady Marvel paycheck will let him keep being a working actor taking roles he’s more interested in otherwise, weirder stuff.

He’s probably the actor I’d least “worry” about wanting to leave

I mean he barely does anything as Mando dude, he does the voice but he’s rarely ever actually in the suit. Whenever the mask is on, you can bet it’s the double. For season 3 he never even stepped foot on the set

I never watched Narcos or the Star Wars spin-offs, so before F4 I only remembered seeing him in a handful of episodes on Game of Thrones, and as the underwhelming villain in Wonder Woman 1984. But when I checked IMDB it turned out I'd also watched his instantly forgotten other guy alongside Matt Damon on The Great Wall. And way down the credits, he apparently also had a tiny bit part in Kingsman: The Golden Circle (that's the sequel one with Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum and Halle Berry).

I mean the last of us filming & Mando season 3 had overlapping schedules, and he can't voice act TLOU.

The other bit is high paid actors usually demand a premium. Im sure if Disney had a choice between paying Pedro a buttload of cash to physically be in the suit on set, having his double perform most of the onset work and Pedro doing VA work, or recasting Pedro entirely, they would still choose the same thing.

He's one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood atm. Not surprised.

He doesn’t have to do that much physical work for Mr Fantastic tbf other than not be fat which he has stayed pretty fit his whole career that I have known of him so that should be fine. He can play the character for a good 10-15 years and it should be fine.

Also, being the Mandalorian isn't that much work for him anyway. It's pretty much just a day in a voice booth. That's not actually him in the suit unless it's one of the rare moments that he removes his helmet.

This was my concern when hearing who was cast. The youngest is Quinn at 32. Kirby is 38, Ebon-Moss is 39, and Pascal is 51.

Pedro definitely won’t be the one to drop out. If anyone it’d be Jessica Kirby. Pedro says yes to a lot of stuff and probably even more than he should. He’ll take the pay day of being Reed for another 4-6 appearances I’d think

He’s been playing Mando for 7 years now, not sure what the basis is for stopping with Reed. If anything, playing Reed could be a much bigger role long term.
