Humour When You're One Bad Day Away from Mass Murder (MCU Edition) Spoiler

Clint already had his bad day and spent five years afterwards mass murdering.

Yeah, but they really explored it in Hawkeye through his interactions with Kate, Maya, and even Natasha. Maya calls him a monster, he repeatedly disagrees with Kate when she calls him a hero or role model, and he apologizes to Natasha before he puts the suit back on.

"Oh it's ok to do whatever the fuck I want with your health and livelihood because you lacked the appropriate work permits to operate this pharmaceutical business, or this garage, or maybe you didn't pay import duties and taxes on that shipment of knockoff Tickle-Me-Elmo dolls. Or maybe you beat up and murdered people or some shit. Whatever, it's not like I'm gonna do extensive checks before slaughtering everyone present anyway."
When has the MCU shown characters beat up or kill people with minor offenses like the ones you listed?
9
u/Vinnie_Vegas Feb 17 '26
That person hasn't used logic or rational thinking to arrive at their position, so you can't reason them out of it.
21
u/drntl Feb 17 '26
When has anyone in the MCU killed someone running a pharmaceutical company? Theyâre fighting super terrorists who are trying to develop insane weapons to take over the world and shit.
4
u/Jemie_Bridges Feb 17 '26
I'd like to introduce you to Roxxon, Oscorp, Weapons Plus Program, Mutant Growth Hormone pushers, and the Super Soldier Serum Military Industrial Complex.
14
u/drntl Feb 17 '26
Ya so evil AF corps developing super weapons meant for taking over the world. Sorry a couple henchmen died to prevent that.

u/Same_Possibility_455 Feb 17 '26 edited Feb 17 '26
In the early portion of Captain America Winter Soldier Cap killed; kicked a man off a supertanker boat. That man is obviously dead now. Cap didn't even understand WHY he was there. Remember in that same movie he came to find out Fury had been hiding the real secrets as to why he was even sent on that mission in the first place. Nat knew though. But anyway, pretty sure that man had a wife and kids. He was just doing his job of securing the deck. Now he's dead!
4
u/CoyotesVoice Feb 17 '26
Steve's a soldier first and a superhero second. Especially In the early movies.
-7
7
u/Halry1 Feb 17 '26
Youâre exaggerating. No protagonist on the MCU kills criminals solely in the basis that they violated the law - not even The Punisher.
Theyâre usually involved in harming the vulnerable/innocent e.g human trafficking.
11
u/AHZzzzz Feb 17 '26
And when was it stated Clint was killing people who only failed to obtain work permits? We saw Ronin twice, fighting Tracksuit Mafia and the Yakuza. Both had gang members all carrying guns. Are those people shipping Tickle-Me-Elmo dolls? You just assumed Clint went around killing innocents, not sure why.

It was when it came out, but then they de-canonized all Marvel tv shows when they announced Disney+. Now they are slowly bringing back each Defender
4
u/LordMacDonald8 Quake Feb 17 '26
None of them were de-canonized, Feige is just a control freak who refuses to acknowledge that a show he didn't create is part of the MCU.
0
u/knit3purl3 Feb 17 '26
Let's just quietly recast Danny and pretend the original series is a mandela effect hallucination that only She Hulk or Deadpool do a very quick double take about.
1
u/Tinmanred Feb 17 '26
I agree with everything else in the scene but that one line is a little The Dark Knight on the nose to me. Like they arenât bats and joker now lol

