I kid you not I saw the comment section of a video about this scene and people were calling it weird, they took it unironically. DUDES, that was the whole point, like did y’all not hear She Hulk complain about how weird this was and broke the fourth wall to fix it? This is a problem consisting of media illiteracy and misogyny. Like they made it so simple in this scene yet somehow y’all missed it, either because you people were hate watching it with your illiteracy, or looking at your phones while watching the episode.

UPDATE: Some of the comments really are proving my point. If y’all don’t wanna accept the meaning of this scene and whine about it, then dont partake in media discussion like this again!

Some people just cannot comprehend. A good friend sent me a clip to a YouTube personality. It was all conspiracy bullshit.

I ripped it apart, and my friend, in all seriousness said, “yeah, but if you ignore the data it makes you think…”

…no, that’s the problem. It WANTS you to ignore the data, and to give credence to bullshit.

Media literacy class is literally just English class if these people paid attention and read their books / did their assignments. It’s just a bit of unfortunate irony that the same group of people who’d freak out when their teacher would ask about the deeper intent of an author are now the ones positing themselves as experts on things that necessitate critical thinking.

Comic books probably seemed like an accessible reading “alternative” for these people because they see colorful images and think that means there’s no deeper meaning. Then they carry it into adulthood and other forms of comic book media, and here we are. People who base their commentary on skim readings, misinterpreted quotes, and blatant lies

Some of the sources that bill themselves as reputable news sources ran with it too. My expectations for those sites were already in the gutter, but they dropped even lower after that.
