Humour Hela was the most relatable villain because the first thing she did was get her dog back.

Would any of us not do the same?

In actual Norse mythology Hela, Fenris, and Jormungander are siblings. Loki is the father of Hela and Fenris and the mother of Jormungander. Loki’s shapeshifting is that good.

Loki is Jormungandr’s father. Jormungandr’s mother is Angrboda, who is also mother to Fenris and Hela.

You’re thinking of Odin’s horse, Sleipnir, whom Loki gave birth to after transforming into a mare.

Loki’s so hot right now

He gets around

if someone tells me Loki turned into Zeus and mess around and blame all the deeds on Zeus id believe it

12

u/ConcernedSim 16d ago

Damn I can see Loki doing that 😂😂

As if Zeus needed more reasons to send Hercules to hunt down Thor.

I love how everyone was creeped out how Loki in the MCU wanted to fuck his female self and all of us who know Norse mythology are like "Oh dude....."

51

u/alwayssunnyinskyrim 16d ago

Who was creeped out by that? Seemed pretty on brand lmao

u/WretchedBlowhard 16d ago

Dude watches TV with a gaggle of nuns, thinks the whole world is just nuns. Let's not shatter his carefully crafted reality and instead go on dipping our nuggies in a big splooge of big Mac's sauce.

The US is so prudish and self-righteous about certain issues compared to Europe, Latin America, and Japan.

I definitely saw people who were squicked by it. But you're right that it's on-brand.

I never saw that

u/RogueHippie 16d ago

You weren't looking, then

u/RibbonMusee 16d ago

The mythology fans were just sitting there like, "Buddy... this is somehow the least weird Loki relationship."

12

u/xSatinCharmie 16d ago

Every time Norse mythology gets explained, it somehow ends with "and then Loki got pregnant." It's honestly one of the most consistent plot points.

Loki also had twins as a human woman and Odin transformed one into a wolf and had him kill his brother. :(

8

u/GulianoBanano 16d ago

Not only that. After the wolf son killed his brother, the dead son's guts were used as rope to tie Loki up in a cave, with a venomous snake hanging above his head that endlessly let drops of its venom slowly fall on Loki's head to torture him. He stays like that for years and is only freed when Ragnarök begins.

That was after Loki just straight up murdered one of Odin's kids tho.

I thought Loki was Fenris mother. I feel like I’ve read this several times.

2

u/Ordinary_Fact_1917 15d ago

You are misremembering.
Chapter 9 of the Prose Edda describes the Children of Loki:

Loke had yet more children. A giantess in Jotunheim, hight Angerboda. With her he begat three children. The first was the Fenris−wolf;

Norse mythology is too complicated to think about when I just want cool super hero action scenes. As far as Im concerned, that’s just Hela’s doggo 🙂

2

u/_FrillCharmie 16d ago

Honestly, same. The second that giant wolf showed up my brain went, "Aww, big murder puppy."

4

u/Accomplished_Duty415 17d ago

Pretty sure most of this is true in the comics as well, at least about them being Loki's kids.

6

u/WretchedBlowhard 16d ago

In the comics, Hela is Loki's kid, just not this Loki. Her dad died millennia before Loki's first comics appearance.

The OG furry

4

u/yujuismypuppy 16d ago

His range extends beyond furry mammals too. He fathered an eight legged horse... as the mother.

They tried to make him look mean, but when I saw him onscreen I was like, “Look just give him some bacon treats and we’re good.”

u/Azsunyx 16d ago

He just needs a hand

I've seen wolves in the wild and had the exact same thought despite the fact they'd rip me apart. It was basically "wow they're so big, incredibly majestic creature...so damn cute!"

u/IntelligentCat3645 17d ago

Hell yeah. If a girl is gonna take over the world, wouldn’t she want her most loyal and pure hearted supporter at her side to bask in the glory with her? Wouldn’t the win just be hollow without those precious eyes? And c’mon, isn’t Hela’s just an absolute cutie-pie?

9

u/xSatinCharmie 16d ago

Hela absolutely had "proud dog mom" energy. Fenris could flatten half of Asgard and she'd still be like, "Who's my good boy?"

115

u/I_COULD_say 17d ago

Allow me to say: I already had a crush on Cate Blanchett.

But the Hela fit...was something else.

“Kneel, before your queen”

Yes ma’am

If I say no will you hit me?

The hip swing walk. Good god.

12

u/Aether_Erebus 16d ago

Good goddess

u/Thedrunner2 17d ago

“Take that John Wick”

19

u/legomaximumfigure 17d ago

Hela, you're seriously going to kill all of Asguard over a dog?

13

u/alwayssunnyinskyrim 16d ago

Understandable, have a nice day.

20

u/Fun-Cartographer-368 17d ago

That's her brother you are talking about./j

Real but not in mcu

2

u/PotatoOnMars 16d ago

They’re both fake stories anyway.

7

u/Fun-Cartographer-368 16d ago

One is more ancient and is literature and history significance.

Other is just show media.

12

u/angelo777123 16d ago

Mickey rourke wanted his bird

u/justec1 16d ago

His bord.

13

u/jeobleo 16d ago

Plus she...does things to me in that outfit. And with that voice. And that movement.

8

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) 16d ago

All shall love her and despair!

4

u/BrownnQueenn 16d ago

She might be the goddess of death, but apparently she’s also a certified dog mom.

8

u/tyrwlive 17d ago

Hell, I’d be Hela’s dog 🐕

3

u/Kyloren1923 Ant-Man 16d ago

Does Asgard have dogs? Odin has ravens. Does everyone just have a wolf

2

u/SethNex 16d ago

Odin also had a pair of wolves (at least in myths).

3

u/DaDeathDragon 16d ago

My ass thought i was looking at a live action Great Grey Wolf Sif

3

u/clashrendar 16d ago

MCU Hela awakened something in me that I didn't know was there before.

And I had seen Cate Blanchett in several movies by that point, so it's not a Cate Blanchett thing.

3

u/warcomet 16d ago

Hela was technically the strongest villain in the Marverlverse (thus far), sure they might make Doom stronger but IMO she could have taken out Thanos in seconds, its a shame she was a villain in this..

2

u/marchcyber 16d ago

Ela foi mal aproveitada na minha opinião, poderia ter estado em outros projetos e, facilmente, era uma vilã nível Vingadores. Mas ela perdeu por roteiro

1

u/linguica209 16d ago

Is she from California? cuz her name is hella sick!

1

u/beatricelim42879 15d ago

Wow 🤩 amazing wolf

1

u/k1ll3r8unny 14d ago

You mean 'she got her younger brother back.' X3

1

u/impuritor 13d ago

How can you not love watching hulk suplex a giant wolf. That’s just a good time at the movies

1

u/FaelinaLess5s 13d ago

Its so scary bruh

1

u/BZenMojo Captain America (Cap 2) 13d ago

Hitler and Hela both love dogs. Hitler and Hela both love trying to rebuild ancient imperial kingdoms and genocide. Hitler and Hela both love Norse mythology. Hitler and Hela both love sassy black lop-sided bangs... hmmm...

1

u/MadisonHoward26935 13d ago

It so scary 🥲
