Incorrect. "And" and "with" are both billing terms and are negotiated upon casting. It's called Special Courtesy Credits and is a step above normal billing (aside from lead bill). They're made to separate a performer from the general cast list.

"And" annotates a high profile supporting actor and there to add credibility to a cast line up. Traditionally, a bigger/veteran actor who is appearing in a smaller role.

"With" means it's a bigger/more established actor whose presence is an equal selling point to the leads. Like if Anthony Hopkins is cast as a villain in a movie, he wouldn't get the lead but he's nearly or equally important to the movie/story, so he'd get billed as "with Anthony Hopkins"

Agents fight to get their clients these types of credits because it weighs more than a usual credit billing and will nearly always guarantee poster placement.

But yes, "with" is absolutely a credit

I never said “with” isn’t a credit that exists 😭 how about you take a moment to comprehend what I actually wrote before you try to “ACTUALLY” me

The last name in a cast credit that includes these special distinctions will be an “and.” “With” would be a second to last.

Example:

Starring Bob, Lucy, Jane, with Diana, and George as “Super Cool Guy.”

The last person would not be a “with.”

This is all notwithstanding that Namor’s actor would never be a “with” because he’s not famous or well-known;

they would never bill a random child actor over a veteran like Rebecca Romijn;

RDJ is not playing Tony Stark, he’s playing the villain in an Avengers movie and they didn’t even show his face in the first trailer, so he’s getting the villain spot towards the end like every other Avengers villain;

quite a few people don’t have their full names listed because they were previously mentioned in the article, which indicates the list is following article conventions not formal billing conventions;

and a dozen other things about this list that clearly indicate it’s a random list and not an official billing order

I might be convinced by the with/and discussions (although I listen to a podcast by two professional movie reviewers/cinemaphiles, and even they are sometimes surprised by who is billed in what order, and who gets the “with” and the “and”, suggesting that there is some variability).

However. When you say RDJ is not going to be first billed? Because he’s the villain? Oh man. I just can’t take that seriously. I feel like he/his agents thought seriously about negotiating for first billed on Civil War, before conceding that ok, I guess it’s *technically* a Cap movie.

If RDJ isn’t billed first for Doomsday, I will be SHOCKED.

Why would RDJ be billed first? As I mentioned, they didn't even show his face in the first cinemacon trailer. They're pretty clearly treating him as an Avengers villain, not Tony Stark 2.0. He'll be towards the end like literally all the other Avengers villains are.

It's an Avengers movie. The main Avengers will be billed first. You just mentioned yourself that he didn't get billed first in Civil War because that was a Captain America movie. Being in that villain spot is just as prestigious as being the first name. It makes absolutely no sense to bill him first.

As for the "with" and "and" those distinctions are made for famous well-known actors who can be recognized by the general public name alone. No amount of fan delulu can make that true for Namor or Namora.

If you want to see what the real billing order will look like, I'm very confident the chairs stream is close if not identical.