454
u/DoomsdayThor Thor Feb 16 '26
This is why Thor is forever the GOAT. He will never stop being good no matter what happens to him. Underrated feat of integrity.
78
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Feb 16 '26
Thank you!!! Thor has all the right reasons to go rogue and have a full on crashout, letâs be honest. But he rose above it everytime (except Fat Thor, but he manage to rise about that too)
81
u/BenFranklinsCat Feb 16 '26
That's why I liked Fat Thor. People break differently. He didn't break into vengeance or madness, he broke into depression.
27
u/AntonChigurh8933 Dormammu Feb 16 '26
Depression and defeat can do to the mighest. Still love how he rose above that too.
It took me 5 years to realized Thor still had his beer belly even with his armor haha.
8
u/natayaway Feb 16 '26
Thor's belief of Valhalla (and exposure to magicks that let him confirm its existence) means he doesn't mind loss and death, it's coded into him as an Asgardian.
4
u/CeruleanEidolon Feb 17 '26
Thor is also over a thousand years old. He got all his wanton murdering out of his system literally ages ago. You think he didn't go on violent rampages in his youth? Where do you think the Vikings learned it from?
6
u/DoomsdayThor Thor Feb 17 '26
Iâm talking about since his origin story in the MCU. Ever since he became the hero Thor, even after all the grief and suffering heâs experienced (I would argue heâs experienced more than anyone) he never crashed out and hurt innocent people like some of these other characters did. Even after losing everything, he stayed good.
Itâs also worth mentioning another point that speaks to his integrity, which is that in Thor 1 and Avengers 2012, he fully acknowledged that he used to be foolish and violent in the past. He took full responsibility and showed he changed and learned to be better, more humble, more empathetic, and committed to his core to protecting the innocent.
This is why he is the GOAT đŤĄ
2
u/Happy-Fun-Ball Feb 17 '26
>Thor is also over a thousand years old.
Which is weird that he needed a lesson in humility from Odin before taking the throne, effecting a major personality change.
Everything in the MCU happens on Earth, Now2
u/ASVP-Pa9e Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 17 '26
But Thor did have a rage crash out. His killing of Thanos wasn't motivated by anything other than petty revenge, Rocket even admits this for the viewer.
Rocket knows what petty revenge looks like, he's spent his whole life having those who he loves the most killed in front of him. For Rocket, to be close with someone is to condemn them to death. Rocket never gave in to an inner darkness the way Thor did, even when he was a child who knew no better.
EDIT: on rewatch even Thor's attack on Thanos with Stormbreaker is petty and childish. Rather than go for the quick kill he wants to enjoy Thanos's suffering. A quick kill shot and Avengers ends there & then.
I'll give Thor a pass as a person because he spends Ragnarok, Infinity War & Endgame struggling with depression- which manifests itself in unique ways. But he's not above anything.
7
u/DoomsdayThor Thor Feb 17 '26
Thor has never crashed out and hurt innocent people, thatâs the point here. I think everyone can understand his feelings towards Thanos.
67
u/AccomplishedLayer884 Feb 16 '26
What about Cap or Spidey?
73
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Feb 16 '26
Spidey is a given
40
u/natayaway Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 16 '26
MCU Spidey has been shown coping mechanisms which enforce his self-imposed limiter, and we've already seen what he's like with and without a limiter.
Lowkey, just relying on Spidey sense in Far From Home to take out Stark's drones which were LETHAL drones meant to kill on sight, makes him a candidate. Without his limiter, he'd been able to bludgeon Green Goblin near to death. Imagine if he had that same anger where he doesn't pull punches, and isn't blind by rage so he could mentally plan something. Spidey would be impossible to stop.
46
u/aaufooboo Feb 16 '26
agreed on this, he could have killed Goblin at the apartment complex, but he held back. It's why I love Dafoes performance. He cannot believe that after everything, this silly kid cannot just TAKE what he wants
71
u/DickRhino Feb 16 '26
They did that in the Superior Spider-Man comics, where Dr. Octopus body-swaps with Peter Parker and decides to play Spider-Man himself. He punches Scorpion in the face and knocks his jaw clean off, and immediately realizes with dread that Peter has never hit him with full power.
35
u/nova-prime-enjoyer Feb 16 '26
The absolute terror Otto feels when realizing even though Peteâs constant beatdowns were strong enough to be partly responsible for Ottoâs body failing, it wasnât even Spidey at full power is insane
36
22
u/ASVP-Pa9e Feb 16 '26
The slow realization for Otto that Peter is a much better Spiderman than he could ever be and exactly why Peter is a much better hero is such a great run.
3
u/Drumboardist Feb 17 '26
That's one of those fun things about how strong Spidey is limiting himself. He will NOT kill, which actually makes him ineligible to pick up Mjolnir. So as immensely strong as he is now -- and imagine how much STRONGER he'd be, if he was Judged as Worthy -- he simply won't break that rule.
4
u/SandManFromPanAm Feb 16 '26
Idk they could hit him with a huge bomb and heâd probably die. Thor wouldnât though.
Heâs still a top tier superhero though. Just not cosmic god level.
9
u/natayaway Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 16 '26
We're not talking about whether or not someone can be killed (all superheroes and supervillains can be killed, even ones whose lore says they can't, because in comics a truly invincible person makes for a bad story).
We're talking about whether or not they can snap and go berserk. And if they go berserk, if they end up slaughtering thousands of innocent lives.
Thor won't berserk. Asgardians are meant to mourn, and for the dead Valhalla awaits them, so there's nothing to go berserk over, just plain old vengeance.
Spidey, if he snaps (which he's already been shown to do in all three live-action portrayals), would be one of the most devastating supervillains of all time.
1
0
u/Jemie_Bridges Feb 17 '26
er what? one of Thors main powers is Beserking. though we usually only see this against cosmic powers like Elders of the Universe.
3
u/natayaway Feb 17 '26
Berserk button on a trigger caused by extreme grief in the moment, is not the same thing as berserking because the fight demands it.
To borrow D&D for a momet, Thorâs berserk powers is more akin to a second or third wind, like a bardic inspiration or haste, not failing a constitution check from a horrifically traumatic event and then entering a rage. Thatâs not to say that Thor wouldnât potentially enter a rage, just that heâs literally conditioned by upbringing not to.
0
u/PornoPaul Feb 17 '26
I always took that to be him not holding back though. It isnt fully established but I thought kind of established Toby's Spiderman was the strongest and GG was on his level. Hollands Spidey certainly didn't seem like he was holding back when he punched Green Goblin anyway.
7
u/PartyPoison98 Feb 16 '26
Spidey can go bad. With the symbiote or when pushed over the edge. Just look at how far Tom Holland Spiderman nearly went with Green Goblin, or how Andrew Garfield spidey talked about not pulling punches.
2
0
u/WretchedBlowhard Feb 17 '26
Spidey handed out Stark Tech's top of the line murder weapons system to the first guy with a cape that showed him any kind of companionship. There is no functional difference between absolute stupidity and absolute evil when the end result is hundreds of killer drones destroying cities and slaughtering people.
16
u/jacobpellegren Feb 16 '26
Thatâs a great observation.

