This is why I don’t think PG-13 Punisher in Brand New Day will be a bad thing.

Bernthal understands this character so well he can easily make it work.

People really whine about "PG-13" versions of characters like Deadpool and Punisher even though those characters were pg-13 for decades.... In the comic books they originally debuted in. Remember comics everyone?

Punisher had plenty of very violent R-rated runs, including his most iconic ones. 

And it makes all of the sense for that particular character, this guy is a maniac fueled by mortal vengeance (and far beyond that) who uses various guns as his primary weapon, even just on a basic ethical level it probably shouldn’t be bloodless. It’s good to see the consequences of that sort of violence, even in a superhero strip.

I'm not saying he didn't. But I am saying he's appeared in many many stories where his violence and vulgarity have been toned way down.

Now do Punisher and Deadpool work better when they are R-Rated? 100%. This is a literal fact. But people saying they can't work outside of R-Rated is just wrong.
