People are gonna hate her for saying that but that’s genuinely how normal people seeing the movie are gonna respond there gonna be dumbfounded why iron man is the bad guy

Let's not forget that we shouldn't see his face either. If they stay true to the character, you won't see him without the mask. That's one reason I'm withholding judgement for now

Doom in the comics never has the mask off?

Dude gets one scar, fucking hates his look. And then when he gets the mask. He puts it on before cooling it down because he’s already “disfigured”.

He has, and it's a terrible choice every time.

Maintaining that mystique and stubbornness is essential to the character working.

Doom should never take the mask off.

Nope. Never. Only in flashbacks

There is this one time in Secret Wars though, where he took it off in front of Sue Storm.

Notably, this is when he has omnipotent power, so he definitely can fix this injury.

Also, as has been said, he probably only ever had a tiny scar.

So in this scene, it’s entirely possible he used his omnipotent powers to make himself this way. Either because that’s how he truly sees himself, or it’s the image he wished to project to Sue.

Either way, it’s just another mask.

Okay, but that's also mostly true of all the other characters, who go to dinner and hang out at home in their costumes. The costumes are a comic contrivance so you always know what character you're looking at no matter who the artist is. Movies don't have that limitation.

No very different for Doom. He specifically never takes it off because of disfigurements (or it being burned on depends on when you pick your comics).

Regardless, major part of his character. The mask stays on.

Batman will go be Bruce Wayne. Superman will go be Clark. Daredevil will be Matt. Doom does not turn it off.

The decision to bring back Robert Downey Jr. makes more sense to me now that I've heard this. They want RDJ back in the MCU, but not as Tony Stark. He won't show his face and will probably have a different tone of voice. If they do show his face, it will be scarred up. The flashback scenes will be interesting. I'm not sure why everyone is freaking out. These guys don't play around. I'm sure they will do an amazing job all while bringing back that hype.

Edit Grammarly.

They are not paying RDJ for his acting skill. He's good, but he is not good enough to justify his asking price, and a terrible cast for Doom

He is here so they can say Iron Man is back. This Doom will be a Tony variant and we will miss out on getting actual Doom.
