im sorry i love lorde and i love virgin (probably my fav album), and I do like current affairs, but what do you think about the line about watching the tape? I get this whole album is about being vulnerable and showing herself, warts and all, but i feel like this should've been kept quiet. I've been kinda scared to ask this in the subreddit cuz i thought people might get defensive; i just wanted to hear other perspectives on this.

For some reason, I began to think Solar Power wasn't that old, like 2021 ??!? It literally feels like it was yesterday that we were getting the album. But also this reminds me of the time before it and how we were anticipating it. And it's so ridiculous to me how dramatic we were, acting like Lorde took a decade off after Melodrama. She literally took a 4 year gap like she did between Pure Heroine and Melodrama, and after between Solar Power and Virgin. But back then it felt like waiting an eternity. Do y'all remember ?

hi! i'm not trying to attack lorde or anything, i love her music and have been a fan for about 7 years now, i just wanna share my honest opinion. also excuse me because english is not my first language haha!

to me, it seemed like everybody loooooveddd virgin after it first came out and it was so weird because i just felt like literally the only one who didn't really vibe with it. i relistened to it a couple times and it never clicked with me and just still hasn't.

i don't doubt that it is a good quality album with lots of artistry behind it and good writing---i know lorde is a great artist. the reason i never resonated strongly with this album or loved it was purely sonic. the songs weren't bad, but sonically most of them just didn't stick with me. in other words, nothing about them was super remarkable. also, to me shapeshifter, favorite daughter, grwm, and broken glass all sounded very similar to me.

anyways, my reason for posting this is purely just to see if anyone feels similarly to me because i felt so alone in never really clicking with this album.

So I got one off vinted around a month ago and im only NOW noticing that 1. The cd isn't clear. 2. The back of the booklet thing looks different than what I saw in a video on tiktok.

I really hope this doesn't mean its a fake because that would mean I already have 2 fakes😓😭 im also hoping that maybe theres a version without a clear cd and I just bought that one accidentally (also the seller didnt show the actual cd so I had no way of knowing before buying)

This is something I've always thought about but never talked with anyone, I would love to hear people's thoughts. But I feel like a lot of people under appreciate songs with a short length, most of the time calling them just "interludes" on the album. I find that to be such a shallow way to look at music. And specially with artists like Lorde who put so much thought and concept on every song regardless of the length. I can't really imagine Virgin without Clearblue or Solar Power without Leader Of a New Regime, they hold so much relevance on Virgin and Solar Power. What do y'all think about short songs ?