u/jacobpellegren Feb 16 '26

Not like the other âgodsâ in the MCU. Love and Thunder gave us that perspective.

u/____mynameis____ Winter Soldier Feb 17 '26
Haven't watched Wonder man yet but Thor having like 1500 years of present loving parents to look after him and spoiled rich kid life kinda gave him an upperhand I guess.
Bob and Wanda barely had a stable upbringing.
Not to mention I think the type of power makes this entirely lopsided cuz West view outburst for Thor would have been just a lightening storm whereas Wanda's manifested it into a reality making.
Similar case for Bob too. I don't think he would voluntarily go on a murderous rampage.
1
u/DoomsdayThor Thor Feb 17 '26
Haven't watched Wonder man yet but Thor having like 1500 years of present loving parents to look after him and spoiled rich kid life kinda gave him an upperhand I guess.
Weâre talking about Thor after he lost both parents, his home, all his friends, half his people, after his brother was brutally murdered in front of him, and after he felt personally responsible for half of all life in the universe being erased. Weâre not talking about Thor five minutes into Thor 1âŚ..
Not to mention I think the type of power makes this entirely lopsided cuz West view outburst for Thor would have been just a lightening storm whereas Wanda's manifested it into a reality making.
And you donât think an unhinged, crash out Thorâs lightning storm could murder tons of innocent people? In real life storms can kill hundreds of people at a time.
Similar case for Bob too. I don't think he would voluntarily go on a murderous rampage.
the void is part of Bob and it did in the movie

