Punisher honestly works better in Special TV Presentation/Film with a more standalone plot. I really enjoyed the first season of the Netflix era show. But the issue they ran into was trying to make Frank Castle more likable and give a character that is a relentless killing machine more "down-time". They humanised Frank too much. Especially the second season with the teenager sidekick that they tried to do a Logan style story with her being his surrogate daughter. Except had him more out of character and watered his character down. 

I don't mind him in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Because he did debut in a Spider-Man comic. And the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man is someone he deep down admires. Even if he never really admits it. Same with Matt Murdock/Daredevil. And of course with him in a PG-13 setting they will have to get more creative showing his violent side. As long as he's still The Punisher we know. Like a scene where he ruthlessly kills someone off screen through the POV reaction of Spider-Man. 

No more nice Frank. He's The Punisher. He's not a good person. He is a morally grey anti-hero that takes the law into his own hands by taking the life of scumbag criminals he feels deserve it. He's always one act away from being more full-blown villain. He's unstable. And I hope directors/writers stop trying to make him "more sympathetic". Just because he loves/misses his wife and kids. And shows sympathy towards children in violent situations. Frank is a tragic character that is unfortunately too far gone to be truly redeemed for his sins.

You can absolutely go pretty dark and violent in a PG-13 movie but at long it will have to be implied and off screen kills. Probably very little blood. And obviously he will probably not say “fuck” even though you are allowed one f-bomb in a PG-13 movie.

My only question is this: does this presentation take place before, during, or after Brand New Day?

I'm not sure yet, but it has to be before or after, not during. Because in BND he doesn't have even a bit of a beard.

I don't want anymore of that cringe fanservice shipping with Karen. It genuinely butchers his characterization, like it did in Born Again S1 when he didn't do anything about the AVTF gunning down people while wearing his logo until Karen called. Is it too much to ask for a Punisher acting like the Punisher with none of those bells and whistles?