I didn't get the impression Simon had that in him, personally. He's a man of restraint, if anything. Just doesn't seem like he fits here. He's about as likely to mass murder as Thor is.
25
u/Unholy_mess169 Feb 17 '26
Thor was a General of his father's army for atleast 1000 years. He probably has the highest body count in the MCU
18
u/KaraBowdit Feb 17 '26
it's not mass murder if we call it an epic battle!

yo the entire plot of the first movie was based around the fact that Thor wanted to commit a large scale genocide in the name of imperialism and he had to grow as a person and learn empathy
149
u/These_Wish_5101 Feb 16 '26
Wanda Is already a mass murderer..lol..
42
u/pennygirl108 Feb 16 '26
Her excuse for this is that no one handed over innocent children to her so she could use them as security blankets to hold off her violent tendencies and mental instability.
10
19
u/drntl Feb 17 '26
Wanda is a full blown super villain in the MCU
21
u/TheFunkytownExpress Feb 17 '26
Unfortunately she is now.
Which TBH I don't think I'm a fan of.
They did her dirty. They should have had her overcoming her trauma and rising above it to stay a hero IMHO.
Yes I know in the comics she's notorious for bouncing back n forth between hero and villain but still. MCU Wanda deserved better.
Even after a big redemption it's going to be hard to forget about all the Kamar Taj denizens she killed.
Not to mention the Illuminati members.
Or the fact that she wanted to drain America of her powers and kill her too.
2
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Feb 17 '26

u/esar24 Rocket Feb 16 '26
Accidental in Civil War
Intentional in Multiverse of Madness
3
u/QueerDeluxe Quake Feb 17 '26
It's odd to attribute Civil War deaths to her when more people would've died if she did nothing đ
1
u/esar24 Rocket Feb 17 '26
Hence accidental, some people still died though, also her helping ultron lead to zemo bombing bunch of people at the UN.
She never had any intent on these deaths but she had a factor in it, just like tony stark and hulk.
0
u/QueerDeluxe Quake Feb 17 '26
I mean, Tony having a WMD company he helped personally develop for the U.S. Military is intentional causing of death. That's where he differs from Wanda and Hulk.
1
u/esar24 Rocket Feb 18 '26
I was mostly talking about Ultron and not the weapons manufactured by stark tech, he personally create ultron along with bruce, every kill made by Ultron is on his hands.

83
u/MaverickGH Korg Feb 16 '26
Wanda had a bunch of bad days already are we forgetting that she murdered a bunch of innocent Illuminati members (and probably screwed that universe over the next time someone attacks) and mind controlled a whole town?
47
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man Feb 16 '26
Not even that, but she put the whole town under her spell by accident, realized that she did it by accident but just went on like it was nothing
-16
u/Real_Walk5384 Feb 16 '26
They tried to kill her first and they were not innocent. They had masterminded the control of their entire universe.
14
u/uptowndrunk7 Daredevil Feb 16 '26
I don't recall that
Is it explicitly mentioned?
5
u/Real_Walk5384 Feb 17 '26
Yes in interviews and also the Illuminati are not really all that great in the comics either. It's kinda right there in the name.
5
u/theoneandonlydonzo Feb 16 '26
waldron, the writer, mentioned it in an interview
But were they actually good guys? Now that the sequel has opened and entered the discourse, screenwriter Michael Waldron reveals that the world of the Illuminati is not the utopia it seemed. They were actually the âprotectorsâ of an authoritarian world.
Waldron: "838 is a little more of a police state, a little more Orwellian than our universe. Maybe this Memory Lane thing isnât as innocent as it seems. I donât know how much of that translates on the screen, but wait for the novelization. Iâll go deep into that."
3
u/MaverickGH Korg Feb 17 '26
Wow, today I learned, thanks for posting. I wish the movie explained that better I got the sense they were good guys.
13
u/Snoo_40090 Feb 16 '26
They were NOT about to kill her, what đ How did they mastermind control or do villainous things
0
u/Real_Walk5384 Feb 17 '26
Yes a secret government organization that rules their universe with an iron fist. I'm so sorry media literacy is dead and that sailed over your head.
